Weeks go by, and surprisingly, I find myself growing fond of Aiden - a feeling I never anticipated. Yet, I've come to love and trust him.My unexpected feelings is a turn of events I didn't see coming.
I’ve seen a side of Aiden that I never thought was real.He does everything I want him to without complaining.He takes me to new places,gets gifts for me when he’s back from work and even plays with me.
Today,he wants to introduce me to his two friends at work.
It’s my first time in his company.He's walking ahead of me as he guides me through the building, hand in one of his pockets while the other keeps mine linked to one of his. He's quiet while he leads me through the main floor—his expression stern and professional in a way i almost never see. He's very much in work mode, but i can tell something else is on his mind by the way he's a little quieter than usual.
He takes me to his large office where I see two men in suits laughing with each other.
He barely lets go of my hand the entire time—only releasing for a second to shake hands with Jamie and Robin,his friends,before pulling me back against his side. He's still quiet, but now there's an unmistakable tension in his jaw when he finally speaks.
“This is Tiana,my girlfriend.”
“Both of you will be seeing a lot more of us from now on. So behave yourselves.”
The last part is directed at both Jamie and Robin, his gaze flickering between them as if daring either of them to test him on this.
“Nice to meet y’all”.I smile at them.
They both smile and nod—Jamie looking between the two of us while Robin seems to be sizing me up a little.
Jamie: “Nice to meet you. You’ve been keeping our boy pretty occupied, huh? We hardly see him anymore.”
Robin: He grins at me,his expression more than a little amused by the way Aiden refuses to let go of my hand.
“He never was very good at sharing. Don’t be surprised if he’s glued to your side most of the day.”
They both were very handsome and had nice smiles.Jamie was a dark skin with fresh wavy hair.He wore a black elegant work suit that looked freshly ironed.He had silver earrings on and a silver wrist watch.
Robin on the other hand was a light skin.He wore a milkish-brown suit and kept his smile on.
“I’ve heard so much about you two.Y’all like besties right?”,i giggle.
Jamie laughs while Robin smirks—both clearly used to Aiden being territorial.
Jamie:”Oh yeah, we've known this guy since college. He never shuts up about us when we're not around—I'm sure you've heard plenty of embarrassing stories by now.”
Robin just shakes his head, looking between me and Aiden with a knowing grin before teasingly adding:”We’re basically familiá at this point… so if he ever pisses you off? We know all his dirty little secrets—just say the word.”
They both lean on the desk,telling me funny things about Aiden.
Aiden groans beside me—clearly annoyed by their teasing.
“Shhh,stop groaning like a dog and let them talk”,i tease him.
He scoffs and rolls his eyes but doesn't say anything—just stands there with his hand tight around me and glares at his friends when they laugh. He's obviously annoyed but it's clear he trusts their opinions and values their approval, even if he'd never admit it. The tension in his shoulders relaxes just a little when he looks back at me.
“I'm assuming that's your not so subtle way of telling me to be nice, sweetheart?”,Aiden says,looking at me up and down.
I ignore him and walk over to his office chair.
“Can I sit?—Don’t even reply because I’m already sitting”.
I sit on the comfortable rolling chair,moving it side to side.
He rolls his eyes again, though I can definitely see the fondness—this kind of banter seems to be something they all do regularly.
“Cut the crap, sweetheart. We have a lot of work to get done today. I don't get paid to flirt with beautiful women, as much as you clearly want me to.”
“I’m in an office with three handsome best friends in suits,what could possibly go wrong?”,I tease.
He glares at me, shaking his head while Jamie and Robin both laugh—clearly entertained by the way he reacts.
He looks back at Jamie and Robin.
“Let’s get out before she gets any more ideas—we have work to do.”
“Nooo!!Don’t leave me”,I make a kissy face.
“She’s so adorable”,Robin smiles at me.
“I’m just kidding.You can go.I’ll entertain myself with these Big Macs here”.
“Those are not yours babe”.
“I don’t care,I’ll eat them anyways.Bye bye,shooo!Adiós,Au revoír,toodles—“
“Alright,alright,we’re leaving.Behave yourself too”.
