Chapter Four  “Theo didn’t come back to class,” Claire point out.   “I really don’t have a care,” I stated with irritation as I shoved a piece of fry on my mouth.   It’s already lunch break and Axel already missed three of the classes in our course. Well, it’s not like it’s a major subject but still it’s a pre-requisite. Wait, just to correct. It’s two and a half. He walked out on the first class which everyone already thinks is my fault.   Well, I really don’t care as long as he doesn’t pull me into his shameful act. It’s better that he’s not attending the classes. It just makes my life easier, peaceful and more bearable. He’s just making my head hurt with the way he tries to flirt with me. But still… I do wonder where he went. And why is he doing this to me.   “Then why are you thinking of him?” she teased making me stop my train of thoughts.   Yes, why should I think of him?   I gave her a sullen look. “Are you on drugs?” I questioned to change the subject. “Why should I be thinking of him?”   “But you look worried,” she commented as she looks at me with scrutination. “I know you, Celine.”   “I’m worrying about Azrael,” I lied. “His brother is causing troubles and this might affect him. If I were him, I’d also be tired fixing the mess.”   “Whatever!” she stated not believing in my words. “I still believe in what I see.”   “Shut it!” I whined. “Don’t ever involve me with that demon. I swear to you, I will never fall into his trap.”   “Don’t be a hypocrite, my dear,” she taunted as she played with the straw of her cappuccino frappe. “You’ll never know what will happen in the future. You might just eat all your words.”   I frowned at her words but stop my thoughts from going on that direction. “I will not. I’ll never like Axel. So, stop pushing me to him.”   “Fine,” she gave up. “I need to go. I have classes soon and the room is too far from here.”   I just nodded and we both stood up from where we are sitting. Claire and I have different room for next period because she was late enrolling that time. It’s a shame but I still have all classes with Az so it’s still a good deal.   ~*~   “You still get too many letters just like before.”   I abruptly stopped when I heard that voice. I was about to go upstairs towards my class when I hear him speak. And the curiosity in me couldn’t help but want to know who is he speaking to. Maybe it’s his girl? So, should I continue on my way or not?   “Why didn’t you attend the classes? I though you changed. Mom and Dad are worried about you.”   And that made my decision. I looked at the time on my phone and it’s only 12:30 in the afternoon. I still have 30 minutes just to see Az even if Axel’s also present.   I sneak a glance on where I heard their voice. Azrael was busy reading his book again while the demon is busy scanning all the letters that his brother got. He’s really too nosy.   “They’re still close,” he commented ignoring his brother worry. “Don’t plan to read them?”   “Maybe at home,” he answered nonchalantly. “I don’t want any distraction.”   My eyes went wide when I noticed my letter on Axel’s hand. And the worst thing, of all the letters there, he decided to read mine. I bit myself to stop myself from reprimanding that stupid nosy demon. Because if I did that, it’s like I’m announcing that he’s holding my letter and I’m peaking at them. It’ll be too embarrassing.   “I’ll take this one,” Axel stated and hid the letter. My letter! He didn’t even wait for his brother’s reply.   Dread filled every fiber of my being. That freaking demon has my letter! What if – Wait! I didn’t put any name on that so maybe it’s still safe for me, right?!   “Hmm…”   I almost jump from shock when I heard that voice near me. I stood up properly and glared at the intruder. “Do you know it’s rude to scare someone,” I hissed at Eros.   Eros Santiago, one of the part-time teachers in SPU and also a former student. He’s one of the famous students before and is still is. It’s not because of his looks but because of the title provided to him by the other students. The God of Love. Well, he lives by his name because he truly is a successful matchmaker. I just don’t know why he couldn’t match me with Azrael.   He smirked at me and raised an eyebrow. “Well. Did you know that it’s ruder to eavesdrop on others?”   I frowned and stated, “Whatever.”   I went past him to escape from this situation but before I could even walk away, he sneaks a peak to where I was before. Instinctively, I grabbed him by his collar. Classes will start soon and the two might see us.   “So…” he started prolonging the ‘o’. “Theo and Az.”   “Just Az,” I corrected. I don’t want him to think that I’m interested with that demon. I’d rather die a virgin than be with him. “You of all people should know that.”   “You’re not interested with Theo? He took your first kiss?” he teased, his eyes shining with amusement. “That would hurt him.”   “Who the heck told you that?!” I questioned as I stare at him with horror. Only the three of us – me, Claire and Axel – knew about what happened that night.   His smirked even become bigger which I find creepy. “So, Theo was stating the truth. Good for you!”   “That jerk!” I scoffed. “What else did he tell you?”   What the hell does that jerk think?! Who the f**k gave him the right to announce what he did to me?!   “He also told me that you didn’t even knew him?” he asked, completely enjoying my sentiment. “I mean, you like Az, since what? Grade School? But you didn’t even know his brother.”   I pouted with annoyance. Should I really know Axel? He’s just a jerk who is out there just to mess with everyone’s lives, including mine. He could do us a favor and just leave us alone.   “Your face says it all,” he pointed out and laughed. “You’re really something, Celine.”   “Shut up!” I whined. “How did you even know that p*****t? Aren’t you too old already?”   “You should really show respect to me. I’m old and a teacher as a matter of fact,” he commented nonchalantly. “But anyway, Theo is in my batch before he messed up. He’s one of my closest friends.”   I turned around to leave him. I don’t have anything I want from him and I already heard what I wanted from him. So, might as well just leave before the two could notice us.   “About your request…”   I immediately stopped and looked back at him, my eyes almost falling out of my sockets. I was full of hope. “You mean matching me-”   “Yes, that. I’m going to match you with that Montreal,” he cut me off and gave me his trademark smirk. “Deal?”   If my eyes could shine, today will be the brightest it could shine. After all those years, my feelings would soon bear fruit. I bit my lips to stop myself from shrieking with all this pent-up excitement. I nodded and went back to his side. I even almost hug him.   “And I’ll be doing it now,” he announced mysteriously. He winked at me and went out of hiding. “Theo! Your princess is looking for you!”   “f**k you!” the demon shouted with irritation. “Shouldn’t you be teaching in class?”   Wait! Why is Eros calling Axel? Shouldn’t it be Azrael? Does he want the demon to go away so I could be alone with Az?   “Still the same jerk. Then I’ll just have a date with Juliet,” he declared and pull me out from here I’m hiding. “Let’s go, princess.”   What the heck is happening? Shouldn’t he be matching me with Azrael? Why does it feel like his setting me up with that demon?!   Eros was just laughing while he placed his arm on my shoulder and pulled me away from that place. “Count to three,” he ordered mischievously.   And because I really don’t know what situation I’m in, I followed him and began counting like a stupid buffoon. Have I been fooled and stupidly believe him?!   “3…2…1”   And with that last count, I felt my arms being grabbed by someone as he pulled me towards his chest. I wanted to push him away but his embrace was too strong for my petite arms. I could hear Eros laughing at the background but I couldn’t focus on him because this person’s smell is making my system go haywire. I know this smell even if I don’t want to.   “Don’t touch what’s mine, Eros. You don’t want me to be your enemy,” he warned, his voice lace with venom. “Lay a finger on her again and I’ll beat you up even if we’re friends.”   “Too possessive,” Eros laughingly commented. “I was just teasing.”   “And you!” He turned his attention on me and placed his forehead on mine, closing our distance. His breath fanning my face is messing me up. And those serious eyes of his is not doing me any good. “I just told you not to look at other guys and now you let them hold you. I’m f*****g jealous!”
