Cara couldn’t drive fast enough as she frantically followed the man’s directions. She skidded around corners, accelerating like a mad woman down every street and alleyway. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed him clutching the door handle for dear life, his knuckles white and shaky. But she didn’t care. Her headlights and the few functional streetlights were her only beacon through the darkness, so she leaned forward and squinted her eyes for a sign, any clue that Bradley was still alive. “Right here,” he said as they approached an intersection. She spun the steering wheel and slammed on the accelerator again. “Left here,” he squeaked in terror.
