Against the pack

Act Three

The two men who met Sharon at the mall walk into an auto repair shop and go to the office. The auto mechanic shop is a family business run by Hugo Penshak. Hugo Penshak is an alpha werewolf of the werewolf pack that operates in the region and the two men that saw Sharon at the mall, Clayton and Raul are betas in the park. They came to Hugo almost as soon as they encountered Sharon in the mall. They tell Hugo about Sharon and that she was alone. Hugo tells them that she might have been passing through and as such they have nothing to be bothered about. Raul tells Hugo that it is possible that she is here with her pack and she might just be mapping the city so Hugo tells them to look for her and find out what she wants in their territory.

Hugo Penshak is the alpha of the werewolves that operate in that region. A werewolf pack of seven, Hugo is an alpha that does not hesitate to flex his authority over his pack and people around. Although his true identity and that of his pack is secret except to few, they operate as a gang and serve as street muscle for those who are able to afford them. Hugo knows that if he wants to climb the ladder of the underground world, he has to keep his business discreet and he does that effectively by maintaining the secrecy of his pack and handling the members of his pack with an iron fist.

Hugo and his pack were not born werewolves, they were turned and as such they shapeshift only when there is full moon. He has two kids who inherited the werewolf curse and a wife who is human. Hugo is stout in physical appearance and has a round belly and hairy skin. He has a hoarse voice and is always smoking his cigar which does not go well with his wife but she does not bring it up because Hugo has a temper that is a result of his werewolf condition.

Sharon starts work in the mall and is in charge of taking account of the inventory. This reduces her encounter with customers to the minimum. She likes the job because not only does she get the isolation she needs, but she also gets to know a variety of products that she never knew existed. Tools used in construction, kitchen and garden utensils, home and office appliances, food products and electrical appliances and a variety of other products that she has never seen. She likes her job and the people that work around her as they were welcoming to her and did not give her any preferential treatment. She likes their attitude towards work and their readiness to assist her in the case of any confusion or set back.

Dexter on the other hand has been monitoring Sharon from the security camera and seems to be distracted from his work. Tessa notices this and asks Dexter to talk to Sharon if he really likes her and stop acting weird because of her. Dexter who is not shy of talking to the opposite s*x doesn’t feel so comfortable about it so he lets it go. But does not stop stealing glances at her.

Later that day, while Sharon is preparing to leave for home after the day’s work, she runs into Dexter, Tessa and Raymond. Sharon thanks Dexter for giving her the opportunity to work with them but Dexter tells her that he did not do anything commendable. That all he did was to conduct the interview, the selection was done by HR. Tessa, in a bid to assist Dexter and give him a chance to woo Sharon asks her if she can join them as they are about to go for dinner and have a couple of drinks. She tries to turn them down but after some pressure from Tessa, Sharon gives in.

They go to a restaurant to have dinner and catch up on their lives. Raymond and Tessa talk generally about the mall and the people that work in the mall. They talk about how people in the mall think that their department is made up of nerds but they don’t know that the department houses the most intelligent and fun individuals in the mall. Dexter tries to find out more about Sharon’s private life and her history. Sharon gives him vague answers but let’s them know that she is a trustworthy person that believes in loyalty.

While they are having dinner, Raul walks into the restaurant and sits not far from them. Sharon immediately picks his smell but does not look up for him. She pretends like she does not sense him and continues her conversation with her new friends. Tessa suggests that they should go to a bar to have shots but Raymond says he is not up for it and so does Dexter but Sharon agrees so as to prevent Raul from following her and knowing where she lives. Dexter then agrees to go with them.

Raul walks out of the restaurant to call Clayton. He tells Clayton that he has found Sharon and she is with company. He tells Clayton that Sharon was the only werewolf among the rest. Clayton tells Raul to continue tracking her so that they can know where she lives and take the information to Hugo. Raul ends the call and makes to return to the restaurant only to find out that Sharon has been eaves dropping on him. He then tries to maintain an intimidating stance but before he can make a move, Sharon knocks him out unconscious and mixes her smell with a lot of perfume from her bag which makes it difficult for Raul to pick an accurate smell.

Sharon follows Dexter and Tessa to a bar to have some drinks. On getting to the bar, Tessa receives a call about a break-in at her house. She has to leave Sharon and Dexter at the bar. Dexter knows that Tessa did this purposely and he as much as he finds it cunning, he appreciates it. He and Sharon spend the rest of the night drinking and having fun with each other.
