Where I'm Coming From
Apparently it means industriousness, classy isn't it?however to me it sounds more like hard labour, pain and a lot of obstacles to overcome. And you may be wondering what I'm talking about, well that's just my name Amelia,a name my parents did not dim fit to give that it had to be given to me by a stranger whom unfortunately I do not know because she died before I could even utter the word "ma" .Many may argue that at this point I am just being ungrateful because oh well both of my parents are still alive,I have a loving sister and two very good friends,I mean I hope they are good friends because there is only one thing that we can be sure is a constant in this life and that is change.Do not get me wrong ,I love them so very much but it is also very true that they are human beings and as such also have their own shortcomings.
I grew up in a township but for most of my childhood there was no electricity so I have had my own share of struggles.I know the warmth of burning coal in a pierced 20L tin of oil on a cold winter's day,it has a perculiar scent it is warm but leave it long enough in a room that is not ventilated then it can surely solve all your problems by that I mean kill you.I know the sound of rain hitting the corrugated iron roof-how calming and I equally know the struggle of moving the furniture around when it starts to rain because when it rains it pours and when it pours it means it will surely find it's way through those pores around the nails in the roof and the parts that are not aligned and before you know it mom's wardrobe is swelling like the stomachs of these little girls in my neighbourhood whom I would have never guessed they already had knowledge of s****l i*********e until the proof was evident. But truly I must say that those were the good days.I am probably saying this because at that time I did not know what sadness was so I did not know I was an unhappy child well you know the whole saying about what you do not know not hurting you ,it was one of those scenarios.I will have you know though.that I was a very brilliant student.I learnt how to turn letters into words before any of my classmates could.I went for competitions and won.Intellectually I was the envy of all the girls in my class but when it comes to appearance well that is just a story for yet another day.
