Chapter 13

943 Words
I looked around my father's throne room. I hated this place. It reminded me of everything I hate about myself.  It was so lavish. It truly showed the riches part of the whole devil thing. But I couldn't leave, no matter how much I wanted to, I couldn't escape. Because I would lose Luca, and that would kill me. I was still a prisoner. I couldn't see Luca, and I couldn't kill Ronan or my betrothed, basically I couldn't do anything I actually wanted to do. "Alexia." I heard a voice, effectively snapping me out of my thoughts.  I turned to see Sebastian. "What do you want?" I hated him. And it wasn't because he was some gold digger b***h that wanted the throne, because he wasn't.  It was because he would do anything, literally anything for his father's approval. To please Ronan. And in my eyes, that made him the enemy. "My father would like to see you." "Your father can go f**k himself." "Please. He just wants to talk. If it helps, I'll be there. He won't get away with anything." "Thank you, Sebastian." My voice was dripping with sarcasm, "That statement inspires so much confidence." I became serious, "I'll go, but if your father steps out of line, and tries anything, I won't hesitate to end his life. My father wants you alive, not him." I was honestly hoping he would step out of line.  He led me down the halls, "Where are we going exactly?" He shrugged, "My father's private quarters." Of course we were. We got to the door, and Sebastian went to knock, but I pushed him out of the way, and kicked the door down. The more damage I could do, the better. I saw Ronan. "Okay, asshole. You have thirty seconds. You better talk quickly." Sebastian retreated to the back of the room.  "Hello, Alexia." He said my name slowly. Creepy bastard. "20 seconds. If I was summoned for no reason, I will not hesitate to burn you alive." "No, I have news for you. Your mother, she had my child." Suddenly, I didn't care how long it took. I had to know what he was talking about. "No. She would've told me." "Well, she hid her from me. I'm not sure she wanted anyone to know. Even you." I didn't feel betrayed like he wanted me to. I understood. Sometimes you have a secret that you can't tell anyone. "And? Get to the point, asshole." "So, when I finally found my daughter, I gave your mother to Damien. It was her punishment. And," he smiled wickedly, "that act got me in good with him. It's good to have a lasting ally in the devil." r"Punishment? She was human. What the hell is wrong with you? You stole her from her home, destroyed her life. She was a good person. She didn't deserve that. She didn't deserve any of it. And it's all your fault." My eyes narrowed, "I'm gonna f*****g kill you." "Wait! I haven't told you the best part! You still don't know everything about your mother. But I do." "You know, to me, that sounds like the last resort of a dead man. Why would I even believe you?" "No reason. But you won't kill me once you hear me out." By then I was clenching and unclenching my fist. The need to kill him was so strong. He started, "My people, they don't really accept inter-species relationships, especially not ones like those. They see humans as food, and they are. Nothing more, but I liked her. I wanted to keep your mother. She was so pretty, the favorite of all my toys." I mean, is he trying to get himself killed? I'm genuinely curious. "So, I turned her. It solved all of my problems. And she lasted longer in bed." I was barely controlling myself. Tears streamed from my eyes as I fought to control my anger. He was toying with me. "Honestly, it's probably why you got the godly gene. You're welcome." "I'm not thankful, actually, if I wasn't immortal my mother would be alive. My father wanted me to take the throne, and when I wouldn't, he killed her. Because of me. And you were right, the only reason you are still alive is because you can tell me where to find my sister. Now, talk, jackass." "And give up my only leverage? I'd have to be stupid to do that, or just in a rush to die." "I don't know about in a rush to die, but lucky for me, you are stupid. And a f*****g psychopath." He scowled and grabbed my arms. He leaned in as if he was going to kiss me. I tried to get him to stop, but he had a mental block I place. He had my hands bound. I was practically powerless.  He was so close to my face, and I was preparing to knee him in the groin as a last defense. But then I heard, "Father, NO!" In a flash of speed, Ronan was thrown across the room and out the window. I looked at Sebastian and gave him a nod as if to say 'thank you'. He gave me a sad smile in return. I didn't know what to do other than return to my quarters and sleep on it. I fell asleep quickly.  My sleep was not comfortable. I was haunted by dreams of my mother, her death, and some of the things I had to do to survive. My sleep was restless. Tormented. I jolted awake. I was gasping for breath and sweating profusely. The dreams had been a message. A sign of something I needed to do.  I had one goal. Killing Damien would have to take a backseat. I had no time to wait. Right now, I needed to find my sister.
