Chapter 2

DOMINIC Just as I was about to come clean about everything with Aroura when the front door got kicked open, putting everyone in defense mood. I instinctively jumped front of Aroura shielding her from whatever was coming, I looked at the door and saw Alpha Micheal walk in with Ash and Roman. I tensed and couldn’t control the anger filling me, trying not to shift. “Who is that?” Aroura’s sweet voice soothed me enough to not shift, of course she wouldn’t remember she was just a few days old when it happened. And my father told the entire pack to never mention that night or that we have a fox in our community, he made it a law and when an Alpha made a law no one can break it, or it’s death. That’s why he made one rule for Aroura that her parents and I had to enforce, she can not shift. “Alpha Micheal” I managed to growl though my teeth. I remember that night, when I saw Aroura’s brother fall over the falls and landed on the rocks below. I thought he died on impact, he was just a little thing and that fall would have killed a full grown wolf instantly. But the Goddess kept him alive long enough to tell me he had a baby sister. When I found her and our noses touched I got a feeling I never felt before. Tingles though my whole body, it made me giggle, I remembered thinking she was the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen. I remember my dad sending Chris to check on the village near by to see why the baby was alone in the woods, he came back and told my father all the foxes were slaughtered. That’s when my father decided to take in the fox until we figured out what to do with her. We brought her to our home, we shift back to our human form. The baby stayed in its fox form for a little while before shifting, again she was beautiful. She looked like one of those glass dolls, I ask my dad if we could keep her. He looked at me with seriousness “No son, she has to be with her own kind. Their are other fox communities that will be more then happy to take her, she wouldn’t fit in here.” He sent 3 guards to the other 3 fox communities, within an hour they came back with grave news. They all told him they were slaughtered as well, there were no survivors. The little white fox was the last of her kind. I remember my father staying up that night to find out who and why exterminated the foxes, until then that’s went he placed the law to never speak of that night and of the white fox. To protect her he gave her to his Gamma, Ted and his wife Mary, they just suffered a miscarriage that resulted in his wife getting a hysterectomy. Ted was a very strong and trustworthy member of the pack, he was offered the rank of Beta but turned it down. Few days later my father found out who killed the foxes, Alpha Micheal of the Blood Moon Pack but still didn’t know why. “Micheal, what a wonderful surprise. What brings you to our neck of the woods.” My father said trying to be friendly, they never saw eye to eye on things and the peace between the two pack was wearing thin. Micheal just stood with a no emotion “I heard your retiring and your son will be taking over. I come with a proposal..” Thomas stood tall and gave Micheal his attention “I’m listening.” Micheal half smiled “I heard your son still hasn’t found his mate and we all know it’s tradition that he’s mates when he becomes Alpha.” Thomas looked at him “Where you going with this?” Micheal walked over to a table and grabbed a glass of champagne “My daughters mate passed away, suddenly.” There was something about the way he said ‘suddenly’ that made me feel uneasy, I felt Aroura try to look around me to see better. I gently pushed her behind me, keeping her hidden. “So I was thinking we do.. An arranged mating.” Whispers filled the room, my heart sank. *Oh Goddess no.* An arranged mating was only called on when either an Alpha hasn’t found his mate before his 21st birthday or to unite two packs. Wolves normally found their mate right when they turn 18, but no one knew I already found my mate. I looked at Aroura out of the corner of my eye, I saw the sadness and shock on her face. I was unheard of that a wolf found a mate outside of their own kind, wolves and foxes were similar but also very different. I father just looked at Micheal calmly “Well Dominic still has a week before his birthday, that still gives him some time to find his mate. But if he doesn’t, I will consider your proposal.” Micheal didn’t look to please with my father’s response but nodded in agreement. I looked at my father, we locked eyes *Get Aroura out of here before he smells her, take her far from here till they leave.* I nodded and turned to Aroura with a forced smile. “Hey let’s get out of here.” Before she could respond I grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the house and into my car. I knew the exact spot to go where no one would find us. I drove us down a dirt road deep in the forest, I parked the car in front of a called down tree. “You remember this place?” I asked her with a smile She laughed “Of course I still come here when I have to get away from things, it’s the only place I can shift.” I knew it was hard for her, shifting it the best thing. Shifting left us feel free and one with the Goddess, there were time I wish I could just stay a wolf forever. I turned around to give Aroura some privacy, I undid my tie and buttons on my shirts I glanced over my shoulder to see Aroura slid off her silk dress exposing her flawless tan skin. She was beautiful, she had a perfect body that I just wanted to touch. She gently folded her dress and placed it on the car, then shifted in an elegant white fox. I folded my clothes and placed them next to her dress and shifted, I saw my reflection in the side of the car. My wolf was a dark brownish black like my hair with light blue eyes, I had my mother’s eyes. I walked up to Aroura, she was tiny compared to me of course I was bigger then the average wolf since I am a future Alpha. She looked at me with a little smile and darted into the woods, I chuckled and took off after her. I have to admit she was fast, faster and more agile then a wolf. She was strong to for a fox my father said, foxes were normally weak in fights. Their bones were so little they broke easily but they made up for it in the stealth and quickness, making them the perfect spies and assassins. I finally caught up to her we stopped at a small pond, wild roses grew around it. She sat by the pond under the moon light, her white fur was glowing from the reflection. I just stood there looking at her beauty, wishing I could tell her how much I loved her. She looked at me tilting her little head *You just going to stand there like an i***t or you going to come sit.