''Penny, Karen! Wake up, girls, It's time to go to school.'' I heard mom call from the other side of the door.
The both of us groaned at the same time, taking us some time to process that we had to get up for school. It was obvious that neither of us was looking forward to it, same as always. Sitting up on our beds, we stared at each other from our corners of the room, both of us too sleepy to say anything. Karen's hair was a mess, and mine probably was, as well. I stood up and made my way to the bathroom, trying my best to avoid looking at myself in the mirror.
After Karen and I both showered and got ready, we went downstairs to join the others. Bryson was already eating his syrup covered scrambled eggs, dad was enjoying his eggs and bacon while working on his laptop, and mom looked up from her peanut butter toasts and smiled at us. Our plates were already served. "Good morning, my beauties." she greeted us as we sat down.
"Morning." we muttered at the same time. I wasn't really hungry, but I also couldn't turn down a bacon and egg sandwich.
"I bet you guys are very excited to go to school, huh?" dad said, not taking his eyes off of the screen.
"Super excited." Karen said sarcastically.
"How was the game last night?" mom asked, taking a bite of her toast.
I shrugged. ''It was good. We won.''
"Oh, that's great!," she grinned. ''And how was Scott? This was his first time playing, right?''
I nodded. She obviously didn't know about the terrifying scene I witnessed yesterday. ''Yeah, he played well. Actually, the team won thanks to him.''
Mom looked impressed. "You don't say? He must be a natural, then."
Yeah... a supernatural.
"I guess." I shrugged.
"How is he, by the way?," she asked, and I tried my best not to snap. She chose the wrong timing to talk about him. "We haven't seen him in a while."
"He's fine."
"And how is he doing in school?," she asked again. "Melissa told me that he was struggling to keep good grades."
I closed my eyes and sighed quietly. "Yeah, he's trying his best."
"Well, good," she said, and just when I thought that she was gonna finally drop it, she asked, "And does he have a girlfriend?"
I tried my best to maintain my composure, but it was getting harder by the second. "I don't know, mom."
"You should invite him to dinner here sometime," dad suggested. "Him and Melissa haven't visited in a while, so we could plan to-"
"Dad, how was the basketball game last night?" Karen cut him off, trying to change the subject.
This seemed to be effective, since dad took off his glasses and unglued his stare from the computer screen. "It was a fraud," he started. "The other team was cheating, I'm sure of it. Or someone must've paid the referees to make my team lose, and I still stand by that-"
At that point, I wasn't even listening to his constant ranting, I just wanted to finish eating and leave as soon as possible.

When the car stopped in front of the school, Karen, Bryson and I were quick to hop off. "I love you all!" mom called from the car, and we waved at her as she drove away.
The first people to greet me once I entered the school were Mel and Sam, who basically ran towards me once they saw me. "Jackson's been talking s**t about Scott this whole morning." was the first thing Mel said.
"Yeah, and he keeps bragging about how he was the one who gave the team their victory." Sam added.
''Oh, please,'' I scoffed. "He could barely get a goal and he wants to seem like he was the star of the game? Give me a break. And then Lydia asks me why I don't like him."
Both of them laughed as the three of us reached our lockers. While Mel and Sam opened theirs, I took out my phone to see what time it was. 7:25am. And then, before I could even put my phone back in my pocket, someone was dragging me by the arm, away from the other two, who were too wrapped up in a conversation to even notice that I was gone, and slowly they were out of sight. "What the-" when the person stopped dragging me, I turned around to see that it was just Allison, who was grinning from ear to ear. ''Allison, you could've been less creepy, you know."
She giggled. ''Sorry. I just gotta tell you something very important.''
''What?'' I asked, though I kind of already had an idea of what it was.
Her grin grew bigger, if that was even possible. ''We kissed.''
My blood started to boil as soon as she said those two words, but I tried to look calm on the surface. Trying to brush away the horrible image, I started to play dumb. ''Oh... you and Scott?''
She nodded violently.
"Oh."
"Yeah," she said, her grin slowly disappearing. I guess she expected a different reaction. ''Is this weird for you? You know, since he's your best friend, and all? Because if it is then I totally understand. And if you want I can just-'' I cut her off before she could continue.
''No, It's okay, Allison,'' Not. "It's kind of shocking that you guys already kissed."
And sickening.
"Yeah, I know," She sighed. "And I just moved here. But, I don't know, he's so sweet..."
She was making it so hard for me not to go at her. ''Yeah. Just try and get to know him better before things happen.''
And here I am giving her advice, great...
"I will," She smiled. ''Well, I just wanted to go ahead and tell you that. I should go eat something before I faint. Wanna join me?"
"No thanks, I already had breakfast, but you go ahead." I said.
"Oh, okay," she said, nodding. "Well, bye, Penny!''
''Bye.'' and with that, she left.
Calm down, Penny. Just, calm down I thought as I walked back to the lockers once again. My pace stopped once I saw Scott murdering one of the lockers, and growling out in anger. I didn't know what had happened to him, but I was very certain that that was not his locker. ''Scott, what the hell are you doing?'' I questioned as I tried to catch his attention, walking closer towards him.
When he stopped to look at me, his face softened. I only switched my stare from the locker to him. He sighed, running his hands through his face. ''I'm sorry. I just...''
''You just what?,'' I asked, folding my arms over my chest. "You just like to beat up innocent lockers that have done nothing to y-"
''Have you seen Allison?'' he asked instead of letting me finish my question.
I huffed. So, he was acting like an i***t because of her. I should've known. ''Yes, I've seen her. Average height, pale skin, dark brown and curly hair-''
''Penny, I don't have time for jokes. Is she okay?'' he cut me off again, grabbing me by the shoulders and shaking me violently.
I stared at him in disbelief. Was he being serious right now? ''Yes, she is fine. Are you gonna let me talk or-''
''Sorry, Penny. I-I gotta go.'' he said, walking away and leaving me there without letting me finish.
"I'm doing great, as well, thanks for asking, Scott." I muttered to myself.
He didn't even say 'Hello'. It was like I was just a stranger, with whom he was only speaking to ask what time it was. It was like as if Allison had already taken over him, and he had only known her for, like, 5 minutes.
I sighed as I ran a hand through my hair. Still standing there, I witnessed Jackson arriving and I saw how his eyes widened as he just stood there, looking dumbfounded over the state of his damaged locker. He slowly looked at me, probably thinking that I was the one to do it, but I just smiled at him innocently. ''Scott did it.''
