Act Two

1054 Words
Dexter Fishbourne is an IT expert in a shopping mall. He is in charge of the digital software that the shopping mall operates on. The software is used for conducting transactions with customers and used in arranging the documents of the shopping mall in an orderly manner. The software is also used in protecting the company records from external access and hackers who might want to gain access to the records. He is the Technical Director of the company and has three people who work under him; Tessa, Raymond and an intern, Toby. Tessa Thomas is closer to Dexter as she has been in company for a long time and she is Dexter’s assistant in the office. She is also an IT expert who likes to share knowledge and collect from Dexter. Raymond is Dexter’s second assistant. He is a younger man in his early 20s and as such the age gap between Raymond and Dexter creates some space between them. He talks more to Toby than he does with Tessa and Dexter. He still has a very good relationship with Dexter as Dexter is trying to mentor him in their field. Toby is an intern who usually goes on errands for the rest of the team. He is still treated as a member of the team and sometimes is given more technical tasks to perform. Dexter, unlike the general misconception about IT experts, is a social person and an extrovert. He knows how to relate with others and maintain a good friendship with others. His colleagues count on him because he is the kind of person that always has his friends back and knows how to hold a secret. He knows how to have fun and has a good sense of fashion. He is not the kind of person to cover himself in designers, but he knows how to dress nice. He is a confident man and is well built. A caucasian man of 185cm tall and dark hair. Dexter comes to the office and everything is normal. Everyone is going about their business and getting ready for the official time for opening of the mall to customers. He goes to the office and his team; Tessa, Raymond and Toby are already in the office and busy with different tasks. He greets everybody and they tell him that HR was looking for him. He asks what the problem was and no one seems to know so they direct him to go and meet the manager which he does immediately he drops his laptop bag. Dexter goes to meet the MD and he tells Dexter that the HR officer had an emergency and she had to go and attend to. The manager explains to Dexter that the HR officer had some appointments with some new applicants for a job opening at the mall so he tells Dexter that he does not trust anyone else in the office to rise up to the occasion and cover up for the HR officer because very few people are dedicated to the company out of passion or for the wellbeing of the company so they wouldn’t be able to interview the applicants objectively. He tells Dexter that Dexter will be the one to fill in for the HR and will conduct three job interviews that morning and that the applicants were already waiting. Dexter who feels completely destabilized and confused manages to leave the manager’s office and can only think about how his day has been disrupted and how all his plans for the day has been spoilt because he was planning to use the free time today to attend to a new software that he is developing. He arrives his office and starts muttering silently to himself but the members of his team find it amusing as it is a habit of his to grumble silently when things don’t go his way. Dexter tells Tessa what the manager requested of him and that she will be in charge of the office while he is away. Dexter goes into the conference hall and sets up himself for the interviews. He then buzzes the secretary to start ushering the interviewees. The first applicant is Sharon and she dazzles Dexter completely. He immediately develops feelings for her before she sits across him. He observes her for a while and senses naiveness in her and an excited complex within her. She tells him about herself and her educational background. She explains to him that she is a very organized person and is very good with numbers that is why she is applying for a job in the logistics department. She tells Dexter that she has never really had a job except managing her families business and the family business recorded exponential growth during that period. Dexter who is convinced beyond reasonable doubt that she is the one for the job tells her that he will get back at her. Sharon leaves and heads out of the conference hall while the next person for the interview comes in for her own interview. All though this other applicant is smart, she does not strike and string any intellectual or professional interest in Dexter. So he cuts the interview short and calls for the last applicant. Before leaving the shopping mall, Sharon decides to take a walk round the shopping mall and observe the things being put up for sale and the people doing the selling. She observes the different kinds of merchandise which vary in size and price and quality. She also pays attention to the shopping outlets and brands that are occupied by people who are trying to buy some merchandise. She observes the different people and their attitudes while they go shopping. Her sharp senses draw her attention to two men staring at her. She notices that the men are staring at her like two men who just saw an intruder in their territory. Her senses pick up a smell and she realizes that these men are not ordinary human beings but werewolves belonging to a different pack. She immediately prepares herself on the defensive and fixes her gaze on the men as she walks past them. The men leave behind her and head for an exit which makes Sharon relax a little but she leaves the mall shortly after them.
