Unexpected dinner guest

3016 Words
It was still raining while Elaine and Elizabeth were happily standing in each other arms, neither one of them having made a move to let go of the other, despite the fact that they were both getting soaked and there was a chance that one of them would get sick or maybe even both of them. The idea of sickness didn't seem to bother either of them after the conclusion that they had come to. They both felt the same way about each other and shared what Elaine considered a rather amazing kiss. In fact, Elaine was getting ready to take another before Elizabeth stopped her by lightly gripping her hips slightly, causing Elaine to raise her eyebrows slightly. "Your lips are turning blue. I'd hate for you to get a cold, so why don't you head home and grab a change of clothes then meet me at my place? I want to try and make up for snapping at you in your classroom earlier today. You can shower at my place and I could attempt to make you dinner before a movie?" Elizabeth suggested while moving her thumbs to lightly rub over Elaine's hips. Elaine thought about it for a moment before nodding a little bit, loving the idea of having dinner and watching a movie with Elizabeth. "That sounds wonderful and I could cook dinner if you feel like you can't. I want to do something at least, rather than just use your shower, watch your movies and eat your food." Elaine said softly while moving her hands from the front of Elizabeth shirt to her shoulders, lightly rubbing them while she gave Elizabeth time to think things over. After a moment, Elizabeth nodded a little before looking down at Elaine, bending down and kissing her forehead gently before letting go of her waist. Elaine smiled at the kiss though couldn't help but pout a little at the loss of Elizabeth's hands. "That sounds wonderful because I'm sure that if I were to cook, we would end up eating takeout." Elizabeth said while placing her hands over Elaine's, her words causing Elaine to chuckle slightly before she moved her hands to take ahold of Elizabeth's. Giving them a gentle squeeze she smiled a little wider before slowly letting go of Elizabeth's hands, starting to walk backwards while she commented on what Elizabeth had just said. "Well, I'll make sure that we have something wonderful to eat." Elaine said happily, getting Elizabeth to laugh her angelic laugh. Elaine smiled even wider when she heard this before turning around to walk to her car. She only slowed her steps slightly when she heard Elizabeth call out to park her car in the backyard through the gate that she could leave open. Without arguing against it or really wondering why, Elaine nodded before speeding up her steps again as she got close to her car. When Elaine was in the car, she quickly started it and immediately turned on the heat, despite the fact that she knew it would be cold since the car hadn't had time to really warm up. Deciding to give the little time to warm up while she watched Elizabeth gather up all of her things, meaning putting the soccer balls back in the bag that they had been in to start with. After Elizabeth had got all of the soccer balls collected, she headed to her own car, opening the trunk and putting them away before she closed the trunk then got in her seat. When Elaine saw Elizabeth's car pull out of the makeshift parking lot, Elaine soon did the same and started heading towards her home. She was going to take Elizabeth up on her offer to shower there and knew that all she had to get when she was home would be something comfortable to wear and a towel to wipe the seat of her car off with, seeing as it was soaking wet after Elaine had sat in it. This took a little longer than Elaine thought it would, which meant that the moment that Elaine pulled into her driveway, she didn't even shut the car off before getting out and dashing inside. Once she was inside, she quickly made her way to her bedroom, starting to look through her drawers to find something that would be nice to wear yet comfortable at the same time. Elaine had personally thought that all of her jeans were comfortable, so she grabbed a darker colored pair of jeans before getting a black tank top and the hoodie that Elizabeth had given her as well as another bra and pair of underwear. She grabbed a towel out of her laundry room before heading to the front door once again, grabbing a pair of grey flats that would go with the hoodie. Now having everything that she needed, Elaine took a deep breath before stepping out onto her front porch, locking her door after it was closed before she soon darted out into the rain to get back into her car. Once Elaine was back in the car, she put her clothes in the passenger seat before doing her best to get the towel under her so that she didn't get the seat anymore wet then what it already was. After having been satisfied with how the towel was placed, she soon buckled up and then headed over to Elizabeth's, a happy smile on her face. About 30 minutes later, Elaine arrived at the house and saw what Elizabeth had talked about when she mentioned parking in the back yard. On the right-hand side, Elaine could see a section of the fence that was open which she took as the place to go through. Driving across the yard, Elaine pulled her car through the opened section of the fence, parking it before getting everything ready to get out. She had put the hoodie on and shoved the other clothes under it so that they wouldn't get as wet. When she got out of the car, she quickly