CHAPTER 2

1036 Words
Michelle's POV I walked out of the cell angrily and straight to the control unit but before I could even get close, Mr William met me on the way. “Calm down!” He said, “he is trying to get to you and avert the point of discussion. He is not like others who you can easily get into their head. He is the king of manipulation, I know you can do this! Today's session won't be recorded; take it as getting to know how you are dealing with it. You can start fully tomorrow!” He said and patted my shoulder and I sighed. “Okay, see you tomorrow!” I said and walked out of the organization and straight to my car. I wanted to drop off the case, but after Mr Williams’ words, I wanted to see the end of this arrogant asshole. Who does he even think he is? Bruce Lashley!! I picked up my phone and searched for him, but there was no information on the Internet. It was like he was not existing at all. There is certainly more to him than meets the eye. I drove straight to the supermarket and picked a few things. I wasn't planning on restocking the house since I was traveling before, but now, I have another case at hand: I have to restock my house. I was in the fruit section when I suddenly noticed a figure in the mirror. Blue shirt, black jeans with a face cap. It seems I have seen him in two sections that I have visited. Is it just a coincidence, or … I looked back at the figure but this time, he just walked away with a basket of fruits and straight to the counter and went out. The moment he left, I sighed. At least that was just a mere coincidence. I don't know why I feel so unsafe all of a sudden. I was done with groceries and went to pay before dragging the cart to my car to unload them into my car. The best thing about my drive back home is the nice breeze accompanied by music. I felt peaceful, humming to the beat of the song playing till I got to my house. Strangely, a black car was parked by the left side of my house. None of my neighbors drive a black Lexus car, do they have a visitor? Even so, they would have parked in front of their house. I didn't want to think much about the situation as I drove into my garage and went in through the back door. It took three to and fro from the car to bring all the groceries inside and finally my bag and the file case. I walked straight to my room to freshen up and change into a free jogger and a tee shirt. I picked up my gadget and the file to fix something for myself in the kitchen. “Hello, Miss Michelle!” A voice said startling me and causing the file to fall on the floor. I turned in the direction of the voice, and I was faced with a man in a three-pair suit. “Who are you? What are you doing here? How did you get in?” I yelled but he calmly walked to the front door and turned the knob. “Well, I must say, your security level is so low considering the type of job you do, your door was opened. I walked right in after several knocks to wait for you!” He said. My body was still frozen and my brain was taking a longer time to process. “Who are you? What are you doing in my house?” I asked and he walked back to his former position. “My name is Maximus! I am Mr Bruce Lashley's subordinate,” he said, and the name rang in my head for a long while. “Bruce Lashley!” I exclaimed and he nodded. “Yes, the man you were assigned to as a therapist. Well, I was sent by him to ensure your safety considering you are his therapist. He believes you don't know what on earth you have gotten yourself into the moment you collect his case file and enter his cell. And considering your security level, I second his thoughts, and I will do my best to protect you!” he said, and I was shocked. How?? Just how did the man in a cell send this man before me a message? What is this?? What have I really gotten myself into? I looked at the man before me, who looked like a layer of mystery due to his clear, straight face, and I mustered up the courage to face him. “I don't know what this is or what you guys are planning but if you think you can threaten me away from this case like this. I am afraid that is a joke. So go back and tell whoever sent you, Bruce or whatever his name is, that he should dream on and also keep the protection or whatever he calls this, and the next time I see you here, consider yourself jailed or shot in the head!” I yelled and he smiled politely. “Okay, Miss Michelle!” He said and walked out just like that. The fear lurking around me finally slipped out and I rushed to lock my door and check on the second door as well. How did I forget to lock my door? I knew something was wrong due to my guy but I just didn't think it was going to be this bad! How did this get to this? I just got the case file and I have been threatening like this. What have I gotten myself into? How can Bruce contact someone from the cell? Is he so intimidated by my aura that he has to threaten me? No one can give me answers better than Bruce or Mr Williams about who the hell is this lunatic, and if he thinks I will be scared and I will quit! That is a joke! Game on, Bruce Lashley!
