After I started showing, I avoided seeing Kaci whenever she came to the house. We didn’t want her to know we were having a baby because we didn’t want her to make a fuss over it or cause more problems.
By the time Jonah’s court review came up in mid-June, we had the whole house set up and decorated. Only half of the basement was being used for storage. The other half we set up for entertaining. I didn’t go with Jonah this time. I was less than a month from my due date and had been trying to rest when I wasn’t working around the house. I still had a nursery to set up, but we hadn’t had a chance to start shopping for baby furniture, or anything else for the baby.
Jonah didn’t get home from court until almost noon. When he got home, I was in the kitchen making something for lunch. I greete