pulled the gate shut before running as fast she could without falling, heading to the front porch where she knew she would be safe from the rain. When she reached the front porch, she rang the doorbell and only had to wait a few seconds before the front door opened to show Elizabeth, smiling happily. It didn't look as if she had showered yet and was still wearing the same clothes that had been soaking wet earlier. It didn't seem to bother Elizabeth as she happily invited Elaine in, taking the towel that had been wrapped around her shoulders and quickly wrapping it around Elaine. Elaine smiled thankfully before wrapping herself up a little tighter in the towel. Elizabeth nodded a little before closing the door, locking it before placing a hand on Elaine's back as she started to rub it lightly. "Why don't you go ahead and head upstairs and shower? I already put a towel and washcloth in there so that it would be ready for you when you got here and I'll see if I can find the movie case that I know is in the house somewhere." Elizabeth suggested, causing Elaine to smile softly. She handed the towel back to Elizabeth before starting up the stairs, soon walking into the bathroom. Elaine locked the doors to the bathroom before starting to strip off her wet clothes, setting them in the sink before starting herself a hot shower. Once she got in, she stood there for a moment, not doing anything as she allowed the hot water to run over her body and warm her up. After a few moments however, Elaine realized that she had someone waiting on her to get out, so she started bathing and washing her hair because she didn't want to keep Elizabeth waiting forever. It took Elaine about 10 minutes to get washed up, dried off and then dressed. After she had gotten dressed, she pulled her hair back into a ponytail then cleaned up the bathroom a little before she headed back downstairs with her wet clothes and towel in her hand. When she got downstairs, she smiled softly at the view that she had. Elizabeth was holding a little black kitten in her arms, making she that the little kitten wasn't getting wet. Elaine stood at the base of the stairs and watched Elizabeth for a moment or so before walking over to her and reaching out to gently pet the kitten, who seemed to immediately start taking a liking to her. "Who's this little cutie?" Elaine asked while scratching behind the kitten's ear, smiling when she heard it start to purr. Elizabeth looked at Elaine before handing her the kitten as she took the wet clothes in her hands. Elaine happily held the kitten and followed Elizabeth as she started walking off somewhere, Elaine soon finding that she was heading towards the laundry room right before the entrance to the garage. "His name is Shadow and I think he's really liking you at the moment." Elizabeth said as she loaded Elaine's clothes into her washing machine. Elaine smiled happily and kept scratching under the little kitten's chin for a few more moments before setting him down as she walked with Elizabeth back into the living room. "I didn't know you had a kitten." Elaine said softly while leaning against the love seat as she looked up at Elizabeth expectantly. Elizabeth simply shrugged her shoulders before getting ready to head upstairs, one foot on the first stair while the other was still on the hardwood floor of the first level of the house. Elaine watched Elizabeth bite her lip slightly before the girl finally looked at Elaine. "You never asked. Whatever you can find in the cabinets and in the fridge, feel free to use whenever you feel you're ready to start cooking. I'm going to go ahead a shower so that I'm not in these wet clothes anymore. I shouldn't be too long, but if you get thirsty or anything like that, anything in the fridge is yours." Elizabeth explained, getting a nod from Elaine before she headed upstairs the rest of the way. Elaine watched up until the girl disappeared into the bathroom, which was when Elaine decided to head into the kitchen and see what she could made a meal out of. To Elaine's surprise, Elizabeth had rather large selection of food items for someone who was having to buy her own food because her parents were away. Elaine found that there were several things that she could have made with all of the different ingredients that Elizabeth had in the kitchen. After thinking over several different meal options, Elaine settled on homemade chicken noodle soup. It was a cold day and some soup would warm them both right up. Smiling to herself at the choice that she had made, Elaine started to get out all of the things that she would need to cook with, meaning both pots and the different ingredients. 15 minutes was about how long Elaine had been cooking before she suddenly heard Elizabeth phone start to go off, the ringtone playing "Sweet Talker" by Jessie J. Elaine had heard that Elizabeth was getting ready to get out, so she didn't want to seem nosy and start trying to see who was on the other end on the phone. All she did was call up to tell Elizabeth that it was ringing. Soon, Elaine heard a rather loud thump from upstairs, raising her eyebrows slightly before looking back at Elizabeth's phone on the counter, which had gone silent. Not even 10 seconds after it went silent, it started ringing again, the same ringtone playing. That's when Elaine clearly heard Elizabeth coming down the stairs rather quickly and loudly. "s**t, s**t, s**t, shit..." Elizabeth mumbled the same curse over and over again before she reached her