It took the villagers longer to move because they had to carry Randolph. After leaving them to help Randolph, Jasmine and Seraphina were the first ones to get to Jasmine's cabin.
The cabin stood peacefully amid the forest, with the soft glow of lantern light emanating from its windows. As they approached, Jasmine unlocked the door and led Seraphina inside.
Once they were inside, Seraphina looked around, taking in the simple yet cozy interior of the cabin. "You've done well, dear. It's a comfortable place for him to recover."
Jasmine nodded and replied, "I'll do my best to take care of him until he recovers. Do you think the villagers will be able to help him get here safely?"
"Yes, they should be able to bring him here without any issues. We've prepared a makeshift stretcher, and they're experienced in handling such situations. He'll be here soon."
Jasmine felt a sense of unease knowing that Randolph would be under her care in her cabin. She knew that the road to his recovery would be challenging, but she was determined to do everything she could to help him heal.
She turned to Seraphina and expressed her concern, saying, "Seraphina, I think it would be inappropriate for me to take care of Randolph alone. It's not just about his physical recovery; he might also need someone to talk to and keep him company. Would it be possible for someone from the village to stay with us, at least for a while?"
Seraphina considered her request and nodded thoughtfully, understanding the importance of companionship during the recovery process. "Of course, dear. I'll speak to the villagers about it. You won't be alone in this."
“Yeah, having someone else around would make the situation more bearable for both me and Randolph.”
"That's a thoughtful decision, dear. I'll make sure we arrange for someone to stay here with you two. Randolph will have the company he needs, and you won't bear the responsibility alone. Don’t worry, we'll take care of it."
As the villagers arrived at Jasmine's cabin, Seraphina took charge of the situation. She instructed the villagers on how to carefully carry Randolph into the cabin, making sure to support his injured arm.
"Alright, everyone, let's work together. We need to get this man inside and make him as comfortable as possible. Watch his arm; it's injured."
The villagers nodded in understanding and carefully lifted Randolph, following her instructions. They maneuvered him through the cabin's doorway and gently placed him on a makeshift bed that Jasmine had prepared.
Appreciating their help, Jasmine said with gratitude, "Thank you, all of you. You're making a real difference tonight."
Seraphina smiled kindly at Jasmine and replied, "We're a close-knit community, dear. When one of us is in need, we come together to help. Now let's take care of his wounds and make sure he gets enough rest.”
One of the villagers chimed in with a reassuring remark, "Don't worry, Jasmine. We'll take good care of him. He's in capable hands now."
Seraphina instructed him, "Please, go and fetch the physician immediately. We need to make sure Randolph receives the proper medical attention as soon as possible."
The villager nodded and hurried off to fetch the physician. As he left, the others continued to carefully settle Randolph inside the cabin, making him as comfortable as possible while they waited for the medical help to arrive.
Seraphina leaned over Randolph, her expression filled with concern. She gently asked, "Randolph, how are you feeling? Can you tell us what happened?"
Randolph winced as he tried to move slightly, his voice strained as he replied, "I'm in a lot of pain, ma'am. I lost my balance when a tree suddenly fell. I fell down a hillside and I think it injured my arm and legs. I'm not sure about the extent of my injuries."
"What do you need right now? Is there anything we can do to make you more comfortable before the physician comes?"
He grimaced in pain and replied, "I could use something to help with the pain and maybe some water. It's been quite an ordeal."
Seraphina nodded in understanding and said, "Of course, we'll do our best to make you comfortable. I'll get some pain relief medication for you, and Jasmine here will help you with a glass of water."
She then turned to glance at Jasmine before leaving to get the medication.
Understanding her unspoken request, Jasmine nodded and quickly fetched a glass of water for Randolph, hoping to give some relief while they awaited the physician's arrival.
She carefully helped support his head as he took a sip of water, ensuring he didn't strain his injured arm further. She spoke softly in her reassuring voice, "Take it slow, Randolph. We'll make sure you're as comfortable as possible until the physician arrives."
While wincing from the pain, he gazed at her with a pleading expression and spoke, “Jasmine, I need your urgent help.”
Furrowing her brows, she asked, “What do you need right now?"
"Please, find a way to send a secret messenger to the village. There's something important I must relay to them."
"Well, I'll see what I can do. I'll try to arrange a discreet message to the village.”
He looked at her intently for a few moments. “Jasmine, can I trust you?”
She met his gaze with sincerity and replied, "Yes, you can always trust me. I'll do my best to help you. Feel free to tell me what you want me to do."
"Please, get the paper and ink pen ready. I have some messages that need to be sent right away and I would appreciate your help to write them. Can you do that?"
Her eyes widened in surprise at his request, but she quickly composed herself and nodded. “Yeah, I can do that.”
She hurriedly left the room to get what he needed. She returned swiftly, holding the paper and ink pen in her hands, ready to help him with his urgent messages.
