I dressed in a pair of light wash skinny jeans paired with a white tank top and some red heels. I left my hair down as I stalked my way down the hall and to the Alpha’s office, Silas trailing behind me and begging me to reconsider my choice. Alec remained silent until we reached the double doors where two guards held them open for us. My father was sat behind his desk, working on some paperwork while Graham sat in one of the arm chairs, swirling a glass of fine whiskey as he gazed out into space “You wanted to see me, father?” Alec questioned as both Silas and I stepped back, allowing him to handle it himself. I wasn’t there to fight his battles, I was merely there to back him up on whatever decision he’d make. Graham took a swing of his whiskey and leaned forward, setting the glass down on the coffee table with a thud of glass against wood “I wanted to personally congratulate you on finding your mate” as soon as the words had left his lips, I knew they were a lie. Silas tensed from beside me, his muscles flexing as he crossed his arms over his chest and balled his fists. Alec wasn’t buying it either, but he stayed silent, watching as his father stood and straightened out the material of his jacket “However I take it you understand why the two of you could never be together?” my father looked up from his paperwork, his eyes meeting mine as if to imply that I was the reason why. Alec straightened out his shoulders and decided to face his father head on, but Graham wasn’t affected by his son’s domineering tone “Because you believe that she’s a monster?” Graham sighed heavily, reaching to pick his glass back up as he made his way over to the office windows. He looked out onto the backyard, his eyes taking in the sight of the trees and pack members as the sun began to cast an orange hue over the entire room, slowly setting over the horizon “She’s a disgrace to this pack and not worthy of being mated to someone of your status” my father explained, leaning back in his desk chair and crossing his legs as his elbows leaned on the armrests. I lowered my head, hiding my face from their view while Silas let out a low growl from beside me. Graham shot his youngest son a glance from out of the corner of his eye “She is not a disgrace!” Alec snarled, his eyes flickering black as he glared down at my father. Although my father was his Alpha, a mated wolf would not stand down when it comes to someone standing in the way of him and his mate not even to an Alpha “It’s my choice whether I choose to mate her or not” it wasn’t the moment I had been waiting for, so I stayed quiet. Graham turned throwing his empty whiskey glass at his son, who dodged. The glass hit the wall, right beside my head and shattered into a million-tiny piece. My head shot up, eyes glaring daggers into Graham’s skull as my wolf began to tug on her shackles “Watch your tone, boy” Graham warned, moving towards his son and grabbing him by the collar of his shirt, lifting him up slightly so that they were face to face. Every molecule in my body begged me to do something, to interfere but I fought the urge “I. Choose. Her” Alec spat in his father’s face and it was the last straw. I took a firm step forward, a growl rumbling up from my chest as my eyes began to glow a bright gold. My canines extended to their full length and my nails began to take on the form of claws. Graham looked at me and slowly lowered Alec back onto his feet, letting go of the collar of his shirt and stepping back “So the b***h is protecting you now?” Graham asked, glancing between me and Alec. He shook his head and breathed a laugh. Alec snarled at the use of his insult and triggered Graham who took the growl as a threat towards his wolf. He shoved Alec hard in the chest, causing him to stumble back a few steps. I shot forward, ramming my shoulder into Graham’s side which made him stumble over his own feet. My hand lashed out to wrap around his throat as I slammed him back into the wall beside my father’s desk “Don’t touch him!” I snarled at him, my hand starting to tighten as he tried to grip my wrist as an attempt to get me to let go. My claws sunk into the skin of his throat, drawing blood that ran down his neck and my bare arm. My father abruptly rose from his seat, hands slamming down onto his desk “That’s enough” he ordered but the order only effected Alec and Silas. I wasn’t bound by his barked commands, I was bound by nothing. I shoved Graham’s head back into the wall with a splintering c***k from where his skull fractured on impact. My wolf was free of her shackles, pacing the barrier of her cage, watching me with hungry, lustful eyes. She wanted to tear him apart, to shred him to little pieces until only bits of flesh and bone remained. It was a fight unlike any other, that took a lot out of