Chapter One: A Chance Encounter
Emma was running late for her shift at the café. She had overslept and was now rushing down the busy streets of downtown, her mind focused on getting to work on time. She was so preoccupied that she didn't even notice the man standing in front of her until they collided.
"I'm so sorry!" Emma exclaimed as she stumbled back, her coffee spilling all over the man's shirt. She was mortified and expected the man to be angry, but instead, he just laughed and offered her a kind smile.
"It's no problem," he said, brushing off the coffee stains. "I needed to cool down anyway. It's a scorcher today."
Emma was taken aback by his easy-going demeanor and the way his blue eyes twinkled with amusement. They struck up a conversation, and as it turned out, they had a lot in common. They talked about their favorite books, music, and movies, and before she knew it, Emma's shift at the café was over.
She couldn't believe how much time had flown by. She had never met someone who she connected with so easily, and she felt a fluttering in her stomach. Could this be the start of something special? She hoped so.
