“Are you sure everything is fine?” I asked, leaning back on my seat. “Yeah. Everything is going as expected.” Giselle replied with a smirk, sitting beside me. “How are you?” She asked teasingly. I frowned at her words and avoided her question. “We have started the plan and I don’t want any hindrance in it.” I said sternly, staring down at my glass of whiskey, tracing my index finger over the untouched tip, barely controlling my fury.
“Nothing will happen, chill.” She smiled, putting her hand over my shoulder. I glared at her from the corner of my eyes as she removed her hands. Scoffing, I wore my hood, not looking up.
“You have his business card, don’t you?” I asked. “Yeah, He gave me himself, considering me a slut, he didn’t suspect a thing.” She licked her lips seductively, letting out a suppressed laugh. Pathetic i***t. I thought bitterly.
“Slut, isn’t it? Great. Then why don’t we break up with his loving girlfriend.” I smirked and my partner sitting next to me scoffed, “As if.”
“Come on, it will be fun.” My smirk grew atrocious, thrilled to feel the destruction chasing him. Pouting it put it’s chin on it’s palm, deepened frown. “I am ready.” Giselle said. “Yeah, yeah, do it.” My partner waved to shrug her off. “But don’t forget what you need to do with this card first, then you can do whatever you want.” I warned her. “Yeah, I know. Don’t worry.” She smiled reassuringly and finished her drink. “Everything will go as planned.”
“It will be better.” I enunciated.
Giselle then remained like this for a while and then broke into a laugh, “What?” I asked, raising a brow at their demeanour. “He must be turning insane to see them.” She said and tried to suppress my wicked laugh but a chuckle escaped my lips too. “True…” Knowing he must be deeply disturbed by this with no chance to find redemption because there is none.
“And more things.” I stopped my movement and straightened my back, looking at them to gain their attention and continued after clearing my throat, “That naive Damien thinks we can’t do anything in his Guard Irene’s presence. Let’s show him, if we want, his next breath could become his last.” I said, getting up, receiving sinister smirks from them, knowing it all too well what my intentions are and what games I am playing with the fiery fire to burn everything with my dark plans.
With a suppressed laugh they also got up, winking at me with the same menacing aura emitting from all of us, leaving while waving and telling me the reality aware to me visibly,
“You truly are a devil.”

Damien POV:-
Pacing around in extreme consternation my mind is still stuck on what happened at the station. What is happening is beyond my comprehension but is too lethal as I could feel the tribulation under my fingernail, stirring my mind in devastation. Pulling my hairs, I couldn’t find ease in any corner of my home, walking around in frustration, in stress, gritting my teeth with nothing to cease this constant tension.
“Are you alright?” Irene asked, walking down from the room. “Careful, what were you doing there?” I asked worriedly, coming to her. I was about to help but she stopped me.
“I am fine, Sir.” She said blandly. Feeling embarrassed again, I moved my hand back and got down. “I needed to change my clothes and take a shower. I am fine now, I will be back to work tomorrow.” She said getting down.
“I know it still hurts while walking, why don’t you start with Monday?” I offered, coming closer. “And where are they?” I asked. “In the room.” She replied, sitting on the couch. “And your death won’t come by day or date.” She sighed.
“Why are you so cold?” I asked, aggravated by her endless ice pricking my heart. “What do you expect me to do? Do you want me to play?” She asked in irritation.
“You are playing.” I muttered. “Huh? What do you mean?” She asked, perplexed. I leaned on the wall, scoffing. I was already irked and now she is increasing it more. “You are already playing with my life because I believe you said it yourself you have no care about my life.” I growled, furrowing my brows in rage.
She stared at me face for a few second and rolled her eyes, “It’s true that I won’t shred remorse or sympathy if something happens to you, it will only be a lesson for me to be cautious in the future but with due my obligation, I need to keep you safe from every harm.” She replied professionally, not even caring speaking about my death.
“Your words are so twisted.” I hissed, going to get myself a glass of water. “I don’t know if it happens with you but…” She sighed and began to give me a childish example, “Imagine your mother got a set of crockery from her from the marriage. She is so proud of it and loves it dearly and one day you accidentally broke a plate from the set, can you imagine her wrath for breaking it?” She asked. It was silly but nevertheless, I got the context and nodded, turning to her. An invisible smirk came to my lips when I heard it. I didn’t know she could talk cutely too.
