Selene's POV
Selene knew something had changed before anyone said it, and this time it wasn't a feeling she had to question or second-guess. It showed itself in small, controlled ways that didn't exist before, in how movement around her adjusted without explanation.
The guard outside her door didn't move when she stepped out. He didn't fall in behind her either. He stayed positioned at a distance that was too precise to be casual.
Before, she had been observed.
Now, she was being handled.
Selene didn't comment on it. There was no point asking questions that wouldn't be answered, and no advantage in reacting to something that had already been decided. Instead, she adjusted to it the same way she had started adjusting to everything else—quietly, without drawing attention.
