Eighteen years later, The cold wind blew leaves and one gets stuck on the window. Although the glass was tinted, she could still see the leaf as it struggles to free itself into the wind. She looks at the leaf and wonder if she would ever gain freedom like it. She still couldn’t believe how her life completely turned upside down in just a month, and yet still remembers it like yesterday. It was just a regular thursday and like every other thursday, she would drive across with her mum and dad to their favourite restaurant where they get steak served with mashed potatoes and veggies. Maybe if she hasn’t insisted they go that day, they would have still been here. “Aurora, we are approaching Basan County”, the driver said snapping her out of her thoughts. “Oh really Mr Nelson, I didn’t even realise how much time has gone”. She stretched her hands and leaned forward from the back seat of the tinted SUV while trying to take a better look at the environment, her hazel eyes lit up for the first time in a month. She hasn’t seen an ocean looking so breathtaking like the pearl of the pacific, the lush green slopes of the mountain contrast beautifully with the vibrant blue lagoons that encircles it. Crystal-clear rivers flow through the valleys, the waters sparkling like diamonds as they cascade over smooth stones, creating a soothing melody that fills the air. As they drive pass by, she could inhale the sweet fragrances of the blooming flowers wafting through the gentle breeze . “Wow” she exclaimed with her jaws dropped. “I know, it is beyond beautiful” the driver concurred. A warm sensation of familiarity washed over her and for some reasons she didn’t understand, she swore her mind whispered “home”. “Well you did take a long nap immediately you boarded my car, the flight from Miami to Basan County is long one“, the driver Mr Nelson responded with a bright smile. He is the driver and butler of Aurora’s aunt whom she is going to live with as her new legal guardian. It didn’t make sense to her as she would be eighteen in a few months and didn’t need any ‘Adult’ still dictating her life. Her house was owned by her parents and they never had to bother about bills. After her parent’s funeral, she intended to just live in her parents house till she turned eighteen then figure out what the hell she was meant to do next with her life. Unfortunately under the eyes of the law she is still a minor so when her family lawyer told her that her parents had prepared for an eventuality like this and while the house and all their properties hers to use as she wished, she wouldn’t have access to them until she is twenty-one years old and she stays with her Aunt Claudia till she’s old enough. She couldn’t do anything about it because she doesn’t have any savings, she has always lived a really good life and has had everything she ever asked for. “Don’t worry dear child, I can feel your uneasiness. Your Aunt Claudia is an amazing woman, she has many qualities that will surprise you even though she might come off as harsh on your first encounter. We’re here” the driver said as they approached a mansion She looked around as they drove in through the front gate of a grand mansion nestled amidst lush greenery, its towering walls standing strong and majestic. The entrance is adorned with intricately designed iron gates, adding a touch of elegance to the imposing structure. The driveway winds through manicured gardens, leading to a spacious courtyard with a fountain at its center, the sound of trickling water adding a serene ambiance to the surroundings. As she curiously looked around she noticed the security with state-of-the-art surveillance cameras discreetly placed around the property. A team of vigilant security personnel patrols the grounds, ensuring the safety and privacy of the mansion's residents. Despite the high level of security, the mansion exudes a welcoming aura. The driver pulled over and help her with the door and her luggage. “Come on in Miss Aurora” he said leading her into the mansion. As they walked into the hallway she twirled around looking at the boasts large windows that allow sunlight to dance across the polished marble floors inside. Each room is tastefully decorated with luxurious furnishings, ornate chandeliers casting a warm glow over the rich tapestries and artwork adorning the walls. The air is filled with the scent of fresh flowers from the expansive gardens that surround the estate. “In here, your aunt will be with you shortly” the driver said and walked away She gulped and opened the door. As she stepped inside, the first thing that caught her eye was the grand mahogany desk, its surface gleaming under the soft glow of a vintage chandelier. The desk was perfectly positioned by a large window, allowing the sunlight to pour in, illuminating the room and casting playful shadows on the polished marble floor. The walls, painted in a serene shade of deep blue, were adorned with shelves brimming with leather-bound books and cherished keepsakes, each telling a story of its own. A plush leather chair sat behind the desk. In one corner, a cozy reading nook beckoned with a velvet armchair, surrounded by soft throw pillows. As she glanced around, she noticed the rich area rug that added warmth to the space, and a small coffee station tucked away. The air was filled with a sense of inspiration, as if the very walls whispered ideas and creativity. This was not just an office, it was a sanctuary where dreams were crafted and ambitions took flight. She sat at the couch nervously. Today is a significant day for her; she is meeting her aunt, whom she has never met before. The anticipation makes her heart race as she glances at the door every few moments. Suddenly, the door swings open and a woman with a long dirty-blonde hair swept to one side of her ears; dressed in a navy pantsuit that hugged her figure perfectly, paired with crisp white shirt, her red bottom heels and her chunky gold watch. With a swipe of bold red lipstick and light makeup. Her pointed-toe heels clicked confidently as she walked towards Aurora. “Welcome my darling” Aunt Claudia said with warm eyes and a welcoming smile. The two lock eyes, and Aunt Claudia approaches with open arms enveloping Aurora in a hug that feels both comforting and unfamiliar. “Aurora, look at you! You’ve grown so much, my little girl isn’t so little anymore” Aunt Claudia teased Aurora steps back, a mix of excitement and shyness washing over her. "Hi, Aunt Claudia! It’s wonderful meeting you. You look so beautiful, what a lovely home you’ve got here” said Aurora. “Oh please call me Big C, How was your flight? I hope you enjoyed your drive from the airport. There’s so much we need to talk about” said Big C “Alright Big C, It was a long flight but it was worth it” Aurora replied The butler, Mr Nelson knocks on the door. Clears throat “ Excuse me My lady, Your dinner is served” “You must be famished, Come along. We will talk more over dinner” said Big C Big C laughs as Aurora kept on complimenting her mansion, they both chatter and walked side by side towards the dining area.
