The Mordi laughed. "When there is nothing to steal there is no place for thieves. And when there are no rules there is no need for war."
"Well, what about—" Tobias intended to keep arguing no matter what answers he got, but the Mordi interrupted.
"We will talk more as we make our way to the village."
"What about those creatures?" Tomkins asked.
"They won't bother anyone now—as long as no one shows hostility."
"Why did they attack us?" Tobias asked.
"I told you why," the Mordi said. "They are the protectors of these lands and of the Mordi in particular." As the Mordi started off, a welgar emerged from the woods and came down the hill to walk by his side.