me as I tried to force her back down every chance I’d get “You’re all so convinced that I’m a monster” I said, feeling Silas’ voice trying to reach me at the back of my mind, but I wasn’t listening, I was too consumed by the anger and rage towards the man in front of me to even look away from him. My eyes were flickering between glowing and becoming dull as I fought off my wolf, contemplating which tactic will work the best when I’d try to skin the man alive “So I’ll show you just how much of a monster I can be” I snarled in Graham’s face. His eyes widening in horror as he stared down at me. I’d never spoken up or stood up for myself against my father or his lackeys before and it was clearly shocking for them to see that I had a voice and power. His mouth hung open, wheezing as he clawed desperately at my arm, cutting through skin and drawing blood. I raised my free hand and was about to ram it into his chest when Silas’ voice echoed throughout the room “Luna!” my hand stopped mid air and my eyes dulled at the sound of his voice. My grip on Graham’s neck loosen as I lowered my other hand and hung my head. I clenched my teeth as I struggled to regain myself, eventually completely letting go of the Beta, causing him to fall to the ground in a heap. I turned to face my father, walking towards the front of his desk and dragging my claws along the wood, leaving deep cashes in my wake “Don’t you ever try to take the people I love away from me again” I threatened, my bloody hand gripping the desk as I leaned across it, holding his silver gaze with my golden one. My eyes were narrowed, cutting through him like knifes as I opened my mouth “Or I will kill you” with that I turned and stormed my way out of his office. Alec stayed behind to help his father, but Silas chose to follow me. I made my way downstairs, ignoring the terrified looks I got as I made my way out the back, sliding glass door and into the backyard. I wanted to shift, I needed to shift, my body was begging me to let go, to change but I couldn’t. I kicked off my heels and took off running deeper into the woods “Luna!” Silas called out after me as I disappeared from his range of sight. I wanted to be alone, to fight my battle alone, a battle that was never ending, one that would rage on for as long as I lived.
I was sat in between the roots of a tree with my back pressed firmly against its base. I hugged my knees to my chest and leaned my forehead against them, eyes staring down at the forest floor that was covered in fresh grass, twigs and rocks. I had no idea where I was, I couldn’t hear the river anymore, but I knew that I was still within pack territory. I was kneeling on the opposite side of the cage as my wolf, hands gripping the bars as I watched her pace back and forth along the length of her confinement. I tried to touch her, to caress her fur like I had earlier with Alec, but she snapped at me. I fell back onto my rear and away from the cage, eyes wide as I watched her bite at the bars, eyes filled with hunger as she snarled at me. There were two souls trapped inside my body, but one was to be locked away in a cage, a cage we’d spent most of our life in when we were younger and now I would walk free while she’d rot away in a small, metal box. I wanted to set her free, more than anything I wanted to shift and feel her lead us through the trees with the wind in our fur, but I was scared, I was afraid of what she’d do once I’d let her go. I stood up off the ground and turned my back to her, looking out through the two gaping holes that were my eyes and down at the forest floor “Blake!” it wasn’t Alec or Silas that came to find me like I’d thought but instead Nick’s scent filled my senses as I stirred, raising my head to glance out into the distance. He was searching, following my scent and shoving tree branches out of the way. I gripped the tree behind me with one hand and used it to hoist me up, making myself easier to spot. His eyes landed onto my form from a few meters away ‘Father has ordered us to kill the Betas’ he frantically said through the mind link. The fact that he was capable of communicating with me through it meant that he’d either left the pack or was temporarily dispelled from it like Silas was but knowing my brother, I knew he’d gone and done something stupid. My grip on the tree bark tightened, crushing it beneath my grip as I glanced in the direction of the pack house ‘Where’s Alec?’ I asked, well aware that Silas could hold his own against my brothers. Nick was leaning up against a tree, panting heavily. I took a closer look at him. His torso had been shredded by a set of claws and he was bleeding uncontrollably with his hand pressing firmly against it. I knew he’d heal eventually but the fact that his own brother had inflicted the wound on him. Nick had most likely stood up for us and in doing so had sealed his own fate ‘At the infirmary’ I nodded and pushed myself off the tree, taking off in the direction of the pack house. The infirmary was a separate building close by and only a short walk away from the pack house. I could only pray that my brothers hadn’t gone after Alec first. I leaped down a steep hill and sprinted through the mess of trees, my own heartbeat ringing in my ears as I forced my legs to go faster ‘Silas, where are you?’ I asked through the link as I broke through the tree line and into the backyard. My eyes searched the area but there was no one in sight which meant that Silas was either somewhere in the woods or inside the house. I frantically glanced in every direction, my eyes searching ‘Five miles in from the border line’ came his voice as my eyes locked onto a familiar dirt trail that lead away from the pack house clearing. I took off in a sprint, following it and allowing my bare feet to thud down onto the earth as my breathing quickened and my heart raced in both fear and adrenaline. My right arm was still covered in gashes and dried blood while my white shirt was dirty from having been in the woods, dirt stains littering its fabric ‘Fine Nick and get out of here!’ I yelled through the mind link. I knew the only reason he was so close to the border line was because he’d been out searching for me. There was a strangled grunt on the other side of the link followed by a cry of agony ‘I’m a little bust right now’ my eyes narrowed as I stared ahead, the white building coming into view as I clenched my teeth, canines starting to slowly elongate. It had to be my brothers who had him all tied up, but I knew there was no way that all four of them would go after Silas. My brothers were smarter than that, they split up, but I still had no idea how many were on their way to the infirmary or who they were. If it was either Scott or Dustin, I could take them, but Anthony was another story, although he couldn’t see very well, his other senses were perfectly in tune and Alec had personally trained Jake, which made him a powerful opponent ‘Stop fighting and run!’ my voice cried through the link. My hands were balled as I ran, my claws starting to extend until they were digging into my palms, drawing more blood that dripped down onto the dirt road. I couldn’t risk Silas fighting one of my brothers, especially after having seen what one of them did to Nick, who’d also been trained by Alec. Nick could hold his own in a fight but not if his opponent was Anthony. My eyes narrowed at the realization that our second eldest brother was the one who’d hurt him ‘I won’t leave you’ Silas gritted out, his voice sounding strained as growls emitted in the background. Two wolves, two of my brothers were after him. I could feel my blood heat up and start to boil as I quickened my pace, moving as fast as I possibly could for fear of them harming my mate. My wolf was snarling at the back of my mind, but it sounded as if she was yelling at me to go faster ‘Get Nick and go, that’s an order!’ I commanded, using my Alpha tone on him for the first time. I’d never had any reason to use it before and it surprised even me at how fierce I sounded. My voice held a snarl that was overpowering and demanding, it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end ‘Yes, Luna’ with that he was gone, and I was listening to the sound of my hurried breathing as I reached the infirmary. The double doors were opened wide and I knew that it wasn’t a good sign as I barreled through them and into the front office. I froze in the middle of the room, eyes searching for the direction I needed to go in. Alec’s scent still hung thick in the air which meant that he was somewhere inside the building. My head shot up when something came flying my way. A heavy metal chair struck the front desk, shattering the display cabinet behind it as I dodged and narrowed my eyes in the direction it had come from. Anthony stood in the long hallway, hands dug deep into the pockets of his black dress pants as he hung his head, looking down at the white, tiled flooring “I just knew you’d come running after your precious Beta mate” he said, his voice holding a hint of malice as he stood perfectly still, as if begging me to attack but I knew better than that. He was powerful, most likely the strongest wolf I’d ever come by. The only reason he’d lost his eyes and the fight against Dustin in the first place was because Dustin had ordered him to stand down and as his future Alpha, Ant had no choice but to let Dustin have his way with him otherwise I had no doubt that Dustin would’ve been dead “Get out of my way” I said, eyes glaring at his form. There was a reason why he was stood where he was. Alec was in the room at