A couple of weeks passed fast and it was another wonderful morning, Lian was still fast asleep when Nick walked into his room he sitting beside him and staring for a while before pouring on him a glass of water right in the face
" Nickolas!!!" he shouted
" Happy birthday sleeping Beauty!!!" He yelled back in excitement
" What the hell!! it's not my birthday!" He said as he sat on the bed
" Of course it is, you are always so forgetful. today is the 6th of September" Nick point out, Lian was shocked on how the time flew by fast he pulled out his phone checking the date on it.
" What I had no idea" he said looking back at Nick
" That because you are more concerned about someone else's birthday than yours"
" Would you stop it" Lian spoke in a small voice that still shows he had some sleep left in his eyes
" I know but sometimes I feel like slapping you, you would never forget the 18th of November but you always forget your birthday" he said rolling his eyes " Anyways I got you something, your favourite cake and I already prepared breakfast your royal majesty but noted it's just For Today, 'only for today' understand" he emphasized more importantly
" Yes I do, thank you so much, your gesture is appreciated" he said
" Whatever, now blow out your candles and make a wish" Nick said as he brought the cake closer to Lian
" I'm not a child anymore, must I make a wish?" He asked looking at his boss
" Yes, as long as I'm the one that got you the cake you must make a wish" he replied.
Lian also knew closed his eyes and made the same wish he did everytime Nick asked for him to make one then he blow out the candles
" Happy now?"
" Yes very satisfied, now go get ready you're going to be late" Nick added.
After taken his bath he had a call from his mum, she used to compete with Nick on who will be the first to wish him a Happy birthday.
" Happy birthday my baby!!" she said on the phone
" He beat you to it mum" he informed not wanting to waste time
" Really?"
" Yes, he also got me a cake in addition" he said as he got dressed
" Anyways, I'm not going to be mad at Nicholas, he's my second son and if he wishes you a happy birthday is also means I wished you first" she spoke
" Yes ma'am you and your son are really something else" he said with a laugh
" Are you alright?" his mum suddenly asked in a More serious tune. The line died silence for a little while, Lian really wanted to answer the question honestly but he didn't want his mum to worry with such things.
" I'm fine, I just need to get out because I feel like I'm going to be late for work" he said changing the topic
" Lian who do you think I am, I know you are trying to run away from the question" she pointed out
" I don't know what to say to you Mum, I can't say I'm alright or I'm not. I'm just in a mood I don't understand"
" Listen to me Lian, it's not your fault you know that right?"
" yes ma'am, I know for the 189 million times, I know. I'm just trying hard not to think, it's not really anything but I'm trying my best to be fine" he voiced out
" If that's the case then I feel I should leave you to celebrate your birthday" she said loving the fact he wanted to live past it.
" Mum you know I don't care about celebrating this kind of things" he pointed out
" I know you don't but I know Nick celebrate your birthday for you every year and I'm sure he has planned something special this year as well" his mum reminded, which was absolutely true. If it was up to Lian, he would never celebrate his birthday but Nick on the other hand would never let that happen.
He could remember the first time because Nick celebrated his birthday they were just 12 and ever since then it has become a tradition, he quickly got dressed before getting into the car with Nick.
Nicholas dropped him off at the cafe before leaving " Don't forget about the party" he reminded before he drove off knowing his best friend he could easily forget about the party.
