Shane
“Sir we have rogue attacks close to the boarder of the territory. I’m going to start doubling up the patrols and increase training..” Beta Cory was droning on about the same thing we discussed the entire time we trained. That’s when it happened. I completely ignored him.
I’ve waited my entire life for this moment. When I walked into the chow hall and smelled that scent, I was hooked. Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever smelled. I followed that amazing smell to the kitchen, slamming the door open.
“MATE!” I scanned the room but didn’t see the person that matched the scent. ”Where are you!” I moved so that I could get a better look into the kitchen.
There she was, she was bent over getting something out of the oven. The only part of her I could see was her bottom, and it was immaculate. I could tell she was startled as she stood up and turned around. I quickly made my way over to her and buried my face into her neck and hugging her tightly. Inhaling that wonderful smell, filling my soul with my mates scent, permanently marking its place within my heart. I could hear the clattering from the pan on the floor.
“Alpha Shane.” The way my named rolled off her tongue was like music to my ears. I nibbled on her neck, letting out a small moan as I did so.
“Mate.” I was coming down from that initial draw to her. I couldn’t wait to actually look at her, get to know her, find out her wants and make all her dreams come true. I hesitantly let go of her and stepped back, taking in how beautiful my mate is.
I reached up and touched her hair. It was so soft and red, or is that orange, whatever color its considered is beautiful. Her eyes hypnotizing as I wanted to get a closer look at the ring of yellow around her pupils. Her lips, pink and soft, ready to be kissed. I couldn’t help but smile at how perfect she is. I took a step back and that’s when I realized how horrible this was. She was dressed like an omega.
“Who are you?” I could feel her gasp.
“I’m Kat Peterson Alpha.” She hesitated giving me her last name. Like she knew what was about to happen next.
“And you’re an omega, born and raised?”
“I’m an orphan Alpha, today is my eighteenth birthday, this is the same station givin to everyone in the orphanage as you know, and I’ve worked here, doing this, since I can remember.” My heart broke with every word she said.
“So you don’t have your wolf yet.”
“No Alpha. I don’t have my wolf yet.” I could see it in her eyes. She knew what I was about to do.
“Good this will be easier then.”
“What will be easier Al.. Alpha?” Her nervousness was starting to show, and her eyes started to water.
“I Alpha Shane Stormrage of the Hidden Moon Pack reject you Kat Peterson as my true mate.” The words had barely left my mouth as a crippling pain ran through my body. Every muscle tensing and burning, the pain intensifying more with every second that ticks by.
“But..” She mumbled out a pathetic noise as the pain rippled through her as well. She dropped to her knees, wrapping her arms around herself. “Can we at least..”
“NO! Accept the rejection and be done with it! An omega can NOT be my mate.” My body was raked with pain, but somehow I stood strong.
“I Kat Peterson acc.. accept your rejection.” She started heavily crying. I could tell she was in just as much pain as I was. She didn’t have her wolf to help her through it though. She was all alone. Good thing about her not having her wolf yet, is that she only needs to heal one broken heart, not two.
“I can’t have a weak mate like you, how cruel of the moon goddess to mate me with someone who can’t lead or help protect this pack. Stay out of my sight, or I will have you exiled.”
“Ye.. yes Alpha.” She stayed on the floor looking down and she tried to muffle her crying.
I couldn’t stand looking at this pathetic omega any longer. I walked out of the kitchen past Beta Cory and out of the chow hall.
“Sir, do you think that wise?” Beta Cory asked as he had just witnessed everything. He’s made it openly clear how much the mate bond means to him and he can’t wait to find his mate. But he’s not an Alpha.
“I can’t afford a weak mate to lead this pack. She wasn’t worthy.”
“The Moon Goddess thought she was worthy.”
“She must’ve chose wrong then, because I will not mate a pathetic omega.” I quickened my pace as to get as far away from the chow hall as possible.
“But Alpha.”
“Enough!” I turned to face him eye to eye. “It’s done and there is no going back now. I’m doing what’s best for the pack. I’m sure I’ll find a worthy chosen mate that will be a better fit for the pack.”
“Yes Alpha.”
Kat
It happened just like I thought it would. I had hope that he wasn’t going to do that when he touched me. The way he looked at me for just a few seconds, I thought I was on cloud nine and that life couldn’t get any better. When he stepped back and I saw that realization hit, I knew. I knew he was going to reject me. I’m to weak. I’m not worthy of having an Alpha mate.
The pain still ripping through me, feels like every muscle in my body is cramping at the same time. Once he leaves the kitchen I look up and see the mess I’ve created. The rest of the kitchen staff just stares at me. No one even offers to help me up.
I try my best to ignore the pain, still crying and start to gather the tray and biscuits that got dropped when the Alpha found me. I get all of the wasted biscuits back on the tray and stand up. The pain is even worse standing up. My body starts to tremble as I walk towards the giant trash can to throw away the mess. Silent tears falling from the eyes as I cross the room, when I finally get to the trash bin my arms give out and I dump the entire tray into the bin.
“I can’t be here.” I look up at Regina, the head of the kitchen staff. She looks back at me apologetically. I walk towards the exit, silent tears still falling from my eyes. “I can’t be anywhere near him again.’’