the end of the hall with his father but why he hadn’t come rushing out yet caused worry to rise inside of me. Anthony had done something to him “But where’s the fun in that?” Ant asked, raising his head but his eyes were completely closed, glasses missing as old scars ran across his closed lids. He was grinning, like he was enjoying it, enjoying hurting Alec and getting a chance at me. He was excited and thrilled by the thought of killing me “The point of all this is for you to get past me, you do that, and I’ll let you go” Anthony might’ve been a bloodlust and power-hungry fool, but he wasn’t a liar and that gave me some hope for the future. I just needed to get past him but doing that wasn’t going to be easy. I slowly nodded my head in agreement to his terms and tried to think of a tactic to get through to Alec. I shot forward, trying to ram my way past him to see if it’d work but Ant reached his hand out, his hand gripping my shoulder and shoving back hard enough for me to be sent flying. I landed on my back, sliding across the tiled flooring with my teeth clenched and my eyes squeezed shut. Once I stopped skidding, Anthony let out a low laugh and lowered his arm back to his side “Pathetic” he commented while I got back onto my feet and clutched at my shoulder. The force of his shove had dislocated it on impact and my arm just limply hung at my side. I used my other hand to click it back into place, my canines sinking into my bottom lip as I fought the scream trying to escape my lips. I couldn’t show him any weakness. Once my arm was back in place, I turned grabbing onto a vase and throwing it at him. I took off running again, hoping that the vase would distract him long enough for me to get by him, but he simply shattered the vase in mid-air and sent his fist down on my back. I cried out as my body hit the floor beside his feet, hands slapping against the tiles as a few of my ribs were fractured. Anthony grabbed hold of the back of my shirt and tossed me aside like I was a ragdoll, back into the front office. My back colliding with the sofa was what brought me to a stop, in a heap on the floor “Surely you can do better than that” he mocked me, his smirk haunting me as I forced myself up onto my hands and knees, arms and legs trembling as I tried to hold up my own body weight. I used the back of the couch to get to my feet, swaying slightly from the pain that coursed through my chest and arm. I had to get through to Alec, I had to reach him. I gasped for air as my eyes searched the room, trying to find something, anything to use against him. My eyes landed on a large shard of glass, on the floor near where I’d been lying earlier, and an idea came to mind. I shoved myself away from the couch and lunged, fist raised and ready to connect with his jaw but just like I was hoping he would, he dodged my fist and brought his knee up to ram it into my stomach. My mouth opened as blood splattered out across his face and my eyes widened when the force drove me back onto the ground where I tumbled a few times, my back once again hitting the sofa and forcing it some feet away. I coughed violently, moving around on the floor as I tried to get back up onto my hands and knees but every time I’d try, my feet would slide out from under me, wet from the small glass shards that had dug their way into their soles. Blood smeared across the tiles until I got into a crouching position and reached for the large glass shard, raising my head to look up at my brother “I was honestly expecting more from a wolf born” he muttered, shaking his head as I gritted my teeth. He couldn’t see me, but he could sense me which meant that long rage attacks were the way to go. I gripped the shard, having it dig into the skin of my palm as I threw it, watching it fly through the air until it imbedded itself into Anthony’s shoulder. He cried out in pain, staggering back a few steps as he reached up to pull the shard out of his shoulder, dropping it to clutch his wound “You b***h!” he snapped, turning his attention back onto me. I stayed rooted in place, panting and trying to think of something, anything. My wolf snarled, causing me to turn and look back at her in her iron cage that was laced with silver. Her shackles were wrapped around her limbs and neck as she tugged at them, eyes narrowed onto me, yelling at me. She wanted her mate and she wouldn’t let anyone stand in her way. She was yelling at me to do something, to get to Alec but I couldn’t not on my own. I stepped through the bars of her cell and reached for her shackles, the moment my fingertips touched their metal, they shattered into pieces and my wolf was released into her cage where she began biting and clawing at its bars. I stood up right, blood dripping down my hands and arm as I raised my head to