Chapter 2

CHAPTER 2

*DEVON MCKNIGHT*

I'm already twenty three years old and I'm still here at the Rive Valley, not that I don't like it. I love it here, it's just that I want to explore the world, I really need to get a job outside this town.

I went to the city, I also love it there. I love the busy things that's going on, it gives me the thrill. I chose to apply in one of the richest company in the country. It's the Zorbe company, I really don't know why they named is Zorbe.

I was waiting in my turn to get interviewed. I was applying for a secretary. I saw someone walked in the office of the HR department, He was...gorgeously handsome I gaze to where he is, I heard that his name is William Fox. I think he is one of the bosses here. He looks...expensive.

My name was called. I sit in front of the panel of interviewers. William is one of them. They were asking me the same old interview questions, I think I just gave them a good impression.

"So we will just call you for the results." They said. Oh I think I'm not gonna get hired, that's what they say to people who don't pass. Crap.

As I was making my way out in the office, I bumped into someone, He's strong because he made me fall on the floor. I looked up, he looked familiar… but the thing is, he didn't help me up! What a jerk!

"What is wrong with you?" The man named William said to the 'Jerk man'.

"Nothing, I just got pissed with that Mr. Chen." the 'jerk'said.

"Oh are you okay?" William said. Finally someone noticed me, But the 'jerk man' didn't even turn his head to apologize. I got pissed.

"Excuse me?" I ignored William's hand when he tried to help me up. The 'jerk man' turned his head. Woah, he is something, I mean he is ....handsome. More handsome than William, He's nose, He's eyes, the hair. I snap myself to reality.

"Yeah?" He said, his voice is like annoyed.

"Aren't you going to say something to me?" I can feel some pairs of eyes were on me, including William.

"Why would I do that?" He smirked. "Oh I see, so you like me too, let me guess you fell in love with me in the first sight?" He was like mimicking a cartoon.

I raised my eyebrow "What? Are you crazy? You just hit me, when you walked in, not even saying anything. Don't you have manners? Or is it because your friends with someone big in this company, that your being so arrogant and a JERK!" I made a clear tone on 'jerk'. I can see William holding his laugh.

"Is this girl new here?" He asked William, and he nodded. "Well for your information, I am not just a friend with someone here...I am the CEO of this company, aren't you reading magazines or watching TV."

I paused. I internally dropped my jaw, did I just picked a fight with this man? Crap! I tried to redeem myself from this humiliation.

"So? Does that mean you can just bumped into others and not even say an apology?" I am so pissed now.

He rolled his eyes. "I'm sorry but I don't have time to talk to someone like you right now. If you really like me that much, you can leave your number to my secretary." He is starting to walk away. "By the way, I like your hair, you remind of someone I knew before." Then he winked at me and made his way out.

"But I'm not done yet." I looked at him leaned closer to his face, he seemed to like it, duh? boys. Then I made my death blow. I punched him in his stomach that made him groan. "That's for what you just did to me. JERK! " I stuck my tongue out.

I ran out of the building as fast as I can. I felt safe when I got to a mall, where I can't see the building anymore. The serves him right.

*BRANDON WALTER*

"Ow that hurts." I can feel that monkey girl's punch. She's strong.

"That serves you right." William is laughing in my pain. "You really didn't notice her?"

"No, I was pre-occupied by something else." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Man, you must see your face when she did her super punch...it's priceless." He keeps on laughing.

"So whose side are you on?"

"Definitely with her, she's cute." He said.

"Really? You like her kind? You’re weird, you should go to a doctor and get your eyes check or something."

William kept laughing; I just waited there in his office until he stopped.

"Finally" I said.

"Sorry about that, I am definitely going to hire her."

"Don't you dare." I tried to threaten him.

"Nope, I like her. She is one in a million." He smirked.

"Yeah right , by the way, I have to do a community service for a month, so you have to cover for me when I'm not around."

"What? What did you do this time?"

"I didn't start it, he did. Let's not go into details, cause I might change my mind and just kill that man."

"Fine, where is that community then?"

"In my old place, River Valley, It's a two hour drive from here."

"What, I thought you came from the other state?"

"Yeah, but before that, I came from there, We used to live in that small town."

My conversation with William took a while, I was instructing him of what to do with the other clients that I'm handling.

I went home tired, and a pain from my tummy. I took a shower and went to bed. 'I'm going back there after...like ten years..' then an image of a girl appeared in my mind, my neighbour, or enemy. 'Will I get to see her again?" I wonder, and fell asleep.

*DEVON MCKNIGHT*

I went home to my apartment, I am not living with my folks anymore, actually they left me here alone and went to the other state with my brother and sister who is still teens now, for work. They want me to come with them, but I love it in here, and besides I can live on my own now.

I live with my childhood friends, Mizzy, Edhen and Patricia. We all chose to live together, aside from being kicked out of their own houses, we have to rent an apartment together so that we can share our expenses.

"I'm home" I shouted.

"OMG, What happen to you?" Edhen said.

"Well i bump into a jerk on the company that I applied in." I took my shoes off and drop myself in the couch, I'm tired.

"You want to eat?" she asked.

"Nope. By the way where's the other two?"

"Mizzy is on a date with Aron, and Pat is on a mission hitting on Arthur, you know what I mean right?" she smirked.

"Well they all have their own love lives, that leaves the two of us then."

"Well..aammmm"

"No way...Don't tell me you have a boyfriend, please noo." I begged her, cause if she does, it will mean that I will be the only one haven't had a boyfriend in a year.

"Kind of..?

"What kind of answer is that? Who is the victim now?"

"Well, his name is Micheal, he’s really nice and I will let you meet him one of these days." She said happily.

"Ok fine, as long as you’re happy, I'm happy for you too." She hugged me.

I went to my room and took a bath. I was preparing myself to sleep when my phone rang. It was an unknown number.

"Hello?"

"Hi, May I please speak to Devon Mcknight?" the voice on the other line said.

"Yes, speaking?"

"I'm William Fox and I'm calling from Zorbe." He said, Oh this was the man a while ago. Crap, I think they are going to sue me for punching the CEO. I'm so dead.

"Ah are you going to sue me?" I hesitantly asked.

"What? hahahaha no I'm not…actually I called because I wanted to say to you personally, that you’re hired." Did he just say something like there's a miracle that happened and that I'm hired? "Hello is anyone there?"

"oh I'm sorry I'm still comprehending the thing that you said, just to make sure I heard it correctly right? You just said that I'm hired?" I asked.

I heard William chuckled "I know your something.." I heard him murmured on the other line."…Yes you heard it right, You are hired, so I want you to report here in the office on Monday, is that alright?"

"Yes sir. Absolutely sir."

"Ok so that would be all. Bye."

"Bye, oh, Thank you so much for hiring me."

"Hahaha no problem..." Then he hang up.

Oh my gosh. I have a job!

"Ahhhhhh" I can't help but scream

"What happen?" The girls went in to my room with a worried faces.

I laughed and they got confused. "What is it?" Pat said.

"I'm sorry about that, it's just that I got hired!" We all screamed.
