Chapter 6

''Lydia, come on, you look great.'' I whined as she put some more blush on her cheeks, even though it wasn't necessary. She was, of course, getting ready for the lacrosse game. Whilst she was taking an hour to get ready, I was all set up in fifteen minutes. This whole day was a blur. Everything was just like always, arriving at school, taking classes, lunch, classes, and then go back to our homes. The only interesting thing that happened today was when Scott and Stiles told me that Derek got arrested. The police had found a girl's body buried in Derek's property. That creeped me out, and it definitely gave me a new image of Derek. At first, he was just this quiet, serious Derek. Now he was murderer, body-burying Derek. ''I know I look great, I always do. But today I have to look-'' she turned around, smirking. ''-Amazing.'' I rolled my eyes and chuckled. ''Whatever you say. Let's just go now. Allison just texted me and she said that she's already there'' and with that, Lydia did her finishing touches, grabbed her purse and, then we finally left her house. *** Once we reached the field, we started looking for Allison around the bleachers. We caught sight of her when we saw her hand waving in the air, motioning at us to head over to where she was sitting. And so we did. ''Hey, you saved us seats! How sweet of you!'' Lydia said. I think I was the only one to notice the sarcasm in her voice. When it came to meeting new people, Lydia was not that welcoming. And the fact that she knew that Allison had a crush on Scott was not helping the case. Earlier this day, I begged Lydia to please be nice to her, to which she crossed her arms, rolled her eyes, and finally said, "Fine. But only because I like her clothes." ''Well you guys are the only people that I know here,'' Allison said, chuckling. "It would've been weird if you guys weren't here. ''Thank God it hasn't started, yet," I sighed relief as Lydia and I sat down quickly. "I thought I would miss half of it thanks to Lydia.'' ''A girl has to be pretty for her boyfriend.'' she pointed out. ''He's not even going to notice you, foolish girl, he'll be too busy playing.'' I clarified. ''I'm something called his good luck charm.'' Once the players arrived at the field, I instantly searched for Scott and Stiles. Excusing myself with the other two, I stood up as soon as I saw them and walked down the stairs, just to wish them good luck. ''Hey Scotty. Hey Stiley. Ready for the game?'' I said cheerfully, smiling at the two of them. ''I guess.'' Scott answered, scratching the back of his neck. "Wow, now that is what I call excitement." I said sarcastically. "I don't think I'll be playing, anyways," Stiles said. "Coach says I suck. But hey, I made it to the team." "Uh... well, okay," I said, giving him a weird look. When I turned back to Scott, I noticed his nervous expression. One that he was trying to hide, but was clearly failing to do so. Placing my hand on his shoulder, I said, "Scott, you'll do great, okay? Nothing bad is gonna happen tonight." He nodded, giving me a soft smile. ''Just make sure you don't transform into a werewolf in the middle of the game and you'll be fine.'' Stiles added. ''Thank you so much, Stiles. I feel so much better now.'' Scott said sarcastically, glaring at Stiles. Stiles patted Scott's back. "Anytime, bro." *** The game started. I could hear Karen screaming 'Go Toby!' from inside the crowd, it was just too easy to recognize her voice without even looking for her. Yes, she was also here, but we arrived separately, of course. She was here with some of her friends, but only to watch Toby, her boyfriend, play. If she didn't have a boyfriend, trust me, she'd be on the couch watching romantic comedies at home. Scott was actually good at playing, but I was pretty sure that it was mostly because of his werewolf abilities. If he weren't a werewolf Coach would've kicked him out of the game already. But, really, who cared? The only thing that was more important was that he didn't transform in the middle of it all, or that he didn't attack someone. We knew he was bound to transform at some point, because he was still getting the hang of it, but if only he could stay in his human form a little bit longer... My prayers didn't seem to be heard, because soon I could see Scott's pupils turning a golden color. I stood up without even noticing. ''I'll be right back.'' I said to Lydia and Allison, who didn't seem to care because they were so into the game. When I reached Stiles' side, who was observing Scott with a worried look, I knew he already knew. ''Stiles, Scott is-'' ''I know," he cut me off. "But he's trying to conntain himself, and he's doing a good job so far. Let's just hope it stays like that..." Scott wasn't fully transformed, yet, but he was getting strong. Too strong, actually, to the point where he threw a ball and it went right through the net, breaking it. But no one seemed to notice that because the fact that our team had actually won thanks to him was covering it up. ''Yes!'' I exclaimed loudly, clapping my hands, along with Allison and Lydia who were cheering. Not only was I happy that we won, but I was also relieved that nothing bad had happened. Right when the game was done, Scott ran away. He ran towards the direction of boys' locker room, which weren't that far away. ''Scott!'' I shouted, but he didn't seem to hear me. It took me a moment to realize that Allison had ran from her seat and followed him, and I decided to do the same thing. Grabbing Stiles' arm, I said, ''Stiles, we need to go.'' ''Right.'' he said, the two of us making our way to the boys' locker room. When we reached the door to the locker room, Stiles opened it cautiously. ''Come on.'' The locker room seemed to be empty. There were only lacrosse uniforms and towels laying on the floor, and I couldn't help but to grimace at how messy these boys were. And it was sure hot in there, smelling of sweat and boiling water. ''Is he even here?'' I whispered, looking around. ''Well, where else do you think he'll be?'' Stiles whispered back. ''Why are we even whispering?'' "I don't know." I sighed. "What if he went to the woods?" "No, trust me, he's got to be here," Stiles said, and then suddenly he stopped walking. ''See? There he is... with, uh... crap.'' He moved out of the way, giving me an apologetic look, so I could see, but I wish I didn't, because when I looked at the view I realized that Scott and Allison weren't talking. Instead, they were kissing. Like, really kissing. Not like a peck or anything, it was more like those kisses you see on TV, which made my heart shatter and tears form in my eyes. ''Penny, I-I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have let you see that, I know that you-'' Stiles started, but I didn't hear any more of it. I ran out of the locker room as quickly as possible, letting the tears that were in my eyes go down my cheeks like an endless waterfall. A bunch of sobs escaped my lips and I was running as fast as I could, not having any idea where I was heading to. Not wanting to run anymore, I leaned towards the nearest tree and started to cry harder, if possible. I didn't really care if someone heard me, although, I didn't think that someone could hear me, 'cause all that surronded me was trees and bushes. Hell, I could get killed and no one would notice. But... did that really matter right now? Why did I have to fall for him, when there were plenty of other nice guys at school? There were a bunch of them who were single, and I had to fall for the guy who only sees me as a f*****g sister. This is my luck. I thought as I screamed in frustration. This is what I get for falling for Scott McCall...