look at Anthony, eyes glowing a bright gold. I was no longer in control of my body, she was, and she was hungry. I stayed in the back of our mind, ready to chain her back up the moment she’d get out of hand, always leaving that small thread connecting us in place for when she’d lose it “I’ll kill you!” Anthony yelled as she began walking towards him, taking slow, predatory strides as if she was trying to give him time to run. She enjoyed the chase, but Ant wasn’t going anywhere, he stayed rooted in place, ready to fight but he didn’t stand a chance. The aura radiating from her was one of death and destruction when she neared him. He tried to attack but she simply reached out, shoving his head aside and into the wall. A c***k sounded as she grabbed hold of his shirt and forced his back into the opposite wall. Blood dripped down from the corner of his lips as he sunk to the floor in a heap. My wolf watched him for a few minutes, contemplating whether she really wanted to kill him or not. She bent down but I tugged on our string, causing the shackles to reattack themselves around her neck and limbs. She turned in her cage to round on me with a loud snarl, but I knew that the shackles wouldn’t allow her to get anywhere near me. I stepped out of the cage and turned my back on her again, once again in control of my body. I stood up, walking through the doors at the end of the hall to find Alec passed out on the floor near the foot of the bed. I hurried to his side, falling to my knees beside him “Alec, Alec!” I yelled, shaking his shoulder as an attempt to wake him but he wouldn’t move. Tears began to fill my eyes as I gripped the material of his s**t and shook him but still there was nothing. I stopped and pressed my forehead against his chest as the tears began to escape my eyes, trailing down the side of my face. Anthony let out a low laugh “He’s been heavily sedated and should be out for at least another hour or so” Alec’s heartbeat rang in my ears as I lowered him back onto the ground and looked back at Ant through the door. He was a mess, blood running down his shoulder, arm and chin, blood having been smeared down the wall from the wound on his head when he crumpled to the ground but he was alive and would heal completely within the next few minutes “And I should probably inform you that I have no issue with staying out of your way since you got past me but our brothers don’t quite agree with that” he was a sly, cruel man, having planned everything out from the beginning. He’d sedated Alec to make it harder for us to reach the border line and on top of that he’d most likely alerted our brothers of where I was, and they were on their way. They knew that I couldn’t get Alec past the border line without having to carry him which would take time, and time was something we didn’t have with my brothers standing in our way. I glanced around the room, searching for a way out when I remembered something. We were in an infirmary. I grabbed onto Alec’s shirt and dragged him over to the corner of the room, positioning him so that he was sat, slumped over with his back pressed against the wall. I glanced at Graham, despite wanting him to suffer for what he’d done to Silas, for abandoning his son, I knew I couldn’t just let him get caught in the crossfire and die, he was still my mate’s father. I noticed that he was resting but wasn’t hooked up to an IV, so I slipped my arms under his and hoisted him up, off the bed. I staggered, nearly dropping him but I managed to get one arm around my shoulder as I carried him to the corner of the room where I gently sat him down beside Alec. I then rolled the bed into the corner to act as a shield to protect them “What are you doing?” Anthony asked, his eyes watching me as I stepped out of the room and closed the door behind me. I turned to look down at him and rammed my fist into the glass to get to the emergency fire extinguisher. I barely noticed when the glass cut through my skin and took hold of the heavy, metal object. I stood over Anthony, who was oblivious to what was going on around him, only hearing me move around and knowing that I was up to something “Sorry” I muttered before ramming the extinguisher into the side of his head, knocking him out on impact. I tossed the extinguisher aside with a loud clang and stepped into a room that had a toxic waste symbol on it. Cabinets lined the walls, all filed with clear bottles of liquid. I opened a metal drawer near the door, frantically searching for the object of my desire until my eyes locked onto a large syringe with some needles sealed in plastic wrapping. I grabbed the injection and a needle, unwrapping it to attack it to the tube as I made my way over to the cabinets, eyes scanning the labels in search of the one that read sedative. When I