Chapter 17
The silence that followed Renée's outburst was with thick with tension. I was surprised by her outburst; I mean David had it coming, but I never thought Renée would be the one to give it. She seemed so quiet, but I guess when your child is in danger and your partner isn't there to help something's got to give.
"Ah, come on, Renée, don't be like that." I could hear the pleading in David's voice and he shuffled his feet. I wondered if it embarrassed him or caused him any concern about what his wife felt. The tone of his words didn't sound sincere, more of a reprimand.
