So I had somehow ended up in an unfortunate situation, of having to spend time with my cousin, and mate. It's sad that even I'm not even crazy enough to make up s**t like this.
"It's good to see you again." Her words dripped with sarcasm.
Not that I could blame her. I hadn't spoken to her in about 20 years. But she didn't know what I had been through. What I had to do to survive. She couldn't imagine what it was like. Immortality meant outliving everyone who doesn't get to live forever. Losing the people you had began to care about. She most likely would never experience that. She has never had anyone she loved die because of her. I have.
My father murdered anyone I have ever loved. My mother, my friends, my family, everyone except Luca. And he was just using him to send a message. I didn't want to be his heir, and Luca was human. I humiliated him by publicly renouncing the throne, so he killed them. So in a way, I murdered my family. I am the reason they are dead.
"--And you don't even care!" Selene screamed. That's probably true.
"About what exactly?" I realized that I had missed an entire lecture. Oops.
"You always were just a selfish b***h!" That's also true.
"I don't even know what you are talking about." That's a lie.
"You left everyone. You left your family! You left everyone who ever loved you!"
"No. I didn't! They were all murdered! You couldn't have forgotten." I scoffed. She looked stunned. She actually had forgotten. "You still think I'm a selfish b***h? Have you met yourself!"
She stepped forward angrily. Obviously, she didn't like it when other people called her out. Makes sense. People don't usually challenge the most powerful entities in the world. Unless they are clueless or have a death wish. Liam shakily took a step forward and put his hand on my shoulder. I tensed up. "Moon Goddess, I apologize. I'm extremely sorry for my mate's disrespect. She doesn't mean any of it."
I shook his hand off. "Like hell I don't. I say what I mean, and I sure as hell mean that s**t. And I will never apologize. It might help deflate her ego." I glared at them defiantly.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed!"
"No."
"Then what the hell are you doing? She will kill you."
"No, she won't."
"She's a goddess. You couldn't have forgotten." Now it was my turn to be stunned. He had used my own words against me. I didn't think he had it in him. I smirked. There was hope for him yet.
"And? She would never hurt family." I acted innocent and turned to Selene, "Would you?"
I started laughing at the look on Liam's face when Selene didn't deny it.
Liam pointed at me. "So you are like a demigod or something? Do you have one of the same parents?
"Hell no. Have you met her parents? They are the most entitled bitchy people around." Selene didn't deny that comment either.
"And about who I am, well you don't even know my name, why would I possibly tell you who I am? Less than 5 people know on this earth know who I am, and what my lineage is, and you think that you are special? You are nothing but a disgusting dog, who won't let me go because of some damn bond." I buried my head in my hands. "Jesus."
I felt some heat on my skin, and I realized that my powers had returned. I quickly removed my hands because I enjoyed having my eyebrows.
I quickly extinguished the fire and turned toward Selene. "You can't tell anyone. As far as you know, I was never here. You never saw me. I might as well be dead. And if you won't keep my secret, you won't live long enough to regret it."
She called back, "Is that a threat? You don't have your father to protect you anymore."
"No." I shook my head at her and I began to walk away, "It's a promise. You may not be able to kill me, but I will kill you and not think twice about it. It's your choice. I really hope you make the right decision. Because I don't want to kill you, but I will. Peace Motherfuckers."
I stopped and turned around, "Liam, we're leaving. Let's go." He just had to ruin my exit. Sigh.
Liam bowed to Selene. "It was an honor to be graced by your presence, Moon Goddess." I snorted and Liam glared at me. I don't understand what's so special about her.
When we were out of earshot, I said, "Dude, I still don't understand why you were bowing to someone who ran from her parents and tried to become a stripper." I snickered.
"The Moon Goddess would never do that! She actually has self respect." That was a joke right? Please tell me that was a joke. Actually, I don't care whether or not that was a joke, I laughed anyway.
"And you need to stop being an egotistical b***h and understand that when people are deserving of your respect. She's your superior, she could have killed you. Hell, I would've if you were anyone else." He could try.
"She isn't my superior and neither are you. And I swear on my mother's spirit, one day very soon, you will both bow to me. Until then, don't mention her name. I don't want to hear it ever again. Actually, just shut the f**k up. I don't want to hear your voice."
He ignored me as I had expected, but what he said next left me speechless. "Because of what you did out there, you could've died. I could've died for defending you. Why would you do that? Why would you risk that? You're my mate. Why don't you care about me?" f**k.
