“Yeah.“ I didn't know what to expect from Sergei.

“Yeah.“ He huffed. “I need to take a minute.“
I wanted to snap at him to hurry up about it, but he looked genuinely upset about whatever it is he was about to say.
“Casey is my mate.“ He said it quietly, but I heard him loud and clear. Now I understand why he looks so broken. I would be, too.
“Are… are you sure?“
“Yes. I couldn't believe it at first. I mean, when you first brought her in, I didn't know who she was, so I was happy, and I thought it was time for me to be happy too.“
“What about when you found out who she was?“
