We didn’t hear from the police until Monday, late in the morning. They came by the house after I put Ari down for her nap. Jonah was home as well, since he wasn’t in a good frame of mind to work. We’d spent the weekend pacing and worrying, just hoping our kids were alright.
Jonah answered the door when the police detectives arrived. He had them follow him into the kitchen, where I was sitting and waiting. The two detectives introduced themselves as Aimes and Holland. Aimes was a young woman, in her late-20s, with dark brown hair. She had a kind face and a friendly smile. Holland looked like a former body builder, but when he started talking, his voice was soothing.
