EPILOGUE
Once the snow began on Christmas Eve, it continued for the next seven days. The sun finally made an appearance on New Year’s Day. Cari peeked out of the windows. Light bounced off the snow in the backyard like jewels peeking out from under a white blanket. The boys shoveled a path from the back deck to the garden, ending at the newly planted tree. Baskets of pine boughs tied with dark purple ribbons stood next to empty plant stands waiting for the white poinsettias that would adorn them.