“Same scenario is here. You are the crockery, My agency is the Mother and if I broke any plate, it might be fatal for me. Even though I have no attachment to it, I have to protect it-” I cut her off, “To avoid your mother’s wrath.” I finished her sentence and she nodded.
I put the glass down, she was on the opposite of the counter, looking at me with her hands over it. My face was slightly close to her but then a chuckle escaped my lips, “What? Did I say something wrong?” She asked, tilting her head in confusion.
“No… it was weird to hear this from you.” I said, controlling my laugh. Her brow twitched, she pouted and it made her adorable, “I always give bad examples.” She mumbled, turning her head away.
“It was bad… it gets what you are trying to say.”
“Then what’s the problem?” She asked. “It’s that it is too silly and I found it cute when of all people you said it.” I told her, offering her a glass of water. She looked at me from the corner of her eyes, still the pout lingering on her face and took the glass and drank her water, going back to the couch. “I am coming back to work, starting tomorrow.” She said and walked away before I could protest or talk it out she was out of sight.
I smiled to myself. Emotions suit you a lot. I thought and went to my room, shaking my head. I went to my room and closed the door behind me. My mood which lightened up for a second is now about to burst into a million unwanted fragments of misery but I had no choice. I have to do it to end the loop of pain and suffering or else it will affect my mind. Shall I talk to Esmei about it? His life might be in danger as well.
With my shaky hand I took out my phone, my fingers a few centimeters apart from calling the number. With a gulp and exhale to ease my racing heart and mind filled with ordeals, I called him. It’s okay, you can do this. My undesirable sensation and a petrified heart, I called the manipulator of my frights- Evzen Brelly.
“Hello…” A deep tempting voice came, indicating he picked the call. I bit my cheeks and took a few deep breaths, making my mind, I breathed out, “Evzen…”
A moment of silence came in between. I curled my freezing hands in a fist and after a deadly prolonged silence he called my name, “Damien? Is that you?” His voice was still chill and free from worries and no matter how many mountains fell on his head I hated it. I hated him.
“Yeah. I need to talk to you.” I said, trying to stay in my posture. “I am in Italy nowadays. Tell me what it is?” He asked. “Your men tried to kidnap me.” I said with a glint of wrath. “My men? Why would they involve themselves with you? Are you even sure they are my men?” He asked.
“They were… They were them.” I said hesitantly. “Who?” He asked. “The men from ten years ago.” I told him. “The witnesses?” He asked. “Yeah. Last week, they tried to attack me.” I told him.
“Where are they now?” His voice suddenly became serious, almost threatening. “My suites killed them.”
“f**k!” He cursed, knowing if they were alive, one way or another he would suck the reason from their soul. “Listen Damien, It’s true they were my men but after the work, they left and I have no idea you were attacked by them.” He said sincerely.
“Then what do they want? Don’t you think..” I trailed off. “Don’t be stupid Damien. Keep your frightened ass to yourself.” He mocked. I grit my teeth, I am not scared you guys are heartless. I thought angrily. “Anyways, You know about the NYC condition. That’s why I left, I would recommend you move to another country as well.” He advised.
“I can’t. I have work here and I can't hide forever.” I told him. “Fine then… I will be coming back in a few months. And also tell Esmei to be cautious. We will sort it out when I come.” He said and cut the call.
After the call, I cursed under my breath. You haven’t changed. Your habit of running away is still the same. I thought. The moment an upheaval arose, he was ready to flee, not before preparing his safety. But if it wasn't Evzen then who might it be?
Shaking my head to let out any wrong thoughts building in my mind, I sighed and decided to call it a day, desiring a sleep which has been deprived of me for a long period and now I want to receive it without caring for any other. Just a night of solace.
The next day, I woke up, took a shower and got ready. Looking at my reflection for the last time while setting my tie, I walked out only to find the dead had risen from the grave.
I wasn’t exasperated this time to see Irene in front of me. She was ready, Her black shirt tucked in her jeans, everything black, jeans and her boots and even the color of her high ponytail. She was all ready to go. I was about to leave but stopped, contemplating her form and smirked, “You are so stubborn.”
She raised her gaze for the first time and smirked back, “Can’t have you die under my surveillance.” I laughed a little at her words and left for work, starting the day once again with her for my protection and with the chasing trouble which is intoxicating me internally...
