CHAPTER 3

Michelle's POV “Good morning!” I said with a bright smile across my face as I faced the guards in front of Bruce's cell. I could read the shock in their eyes but I didn't take it seriously as they opened the door for me politely despite not responding to my greeting. I was holding two cups of coffee in my hand as I walked into the cell. Just like yesterday, he was calmly lying on his bed. I looked at him, and the memories of yesterday's events flashed in my head, but I was quick to throw them out and focus on today's session. “Mr Bruce, it's so lovely to see you today considering how well we got along. Today's session will be an hour, not less than an hour. The earlier you cooperate with me, the better!” I said as soon as I placed the coffee in my hands down and also the file and the recorder I had with me. “And guess what I brought with me, black coffee, no sugar, no milk, just like you love it, 75 degrees!” I said and he sat up immediately and looked into my eyes. “Little birdie, you are back!” He said nonchalantly and walked to his seat and picked up the coffee. “I guess now, you are working on your professionalism!” He said and sipped the coffee. “So, speaking of professionalism. What is your profession, Mr Bruce?” I asked and he chuckled lightly. “You are still reading the script! How bad will it be if you go along with your own thoughts?” He said and I looked up at him. “Those files are lies; you can't work on my psychology following those lies! Little birdie!” He added as he rested his back. “Well, I have a lot to say but...” he said and slowly lifted his face toward the hidden camera. I wondered how he knew there was a camera right there. “Tell Williams to tell his men to switch that off; I want to speak to you!” he said and closed his eyes, and I was taken back. He speaks with so much authority like he was in his house or office. “I am sorry, Mr Bruce! The camera won't go off! I am all ears!” I said and he chuckled. “You still don't understand, do you? You can't call the shot, I do! So, Williams shut the camera; I want to speak to the one you sent to me alone!” He said without even looking at me or the camera, but his voice filled the room, and I believe Mr Williams heard him too. “Convince him!” I heard Mr Williams' order and I looked at the arrogant son of a Man who was sitting before me. “Mr Bruce, I understand if you want your therapy session to be confidential. It is already but the camera can't be off due to security purposes!” I said as I opened the file to continue with the session as I had proposed. “Do you want to do this or not?” If yes, put off the camera now!” He insisted and the moment I tried to convince him, he stood up to leave for his bed. “Okay, okay, sit down!” I said but he didn't answer me as he kept walking to his bed. “Mr Williams, I assure you that all will be fine, put off the camera!” I said but Mr Williams was unwilling. “No! We can't. What if he escapes? We can't take the camera off!” He said angrily, and I was taken aback. “You are concerned about him escaping from this highly secured facility but you don't care if he hurts me..As a matter of fact, you have guards at the door, he can't get away. I am risking my life here as well, so for the success of this session, kindly switch off the camera! It's not that hard!” I yelled in the direction of the camera. After a few seconds, I heard him sigh, “This is on you, Michelle!” He said, and they switched off the camera, and I looked at Bruce, who was back in his bed. “Mr Bruce, as you requested, the camera is down!” I said, and he smiled and walked back towards me. My heart skipped a bit with every step he took closer. Why did I risk my life for this job again? Why did I instruct them to switch off the camera? He came close and stretched his hand toward my ear and removed the air pod and crushed them within seconds. My heart lost its rhyme as I tried to recall what just happened! “Now, it's better!” He said and returned to his seat like nothing had happened. “I don't do this on a normal day, but seeing your fearless attitude despite your ignorance makes me want to do this!” he said. I wanted to speak but was cut short instantly. “You don't know what you are into. I am here to uncover the truth about some issue, and those embryos thought they caught me; you just entered a death trap. The moment you entered this cell yesterday, you have secured a death wish as more than three organizations have placed a bounty on your head. You were about to interact with me, their worst enemy, so definitely, you are an enemy! You don't understand how this works or how my world works yet and I really don't want anyone to kill you because if you must die, I have to be your death! That is why I sent Maximus to protect you and that file you are holding is nothing but lies. If this organization really wants to probe me into an investigation, they won't contact you. As I said, they will get better and well-secured men, but they just want to use and dump you; that is why you are here! They are all in on it, Williams is not who you think he is! This place is not what you think it is! I don't know what you did wrong but you should be questioned why they sent you and not me!” He said and stood up and leaned over the table. “I know deep in your heart, you know this is real but you are too scared to question the system. Watch your back, they are coming for you!” he said.