* I snapped back and sat next to her, she was smaller then a normal fox was supposed to be. I read every book there was about foxes, the average foxes about the size of a beagle but Aroura was about the size of a chihuahua. I searched every book there was to try and find anything about a white fox but nothing. Even though she was so small she was very strong, foxes have very small bones making them very fragile. But Aroura has taken down full grown men in both human and wolf form, she’s knocked me on my a*s a few times. Foxes are quick and light on their feet making them impossible to hear when they sneak up on you, she always won at hide n seek as a kid. *What are you going to do?” A hint of sadness in her voice pulled me out of my thoughts I huffed *Id rather die then be mated with Shia.” Shia was just as ruthless and heartless as her father, Blood Moon Pack truly lived up to their name. They were feared by all the hybrids, no one dared to cross them, they were more of a g**g then a pack. “That’s a bit extreme, can’t you just decline his offer instead of offing yourself?” I shook my head *You know we can’t tell him no.” She looked down into the water *The Unstoppable Strength.” Some hybrids possessed a gift, it was rare and can happen at any time in a hybrids life. Unfortunately Micheal got the gift of unstoppable strength, no one can defeat him. He got his powers at the age of 7, it was said he was the chosen one to unite all the hybrids in peace but instead used is gift for power. *Well you have one week till your birthday, I can help you find your mate.” Her voice was almost a whisper I took my giant paw and pulled her into my side, the tingle from her body touching mine vibrates though me and I felt so good. *Dont worry Foxy, it’s not your problem the deal with.* We laid there reminiscing about our trouble making behaviors as kids and how things haven’t changed, she was telling me how she was doing the Pack Fight and she was going to win. *There gone come home immediately.* My father’s voice was filled with anger and seriousness *Well it’s getting late better get you home before your parents kick my ass.* We got up and raced to the car, we shifted back and put our clothes back on. We headed back into town, I pulled up to her house where all the lights were still on. “If you need help finding your mate or just need some to talk to about anything, I’m here for you. Always have and always will, no matter what.” She said looking right at me with her crystal eyes, I wish I could tell her everything. “I know you are.” I whispered She gave me a hug and walked into her house, I sat there for a minute smelling her scent. Frost and sweet berries, it was nothing like I’ve ever smelt before, they say your mate will have a one of a kind scent that’s how you know they are your mate. I drove up to my house, I walked though the door to see all the Omegas packing and cleaning the hall. Carly walked up to me “Is she ok?” “Yea she didn’t suspect anything, where’s my father?” She pointed down the hallway “He’s in his office, be careful he’s furious.” I nodded and headed down the hall. My father never laid a hand on me or anyone in our pack, “Violence is never the answer.” He always said, he always told me to be an Alpha I have to treat people the way I would want to be treated. Of course defending oneself is different but if someone doesn’t agree with us or makes us mad we shouldn’t attack them. That’s why our pack and the Michaels pack don’t get along, Micheal says fear is how you get respect. I stood outside my fathers office, before I could knock “Come in Dominic.” I opened the door and closed it. My father was standing with his back to me looking out his huge bay window that over looked the forest. “We have a problem son,” He started, he turned to look at me “From what I see is you have two choices and your not going to like either one.” I just stood there waiting for him to finish telling what he thinks I should do instead of asking what I think we should do. “1. You pick a fake mate and hopefully Micheal believes it and goes back to leaving us alone or 2. You can marry Shia and unite the pack and try to change their savage way.” Anger filled my chest, I couldn’t stop the low growl that rumbled out of me “I’m not doing either of those things!” Before I knew it my father was right in my face, I can feel the anger rolling off him “ If you did what you were supposed to at your uncles we wouldn’t be in this mess, you were supposed to pick a mate from the high ranks he had. I told you this would happen if you didn’t come back with a fake mate, now you have no choice.” I shook my head “I can’t dad, I love her and I want to be with her.” I felt his body shake with anger, his eyes were bright yellow “You know that’s not possible, why the Goddess mated you up a fox beats the hell out of me. It’s unnatural, you can’t claim her, you will put the whole pack in danger.” “I don’t care, I’ll just take Aroura and run away if it means I can be with her. She’s going to find out we’re mates when she turns 18, how are you going to hid that one.” I can tell he didn’t think about at one, check mate. “Son, we can not fight Micheal and his pack.” He said calmly, he let out a deep sigh “Let me talk with the elders and see what they say, maybe they can give a suggestion or something.” That better then having to choose a fake mate or Shia “Thank you dad.” “You have to think of the pack son, an Alpha is nothing without his pack.” “An Alpha is nothing with out his Luna as well.” Pain filled his face, he knew at was true. He hasn’t been the same since mom died, I felt a little bad for saying to but it was the truth and dad always said truth hurts but it’s better then a lie. He just nodded and walked back to the window, that was my cue to leave. I walked out the room and closed the door behind me, I heard him crying softly. I headed up the stairs to my room, I closed my door didn’t even bother turning on the light. I fell face first on my pillow, I took a deep breath and yelled into my pillow. It always made me feel better, I turned my head and just laid there in silence. I had to tell Aroura but I don’t know how, should I tell her before her birthday? Or should I wait for her birthday and have her find out, but then she’ll know I knew for a long time and be pissed I never told her. I tried to clear my mind and just thought of Aroura, dancing with her. I slowly fell asleep, dreaming of what life would be like with my for bidden mate.
