Chapter 25
Peter and I didn't stay much longer after Renée had gone upstairs. Moira and Carlos still handled things at the house, answering phone calls and making up lists of items to check off in the search for Tommy. We promised to stay in touch and left. In no time we were heading downtown to the first pet store on my list. We were pulling into the driveway of the parking lot of the pet store when my phone rang.
"Hello."
"Mac, this is Detective Byrd. Listen, Carlos told me about your idea about the dog, and it sounds like a good one. We’re following Darlene's movements as closely as we can, and I have access to the records of all the community pounds so I will look at things from that end. If you could search the pet stores, maybe together we can find out some answers."
