Chapter Three  “Spill, Celine,” Claire started as soon as she got the chance to drag me out of class. “I need to know how you knew him?”   I sneak a glance at the demon. He’s smirking at me as if he knows we’re talking about him. He even had the decency to send me a kiss.   I just glared back at him as I felt my body shuddered with how gross his actions were. I just couldn’t stand him. And I don’t know why my body reacts stupidly sometimes whenever he’s doing things shamelessly.   “That demon,” I started to explain, my throat feeling like sandpaper as I relieved that night on my mind, “he was the one who kissed me that night. The one I dreaded to meet again.”   “WHAT!”   I covered Claire’s mouth instantly. Almost all the people in our class were staring at us like a bunch of fools. While the reason behind this mess is still just smiling, staring at us with amusement in his eyes. The worst part is Azrael even stopped reading just to look at our commotion.   “Lower your voice!” I hissed. As soon as she nodded, I immediately let go of her and couldn’t help but shake my head with how her eyes twinkle with gossip. “I’m just too appalled that he’s now sitting there so near me.”   “I’m just shocked that Theo was the one who took your first kiss,” Claire stated laughing in the process. “Isn’t it ironic?”   I couldn’t help but frown as I questioned, “Who? What’s ironic?”   She looked at me with scrutinization as if I was acting crazy. “You don’t know Theo? You’ve never heard of him ever since?”   “Would I ask you if I knew him?” I questioned back with sarcasm and she returned that with a slap, not a hard one though. “What’s that slap for?!”   “I was just making sure,” she explained. “I’ve just never met anyone who doesn’t know him ever since he changed into someone that everyone can fear.”   I absentmindedly caressed the cheek she slapped. The slap was not hard although it still stings a little. Instinctively, my gaze found the demon’s hazel orbs and I couldn’t help it when my heart began to race.   He was already standing from his sit with his grip tight on the chair, making his knuckles pale. He looked like he’s asking if I was okay. Like as if he cares about me despite all the teasing.   I just nodded at him. I don’t know why I did that but it felt like it was the right thing to do. He just sighed and sat back down but still fix his gaze on us. Gone was the playfulness I saw in his eyes earlier.   “Piece of advice, why don’t you forget about Az?”   My head automatically turned towards Claire. “Are you crazy?” I asked her with wide-eyes, laughing at her stupid joke.   “I won’t meddle regarding this. But I just hope that you’ll realize something I saw soon enough,” she answered ignoring my teasing. I wanted her to explain further but she just shook her head at me. “Axel Theo Montreal, he’s your demon. And I think he’s more than what we know.”   Her declaration caught me off guard and I just stared at her, waiting for the punch line to this joke. But her focused was solely on the demon inside the room. “Are you being serious? Because if not, it’s not a good joke, Claire. He’ll be my relative in the future and it’s really not funny!”   “You really don’t know anything, don’t you? Is Az the only one you see?” She even dejectedly shook her head at me. “Theo is Azrael’s older brother. Step-brother as a matter of fact.”   I gape at her while my mind is still processing all the things she said. “Still not stopping with the joke?”   “You’re the only one I know who has a crush at Az and doesn’t even know anything regarding his family,” she teased. “Are you really sure you’ve been loving him for 10 years? Couldn’t your sight get past Az whenever they’re together before?”   I rolled my eyes at her teasing. “It’s not my fault that I want him to introduce his family once we’re together. I’m not a stalker! Besides, guilty as charge, I have only looked at Az. Why bother with everyone else?”   “Wow! You really have a big dream. Care to tell how will you achieve that?”   I just ignored her teasing. My mind still not settled that the angel of my life is the demon’s brother. “So, why is Axel in our class if he’s older? Shouldn’t he already be out of school and working?”   “Don’t call him by his first name! He doesn’t like anyone calling him that,” she hissed. “And to answer you, I don’t know the details. It’s just on his last years in college two years ago, he changed for the worst. Always skipping school just to get into a fight.”   “Then why is he here now?” I asked with irritation. Of all places and time, he just decided to get back to school after he took something from me.   “Because you’re here.”   All the hairs at my back began to stand with just one whisper. He’s a temptation I couldn’t risk falling into.   I pushed him away and glared at his sly face. “What the hell, Axel?!”   Instead of getting irritated with me calling out his first name, he laughed gaining everyone’s attention. And I couldn’t help but just gawked at him like every other girl, I’m sure of it. That laughed was the first sincere laughed I saw in his face.   “Sorry. I just got the urge to laugh because you finally know my name,” he explained and winked at my way. “Hopefully, the next thing you’ll do is fall for me.”   I just rolled my eyes at how conceited he is. “That will happen… never. In your freaking stupid dream.”   “Aren’t you two done talking? I freaking miss you, you know,” he announced loudly for everyone, ignoring my rant. He placed his arm on my shoulder pulling me closer to his body a sign of claim. “So, how’s your day? Thought of me?”   “Y-You’re crazy!” I shouted, stuttering at the begin. I ran inside the class, too afraid to let him see how he affects my body with everything he’s doing. He’s like a boyfriend that really misses his girlfriend. And I couldn’t let my mind be going on that way. Not going to happen!   ~*~   “Juliet,” he called out from my left side. “Care to give me your attention?”   My jaw automatically clenched hearing his raspy voice. Focus, Juliet! Don’t let that demon get to you. Sooner or later, he’ll get fed with his own games. You can do it!   “Your hair smells good, Liet” he commented and took the few strands of my hair on his lips.   I bit my tongue and pinched my hand just to stop myself from hitting this stupid p*****t. He’s too shameless! He even has the audacity to do this to me while we’re still in class. Aren’t he ashamed that everyone couldn’t help but sneak a glance at us?! Even Claire’s trying to control her laughter.   “Juliet, I miss you.”   I felt my patience snapped. But before I could even utter a word, someone voiced out for me. My saviour. My angel.   “Shut up, brother. Just study there.”   I couldn’t help but gaze at Azrael and admire how cool he looks with his messy hair while his focus is on our professor in front. He’s glasses didn’t even diminished how good looking he is, it even compliment his face. But the one thing that I really noticed, is how his muscles flex every time he writes. Even his fitted V-neck shirt is too tempting for me.   I immediately sat up properly when Az suddenly stood. My heart was racing when I thought I was caught, but he was just called out front to answer. And I couldn’t help but to smile again when he gave the correct one. What do you expect from our valedictorian? My angel is really too perfect!   My imagination was cut off suddenly when I heard the glass breaking from my side earning everyone’s attention including mine. Axel was frowning like he’s controlling his self. And as I stare at him more, I noticed the blood flowing on his knuckles. A part of me wants to go to him because I was concerned.   Why did he break the glass window?   “It’s your fault,” Claire whispered and I looked at her quizzically. But instead of continuing her words she just sighed and shook her head as if disappointed at me.   I was surprised when someone suddenly pulled my face. Axel’s face was close to mine that I could feel his breath on my lips and it’s really not good for me. One mishap and his lips might land on mine again.   “Next time, don’t make me jealous,” he hissed. “Don’t look at other men besides me.”   And with that, he left me dumbfounded. While my system suddenly becomes haywire. I could feel how fast my heart is beating right now and how my stomach feels some tingling. His presence is not good for me and I need to cut it immediately. What are you doing to me, Axel?
