Assa considered the option. It didn’t appeal to her. The mud felt much more inviting. Swimming is for fish, said Assa. But that’s what you are! said Dawn. Assa didn’t agree with that statement. Certainly she had the form of a fish, but she wasn’t a fish, not in any real sense. She possessed a fish brain, it was right up there, lodged in her fish skull, but that wasn’t her identity. She yearned to have arms and legs. In fact, she still thought she had arms and legs. Her human brain tried to move them all the time. It was an involuntary action, stymied only by her current form.
