SOMEWHERE ON THE MEDITERRANEAN Jane studied the daily ship itinerary and looked up at Charles. “Nick is staying with Maggie in her room. They must have recognized each other, so we can progress to the next step of our plan. Charles’s eyes narrowed as he rubbed the surface of a tattered photo of Nick and Maggie. It was a picture taken nineteen years ago at a Fourth of July celebration. He methodically moved his finger over a locket visible around Maggie’s neck. He looked over at Jane and said, “I think that a knife would work for our plan. I can’t agree with you that you could find another way to finish the job, and I don’t believe that finding another weapon would be easy. The security is very tight coming and going to get on and off this ship. I want both of them to suffer this time.
