The Beginning
She was standing in a field of wildflowers. Her white sundress flowed in the gentle breeze. As she took in a deep breath, feeling the dirt beneath her toes, she inhaled a new scent. It wasn’t the flowers she knew that much. Still not wanting to open her eyes she tried to concentrate on what the scent might be. Another slow deep breath and she could tell there was a hint of earth. “Well that’s silly, I’m in a field surrounded by earth.” She thought. Still, another deep inhale and she knew that it was earth that had been worked. “Ah a farmer, probably to come laugh at the witch in the middle of his field standing barefoot!” She giggled to herself. Before she opened her eyes, she decided one more deep cleansing breath. As she inhaled nice and slow, she smelled one more thing, and wow, did he smell good. Not meaning to, she let out a bit of a moan as she exhaled. She slowly opened her eyes, his silhouette standing there against the sunset. She couldn’t tell if he was looking at her or the sunset. It didn’t take long for her to realize who it really was. He started walking towards her, as he came closer, she could make out features she never noticed before. The perfect background only illuminated Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome’s near perfect features.
The way he walked made her believe the devil himself was real. “This was no angel, that was for sure. He was sent here to tempt her.” She thought to herself. She smiled biting her bottom lip. Not realizing that her face wore her emotions as he came closer until she saw the surprised look on his face. “Oh no! I... uh... I uh didn’t realize...umm I’ll be leaving now.” She seemed to have lost her words. As she turned to walk away it seemed that her words were not the only thing she was going to lose. She knew as soon as she started to turn, she would lose her footing and that would be even more embarrassing than being caught undressing him with her eyes. In another split second, expecting to be on the ground, she felt arms around her. As he helped her to her feet, she could feel his bulging biceps under his tee shirt. She felt like she was going to faint. “No! You are not a damsel in distress! You are a strong woman! Stop this at once!” She told herself confidently. Once back on her feet she straightened out her dress. He let out a little laugh, she flashed him a quick glare. “Sorry, I'm not laughing at the fact that you fell, I'm laughing because even when you are a mess, you’re like an angel.” She could feel every inch of her body turning red. Clearing her throat, she looked up, smiled, and said “well I thought you were the devil himself.” He raised his eyebrows at the thought of being the devil. “You’ve already undressed me with your eyes,” he said, “are you sure you’re not the devil.” “I never said I was an angel you did.” She said blushing.
He took another step closer to her. “I could show you how unlike the devil and I really are.” He almost whispered. The way he said it sent shivers down her spine. “By all means, who am I to stop you?” she whispered, taking a step closer to him, wanting so desperately to close the never-ending gap between them. His scent was intoxicating, so much so that she was ready bury her face in his chest. They were caught in each other's spells. Only a few more steps and they would be touching, then what? A kiss, a hug? “Why are you analyzing?” She thought to herself. He must have had the same thought, because in a moment's notice he was another step closer. She took that as her hint to go with the flow of things. He clearly wanted this as much as she did, and with that she took her step. They were close enough to touch when he reached out and caressed her hand slowly trailing up her arm. She followed ever so obediently, running her opposite hand up his hand tracing his veins as she slowly moved her hand up towards his shoulder. When he reached her shoulder, she expected him to stop there but his hand moved up her neck slightly making contact, up to her still red cheek. Her hand stopped on his bicep, as she looked up at him, he instinctively leaned his head down to kiss her. She could feel herself start to lose control as his lips inched closer to hers. “I won’t be able to stop myself.” She whispered to him. “Who says I want you to stop?” He whispered back. As soon as the words left his mouth their lips connected.
