Chapter 40
Monday came and when Sam saw Janie at school, she waited to see if Meri said anything to her family but since there was nothing from Janie, she felt safe that Meri had not said anything to her family over the weekend.
It was a relaxed week of practice for the team and Ms. Hamm even let Sam run the drills. She still felt uneasy being the team captain and she felt she had to work harder than her teammates to prove she deserved the right to lead the team. It was a quiet uneventful week and it was their last game before their winter break. It was an away game, so Sam wasn’t sure if Meri would be at the game. Ms. Hamm told her team that even though this team wasn’t at the level of previous opponents, she still wanted the same level of focus and effort from her team.