phone. Elaine raised her eyebrows slightly before blushing when she realized that Elizabeth hadn't bothered to put her shirt on. Yes, the younger girl was wearing a bra, but her shirt wasn't on, it was held in her hand down at her side. Elaine walked around the counter, wiping her hand off on a dishrag while raising her eyebrows. Elaine, without thinking about it had allowed her eyes to start to wonder over Elizabeth's exposed upper body, though the moment Elizabeth seemed to notice this she started pulling on her shirt while blushing slightly. As Elizabeth was pulling on the shirt, she seemed to be doing it in a rushed manner, as if she were trying to hide something and Elaine thought she might have an idea as to what when she saw a little bit of her lower stomach, right before the shirt had been pulled all the way down. It looked as if there was a scar there. One that Elizabeth didn't seem to like. Elaine quickly got over her curiosity when she saw the concerned look that was on Elizabeth's face. Cleary, whoever she was talking to on the other end was worrying her and by having Elizabeth worried, Elaine was worried. "Jamie, Jamie, slow down. What did he do to you?" Elizabeth asked, moving one of her hands to run through her hair slightly, biting her lip as the other person answered the question. When Elizabeth got an answer, it clearly didn't make her happy. Elizabeth suddenly started looking around for something and Elaine was going to offer her help but she didn't know what Elizabeth was looking for. "Jamie, stay where you are, I'm coming to get you. What? What do you mean you're on your way to my house? No...no, child you're not in trouble, I swear. I'll leave the door unlocked for you and the porch light on, just get here as soon as you can." Elizabeth said before hanging up the phone, turning to look at Elaine with the most serious look on her face that Elaine couldn't help but think that something was wrong. Really wrong. "Can you look through the kitchen drawers and find a few zip lock bags to fill with ice? If you do fill them, set them back in the freezer when you're done so they'll be cold. I hope you don't mind but we'll be having a quest over shortly." Elizabeth explained before suddenly darting up the stairs. Elaine nodded, quickly making her way into the kitchen, opening the freezer side of the fridge once she had located the bags. Elaine had picked up on the urgency of whatever was happening and made sure that she moved with haste. When she had the ice bags filled up, she kept them in the freezer before looking around the kitchen wanting to know it there was anything else that she could help with. It took Elizabeth a few moments to get back downstairs and when she did return, she was holding a hoodie as well as what looked like a rather large shirt, both of them resting on top of a towel. Elizabeth looked at Elaine and somehow Elaine could tell that there was nothing left to do now except wait, so she went back to her cooking in hopes that time would pass a little faster. As Elaine cooked, she could see Elizabeth sitting on the arm of the couch, running a hand through her hair every minute or so while her foot tapped on the hardwood floor, clearly impatient. Elaine wanted to help in some way, but she had no idea how she could seeing as she didn't know what was doing. The cooking was done in about 7 to 8 minutes and Elaine set the pot off to the side before grabbing a dishrag to dry her hands off on after she washed them. Once they were washed and dried, Elaine walked out of the kitchen and over to Elizabeth, lightly placing a hand on the girls back causing her to jump slightly. Elaine lightly rubbed Elizabeth's back for a moment before moving her hand to take ahold of Elizabeth's, lightly rubbing the girl's knuckles with her thumb, wanting to offer some comfort. "Elizabeth. What's going on? Is there anything that I can do to help?" Elaine asked, gently kissing the top of Elizabeth's head once the girl leaned into her slightly. Elizabeth didn't say anything in return. She simply buried her face in Elaine's neck while the woman simply held her close and kept rubbing her knuckles, hoping that it would help in some way. Together they stayed like this for another 5 minutes before the front door opened. When it opened, Elizabeth quickly pulled away from Elaine and walked over to the girl that had entered, wrapping her in the towel that she had brought downstairs. While Elizabeth wrapped the girl up, Elaine took that time to look at the girl that had just walked in over once. The girl was blonde, her hair long and ruler straight with bright blue highlights all throughout her hair. As Elaine was looking over the girls face, she couldn't help but gasp as she moved to cover her mouth with her hand in shock. The girl's lip was busted and there was a trail of blood leaving the cut on her lip, the blood trail a lot longer due to the fact that the blood had been mixed with the water of the rain. The same thing went for the trail of blood leaving her nose. As Elaine looked a little closer she could see that one of the girls golden brown eyes was starting to bruise, possibly even swelling. As Elaine stood there, she suddenly realized that this had to be one of the kids that Elizabeth had talked about. This was one of the kids that Elizabeth seemed to work so hard to be there for and Elaine was starting to see just how willing Elizabeth was and just how far she was willing to go to be there for these kids when they needed someone.
