(Kane's POV)
I gripped the steering wheel tighter as Alpha Lucian's anger filled the car like a physical force. His steel-gray eyes had darkened to storm clouds after his cryptic conversation with Dr. Elara. She had made some comment about his question being philosophical rather than practical, and his Alpha presence had surged in response.
"Drive around the block," he ordered, his voice deceptively calm despite the tension radiating from him.
I complied immediately, making a smooth turn away from Mrs. James's pack house. Through the rearview mirror, I saw him staring out the window, jaw clenched.
"She's working on the hospital proposal revisions tonight," I offered carefully, hoping to ease his mood.
