“There they are! Took you long enough.” Talon gave him a curt nod but didn’t move from my side. “You want a drink?” he asked, leaning down so I could hear him over the noise. I nodded as Trina pulled out the chair beside her, gesturing for me to sit. Once he saw I was safely situated next to Jake and Trina, Talon disappeared into the crowd. He reappeared a few minutes later with drinks in hand. He handed me a glass of something amber and smoky, his fingers brushing mine as I took it. His touch lingered for a moment, a silent reassurance in the chaos. I sipped cautiously, the warmth of the whiskey spreading through me like a slow burn. Talon leaned against the wall behind me, his presence solid and grounding. I could feel the weight of his gaze on me, even as he watched everyone else.
