Short chapbook of 36 poems which capture the ephemeral quality of nature. In these pages, autumn's dying leaves crumple beneath winter's shroud of snow, and the last fleeting days of the year slip away forever.
Tragic, melancholy, bittersweet ... these poems embrace and revel in the changing seasons, which mirror so closely the rhythm of the human heart.
Mallards
Mallards, emerald heads dark
against the dismal waters of the pond
where they"ve chosen to rest
for just a little while.
They remind me of you when they swim,
rippling the water in their wake
disrupting the pond"s calm surface
the way you disrupted my life
when you swam into it then flew
away
like the mallards who have landed
by chance
in this pond who
once gone
will never return.
