“That’s right, a witch!” “A what?” “A witch!” “What WHAT?” “Do you want me to spell it out for you?” “No, what I want is for you to make a little more sense.” “Ooh, she is feisty!” Jasmine chipped with a broad grin. “I love her already.” “You have no idea,” Zayden groaned out of pure frustration, forcing the alcohol down his throat and wincing when the bitterness boiled through his chest. He once again turned around to fix that dumb girl with a pointed gaze. “Look. Either you do as she says, or keep up the act, and I’ll drag that sweet ass myself. Don’t force my hands. The choice is yours.” He threatened. Zayden would be lying if he said the girl his wolf was going crazy for hadn’t gotten into his nerves in the last few hours. How could someone be so annoying? f**k him, he didn’t see that coming. Since the moment she walked into his hotel suite, all he could think about was to bend her over that damn couch and f**k her senseless. And not only because she had a perfect ass that was created to be ravished. But also, because her scent was begging him to. His wolf didn’t know what to do with her, either. One moment, he demanded to make sure she was comfortable and safe as f**k, and the other, all he cried out for, was to hurt her, bite her, and leave bruises all over her silken skin. God, they both were screwed! Running a hand through his hair—something he had been doing a lot lately—Zayden sought some patience from the moon goddess. If she wouldn’t help him get through this plight, no one could. He would go f*****g crazy if he couldn’t solve the mystery of this girl as soon as possible. He couldn’t even fathom how it f*****g happened. When Jasmine called the mystery girl over to sit with her, instead of moving forward and complying like he f*****g expected her to, she dashed for the balcony and slid the glass door shut before either of them could stop and yank her back in. Jasmine couldn’t stop laughing since then and Zayden couldn’t help but tug his hair out. This girl was driving him crazier than his wolf ever did. And that was saying something. “Come on, baby girl, don’t be shy,” Jasmine cooed with the sweetest of her tipsy voice, laughing a little when the mystery girl shook her head in an obvious no. “Oh, come on. I’m not going to eat you. I have been pure vegan since 1992.” Liar. Zayden rolled his eyes. Scraping at his jaw and wondering how the hell was he going to get her in. Of course, he could always break the door. No biggie. But that should be an alternative only when everything else had failed. They couldn’t draw unnecessary attention to themselves. It never ended up good for either the humans or his kind. Clearly, he had no other choice but to handle this situation a bit more wisely. No matter if she drove him mad for the hell of it. “What are you even afraid of? I’m only trying to help you here,” Jasmine continued to coax her into giving up the stubbornness. But Zayden knew this wasn’t going to work. They would have to be a little more creative to get her back inside. Thankfully, he knew exactly the kind of bait she would come running after. Emerging next to Jasmine, Zayden pulled his phone out. Once he pressed his hand against the cold glass, his witch friend stepped back, probably assured that the Alpha had something up his sleeve. And you bet your ass he did. He dialled a number. “Hm. Do you remember the number of the cab the two girls you went down to drop off? You do? Great. Find the address of the place. And when you do?” He paused for dramatic effects, watching as the liquid brown eyes of the mystery girl widened tenfold, horror licking across her face. “Get them back—” Before Zayden could even complete the sentence, the sliding door lock clicked open so fast, that his heart crashed against his ribs. The mystery girl shoved the door to the side, stepping through it and facing him head-on. “Don’t!” Almost pleading, brown eyes widened with dread. His wolf whined seeing the sadness on her face. “Please. I’ll do whatever you want me to. Don’t drag my sister into this.” Zayden stared her down for a minute too long, searching for the sincerity in her stance. He should’ve been happy to see his plan work. But something about the fear instilled in her beautiful eyes tugged at his heartstrings. Did she actually believe that he was going to hurt her sister? Granted, his performance to bring her sister might have given the impression. But still. Did he take him to be that cruel? And why the hell was it bothering him so much? “Wait for my word,” muttering those words, he disconnected the phone and pushed it back into the pocket, his golden eyes raking over her face so gently he couldn’t help but sigh. Slipping his rough fingers up her soft cheek and through the silky chaos of her dark hair, he tugged her closer. Causing her to wince ever so little and loving the way it made his blood boil with need. His other hand went up to hook a finger underneath her chin as if guiding her face to a right angle. And when he had her the way he wanted, he leaned his lips closer to her ear. Her sweet scent wafting through his nose and straight to his brain, making him dizzy. He let out a heavy breath, nuzzling his nose in the crook of her neck. “Are you trying to tempt me?” she possibly couldn’t agree to do whatever he wanted and not expect him to take the offer right off the bat. Had she not realised his wolf was at her mercy? That all he wanted was to lose himself in her until their scent had become one and his wolf was satisfied more than he had the right to. “I can’t wait to find out what’s going on here,” with great reluctance, Zayden realised the voice barging into the peaceful bubble belonged to Jasmine. After all, she was the only person in the room other than the two of them. As he retreated and relaxed his fingers around the thick strands of her hair, he noticed her eyes had fallen shut and her slim fingers bunched a good portion of his shirt. So receptive to his touch. He almost growled. He had the same effect on her as she had on him. And that only multiplied his curiosity more than ever. He smiled. This girl, whom he never met in his entire life, made him feel as if she owned him with every bit of her human existence. The thing that baffled him the most, however, was the fact that she wasn’t even his mate. If she were, he would have known. But no. There was something else about her that made him weak at the knees and compelled him to stay as close to her as possible. Without another word, Zayden stepped back and away. Leaving the poor girl with flushed cheeks and feverish skin. “Let’s not waste more time.” And they didn’t.
