Harrison had always seen himself as the ambitious one, the brother who felt overshadowed by Liam’s success and charm. But now, with Liam’s reputation in jeopardy and Emily’s family facing backlash, Harrison saw an opportunity to finally step out of Liam’s shadow. He could manipulate the situation to his advantage, and he intended to do just that.
As he paced around his office, Harrison began to formulate a plan. He would need to keep the pressure on Liam, to ensure that the rift between him and Emily widened. If he could drive a wedge between them, he could weaken Liam’s resolve and make it easier to take control of the family business.
He picked up his phone and dialled a number. “Frank, it’s me,” he said when the mechanic answered. “I need to talk to you about our arrangement. We need to make sure that Liam stays on the defensive. I want you to keep up the story about Emily. Make it sound convincing.”
Frank hesitated on the other end. “But what if they find out the truth? I don’t want to get caught up in this mess.”
“Don’t worry about that,” Harrison replied, his voice cold and commanding. “Just stick to the script. If you do this right, you’ll come out of this with a nice payout and no one will be the wiser. Besides, if Liam and Emily are at each other’s throats, it only benefits us both.”
After hanging up, Harrison felt a surge of confidence. He had always been good at playing the long game, and this was no different. He would manipulate the narrative, ensuring that Liam remained the villain in the eyes of everyone around him.
After Liam was discharged from the hospital, he faced a new reality as he adjusted to life in a wheelchair. The once vibrant and active man now relied on others for assistance, which was a bitter pill to swallow. Determined to regain some semblance of control, he hired Julia, a caregiver with a warm demeanour and a seemingly genuine desire to help.
On the day he banished Emily’s parents from the farm, Liam felt a mix of anger and confusion. He believed he was protecting his family from the perceived threat they posed, influenced by Harrison’s manipulative whispers. Julia, ever supportive, accompanied him to the farm, offering encouragement as he confronted Emily’s parents.
As they arrived, the atmosphere was tense. Emily’s parents stood on the porch, their expressions a mix of hurt and disbelief. Liam, fueled by a sense of betrayal and the lingering influence of Harrison, delivered his ultimatum. Julia stood by his side, her presence a constant reminder of his new reality, but her eyes glinted with something more—an ambition that was not entirely altruistic
Mr Philips, Emily’s father, had always regarded Liam as a son. He had dedicated years of service to the Lucas family, believing that their loyalty would be reciprocated. Seeing Liam now, a shadow of his former self, filled him with concern, but the anger that bubbled beneath the surface was hard to contain. “Liam, We’re here to support you,” he said, his voice steady but laced with worry.
Mrs. Philips stood beside her husband, her heart aching for her daughter. She had noticed the new love between Emily and Liam, and the thought of being cast aside felt like a knife to her heart. “Please, Liam, we just want to help. Emily is worried sick about you,” she pleaded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
But Liam, influenced by Harrison’s manipulations and his insecurities, was resolute. “I can’t have you here anymore. You’re a distraction, and I need to focus on my recovery,” he said, his tone cold and dismissive. The words felt like a betrayal, and the hurt in his voice cut deep.
