Patrick's POV
15 minutes later and we are sitting on Jamie’s couch with chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate which is by the way the best thing ever. Jamie puts on her favorite show ‘Wipeout’ I’m not sure if I like it or not because I’m too distracted watching Jamie everytime something funny happens she bursts out laughing and her whole face lights up and she becomes so incredibly beautiful that it takes my breath away not to mention that her laughter is my favorite sound ever.
After about an hour of me watching Jamie laugh she suddenly gets up and goes to her room and before I know it my feet follow her. “Do you need something?” she asks with a bit of humour in her voice. “No I just don’t like to be away from you is all.” I don’t mean to say it, it just slips out. When she turns her back I worry that I’ve said the wrong thing but then I catch a glimpse of her cheek and more importantly the adorable blush that covers them I guess it wasn’t that wrong a thing to say after all.
“Okay, well if you’re going to stay you have to help. Here help me fold these.” She hands me a big pile of clothes and I begin folding grateful for the distraction from the fact that this room is saturated with Jamie’s perfect scent. Once I finish folding Jamie and I begin to tidy her room dusting off shelves and books and packing away the books she’s brought back from the hospital and after we’re done we move around the apartment and continue dusting and tidying the whole place.
After a couple hours of cleaning I can tell that Jamie is tired so we have a quick dinner head to bed. I had a hard time sleeping which is unusual but the only difference I can think of is that Jamie isn’t sleeping next to me. I toss and turn all night and before I realise the sun is rising I look to the clock on the wall and see it is only 4.30am deciding not to waste anymore time trying to sleep I roll out of the bed and walk into the living room and wanting to surprise Jamie I go into the kitchen to make her some coffee and only when I stand in front of the machine do I realise that I don’t know how to make coffee.
Memories of Jamie doing her research on her laptop pop into my mind thus I go in search of it hoping that it’ll be able to help me. I start copying what I’ve seen Jamie do multiple times and five minutes later I repeat what the instructions on the screen say and figure it out. Just as I am pouring the coffee into the mugs Jamie walks out of her room looking beautifully disheveled even with bed head and no makeup she still manages to take my breath away. As she sits down she asks “Where did you learn to make coffee?” Taking pleasure in the surprised tone in her voice I answer
“Turns out the internet is so helpful I just googled ‘how to make coffee’ and voila coffee.” I make a sweeping gesture towards the coffee when I say ‘voila’.
Once Jamie takes a sip and smiles I breathe a sigh of relief. As the apprehension dissipates I ask “Is it good? Two creams and three sugars right?”
“Yes but if we want to get a good amount of shopping in we should leave soon.” I nod and reply “Okay, you go take a shower and I’ll make you breakfast and when you’re done I’ll shower and get ready while you eat.”
“Sounds like a plan.” Jamie gets up and walks into her room and I begin searching for what I can make for breakfast but for my first time I decide to keep it simple and make bacon and eggs.
Jamie comes out a short while after I finish cooking. She immediately sits down and begins eating. I feast my eyes on Jamie’s cute chipmunk cheeks as she stuffs her face before I make my way through to take my shower. When I’m done I come out of the bathroom drying my hair when I look up and notice Jamie looking at me, her mouth slightly agape and her chest rising and falling quicker than usual then she abruptly shakes her head and stands up and says “Alright let’s go we’re losing daylight.”
She quickly moves to the door grabbing her phone and keys along the way. Once we arrive at the mall Jamie pulls me into the closest men’s clothing store. She then begins picking out clothes left and right. After a while she seems satisfied with the choices she has piled in her arms so she hands the mountain of clothing to me to try on. I go into the changing room and try on outfit after outfit. I have no real preference other than the fact that I want Jamie to like it so I leave the decision up to her.
Eventually Jamie elects a style that she prefers. She picks up multiples despite my protests and even picks up extra bits for me like sleepwear and winter wear. We finish shopping and packing up the bags with just enough time to drop it all off at Jamie’s apartment and get to the cafe right on time. Jamie tells me to sit at a table and wait while she works. I see her speak quickly to her manager then she begins work. All throughout the day my eyes can’t help but follow Jamie however I make sure that any time she looks at me I’m looking somewhere else so as to not creep her out.
Aside from the occasional shared glance and her checking up on me to bring me food I spent the afternoon watching Jamie work. It’s the first time since I met Jamie that it has felt just like before.
