Chapter 7: Change of Plan

Lord Aldric Gieffrinnet, who was the Alpha of the Twilight Pack, was an extremely formidable and daunting person. He was a very tall man, and his broad, strong shoulders gave him an air of authority and strength. His deep, silky black hair stood out against the white streaks that ran through it, showing how old and wise he was. His eyes were a sharp green color that showed he was very smart and had a strong will. Eirik was the name of the Beta's trusted second-in-command. He was a fierce and loyal wolf who was known for being great at hunting and always sticking with the pack. He wore a dark gray coat and had a scar across one eye that made him stand out. It was from a fight he had while protecting the pack's area. He was devoted to Lord Gieffrinnet and a respected leader in his own right. When the Alpha wasn't around, he was often in charge of the pack's safety and making strategic choices. As they approached Alpha, Eirik took a deep breath and cleared his throat. "Alpha, may I ask why you requested my presence? What urgent matter requires my attention?" Alpha turned to face him with a stern expression. "Very well, Beta. There's an important issue that I need to discuss with you." His impatience was evident as he prepared to reveal the reason for summoning Beta. Eirik furrowed his brows and said, "I was in the middle of the mission you commanded me earlier when this Gamma brought your message, Alpha. I had to abandon it before it was completed." "Yes. I need your report on the mission right away. How was it going?" Alpha said authoritatively, his eyes fixed on Eirik. "Speak quickly and give all the details." Eirik's voice trembled slightly as he responded, "The mission was progressing as planned until I received your urgent call. I had not yet completed the task you assigned. I’ve managed to set the trap for Alpha of the Moonstone pack as you ordered. He badly hurt himself when he fell into the ravine but a limping girl saved him. She came to his aid and alerted the villagers for help, which saved his life.” “Damn it! He got away again. It looked like luck was always on his side,” Alpha said in a low voice. He then turned to Eirik and asked, “What did you do then?” “Well, after giving it a lot of thought, I tried to track them. That Alpha and the people remain oblivious to our presence and the trap I had set for him. But just as I was about to put my plan into action, this Gamma came up to me and delivered your message." Alpha's stern expression remained unchanged as he absorbed the information. " You did a good job of following my orders. We'll go ahead with our plans later. Now, though, I need you to do something else.” "Of course, Alpha. What is your new task?" "The matter I need to discuss cannot wait. That’s why I sent the Gamma to deliver this urgent message. It concerns the safety and stability of our pack. Please, come closer, and I’ll explain everything." Beta Eirik nodded in understanding and stepped closer to Alpha, ready to listen and receive his leader's instructions. “I’ll assign you to secure a strategic territory for the pack's survival and dominance." Beta replied with a firm and respectful tone, "Understood, Alpha. I’m committed to the pack's survival and dominance. What specific instructions do you have for this mission?" Alpha Aldric replied with a grave tone, "You’ll head to secure a strategic territory, which is a critical hunting ground for our pack. Your mission is to establish our dominance in that area and ensure that no rival packs encroach upon what is rightfully ours. I want you to mark the territory clearly and defend it if necessary. The pack's future depends on this, Beta." He paused, his gaze unwavering, and then continued, "You've already proven your dedication by suspending your previous mission. Now, I entrust you with this new responsibility. Make sure you gather all the information you need before taking any action. We must ensure that our pack's territory remains secure, no matter the cost. Report back to me with your findings, and we’ll proceed accordingly." Eirik nodded firmly. "Alpha, I won't fail you. But can you clarify the specific territory you have in mind? Knowing the exact location will help me plan and execute the mission more effectively." Alpha's expression remained resolute as he replied, "The territory I have in mind is a region deep within the forest, rich in resources and strategically located. It's a prime hunting ground, and it also holds significance for our pack's history. You'll recognize it when you see it, Beta. Trust your instincts and our pack's legacy." "Alright, Alpha. I'll gather all the necessary information and defend the territory as needed. Our pack's safety and dominance will be my top priorities. I'll report back as soon as I have the findings." Alpha Aldric acknowledged Eirik's commitment with a nod of approval. "All right, Beta. It's great that you're so dedicated to the pack. You should bring the Gamma Alexei with you as he can help you gather information. Remember, we must be well-informed before taking any action. The future of our pack depends on it." Alexei, the Gamma who had been standing quietly nearby, stepped forward, ready to follow Beta Eirik's lead on this important mission. "I'm at your service, Beta. Together, we'll ensure to help gather the information that Alpha needs. Let's get started." With that, Alpha dismissed Beta Eirik and Gamma Alexei to carry out the mission, a task that would undoubtedly test their skills, determination, and loyalty to the pack. They immediately set out on their task to protect the key area. They took slow, steady steps and were aware of all the hints and signs that could help them with their mission. Eirik exchanged look briefly with Alexei as he said, "We have a significant task ahead of us, Gamma. The Alpha has entrusted us with securing this territory, and we must not take it lightly. This is our responsibility and we promise to do whatever it takes to follow their Alpha's orders." They looked at each other for a moment before Eirik said, "We have a big job to do, Gamma. Our Alpha has given us a task, which we must not take lightly. We are responsible for this and will do whatever it takes to follow his orders.” Alexei nodded in agreement. "You're right, Beta. The Twilight Pack's future depends on our success. We'll leave no stone unturned." With each step, they went deeper into the forest, ready to face the difficulties that lay ahead and get the important information that would shape the future of the Twilight Pack.
