Chapter 27
The next game, the team was in the locker room beforehand and Ms. Hamm gave her usual pregame talk. The team took the court and readied for the game to start. The other team had learned two things: that you could rattle Sam by talking trash to her and she was a lesbian. Apparently, players on other teams found out she was a lesbian and presumed they could incite her to do something stupid by instigating her like the last opponent had. She assumed someone from school must have spread rumors to players on other teams. She hoped it wasn’t one of her teammates but it was hard not to suspect the ones who didn’t want her on the team.
