Chapter2: In Kolkata Surbhi did the biggest mistake of her life she shifted out of her rented apartment into her parent’s house in Kolkata. She gave up her independence and later on paid a big price for it. Surbhi always had this belief that her brothers will ill treat her parents and for this she never went abroad to work and also wanted to stay with her parents. Surbhi never realised this that parents do not want to stay with a unsuccessful child. She realised the hard way that her parents never wanted her instead always craved for their son’s attention. By the time she realised it, it was too late for her. Life had been totally messed up for her. She did not even realise by her parent’s attitude towards her especially her mother. Her mother always had a treatment of alienation towards her. She never realised that her parents were not happy with her staying there. Whenever her very close friend came to meet her then her mother used to behave badly with her. Her mother gave her no independence to decide on the decor of her room. If she wanted to eat something then that was definitely not cooked that day. One day she complained about the menu and her father very rudely told her that she was free to leave. She still did not understand it was time to go. Surbhi of course had a different logic. She believed that if she had left her parents would have been ill treated by her brothers. What Surbhi did not understand was that “Didn’t they deserve it”? At least you may have never seen a person destroying her life for her parent’s happiness. Such people are called fools in today’s world. Nobody appreciates them not even the parents concerned. Surbhi as all failures or successful people in Surbhi’s case the former believes in astrologers a lot. One such astrologer and have to be admitted a good one told her “ Surbhi don’t stay with your parents , it’s bad for you”, still it didn’t ring a bell. She lost a very good job because all her friends in office made her life miserable and compelled her to leave. They all ganged up against her. The reason was that she had hurt one of her friends. All the fire was ignited by a person she had given job in the organisation. Today that person and her husband are well settled and doing good and Surbhi is fighting for existence. Again it’s her inability to judge good from bad .All the people she had got jobs for are all doing great in life with no recognisition of her efforts and she had to do tuitions as there was no job for her .Forget about recognisition nobody even keeps contact in face book. Surbhi was luckless even in love. She fell in love number of times. All with people who have all used her and left her to fend for herself in life. Today they don’t even accept her existence ever in life. When she looks for them in f*******: she finds them well settled and happy in life. She feels lost and sad. Life goes on for everybody so for Surbhi also life dragged on. She got busy with her tuitions and earned enough but could never save any money. Even here she did well for others but again paid for it. She helped one of the boys she had met in her work to start on tuitions as he did not want to work. She helped him set up lots of tuitions and set him up in life. It was 2015 when her mother passed away. Her father handed over his stocks to her and she sold them to pay for her mother’s last ceremony also known as shradh. Her father as usual misquoted the amount of stocke he possessed and it was worth only Rs.80,000 and the ceremony was for Rs.70,000 and the rest she kept with the broker. Life took a turn for worse and expenses mounted and pension was never enough and she had to take out money randomly from the bank. She had money from the sale of her house which got over in a jiffy. She also wasted money by hiring car for her tuitions and paying the drivers handsomely for tips. She spent money in buying mobile and tabs and spent more than she earned. In no hurry she once again became pauper. She never thought about her future.