found the bottle of clear liquid, I stuck the needle into it and drew as much of the liquid into the tube as possible. It was enough to knock a fully grown male elephant out cold. I tapped the syringe with my index finger and set it down on the metal operating table in the middle of the room. IV bags filled with strong smelling liquid hung on the far wall, so grabbing one I tore it open and dripped the liquid over my head, smearing it onto my arms and causing my wounds to burn. I gritted my teeth, eyes watering as I continued to fully drench myself in the clear substance. I needed to mask my scent and what better way to do so than by using medical smells that had an obnoxiously overpowering scent? I could hear feet approaching and hurried to grab the injection, opening the door to the room and positioning myself on the wall beside it, giving me, a full view of the room Alec and his father were passed out in. My plan was to sedate Jake and take on the remaining two before they’d have a chance to get to Alec. Jake and Scott stepped into the building “The place is completely trashed” Scott commented, most likely referring to the shattered case and blood staining the floor with furniture having been tossed around. I stayed quiet, eyes locking onto an unconscious Anthony that was positioned against the wall beside the doorframe. I knew they’d be stupid enough to approach their brother without giving it a second thought “Ant!” Scott’s voice echoed throughout the hall as hurried footsteps sounded followed by another, calmer pair. Scott fell to his knees beside his brother, his back to me. He shook Anthony’s shoulder, trying to get through to him as Jake stepped into my range of view. I used my right hand to ram the needle into the side of his neck and inject the fluid as fast as I could. Jake grunted as I stepped back from the door of the room and moments later he went tumbling down to the ground “Jake? Jake!” Scott frantically yelled, turning to face his little brother but before he could do anything, I raised my foot and connected it with the side of his head. The force sent his head slamming into the far wall which knocked him out quicker than I thought possible. I knew, I couldn’t let my guard down with Dustin nowhere in sight, but I also knew that I could take him, so I grabbed a scalpel from the operating table and stepped out into the hall. His scent gave him away long before he did. He stepped out of a side room and looked up at me with a sly smirk plastered across his lips. I was the only thing standing between him and my mate and there was no way in hell I was going to allow him to get past me “You’re smart, I’ll give you that” he said, his eyes finding our unconscious brothers as he turned to fully face me. I held the scalpel close to my thigh so that he wouldn’t spot it, his eyes focusing on my face and the state I was in. He found it amusing that I was covered in blood and wounds from head to toe and grinned at the sight of me, taking pleasure in the fact that Anthony had gotten some decent hits in “Or they were just stupid enough to fall right into my trap” I shot back, I was aware of what I was saying and why I was saying the things I were. I needed to get Dustin to let his guard down and to be able to do that, I needed to get him angry, to be reckless and not think about the details. Dustin might’ve been cold and cruel, but he cared about his brothers almost as much as I cared about Silas, so my comment caused something inside him to stir “Watch your mouth” he warned in a low tone, but his eyes weren’t flickering black, yet which meant he still had control over himself. I needed to push him, and I had to think fast on how to do it “But I guess it runs in the family, I mean you’re not the brightest either” Dustin’s eyes narrowed onto my form, filled with hate and disgust. He thought he could take me on, despite only managing to land one blow, the last time we fought. His cockiness and ego were what would be the death of him someday but in that moment, I was grateful because it made him vulnerable and weak. I needed to buy time, to get beyond the pack border and Dustin unwittingly made himself an easy target “Otherwise you would’ve come after me instead of sending Anthony” boosting his ego would distract him even more which was my goal. I tightened my grip on the scalpel, getting ready for when he’d attack and just as the next set of words left my mouth, he did “He is a better fighter, so it would’ve been the obvious choice” he had his fist raised and canines bared as his eyes flickered from black to silver. I raised my hand and threw the scalpel, aiming for his leg where it imbedded itself. Dustin stopped and fell to one knee, a painfilled cry escaping his lips as he reached for the scalpel, pulling it out of his leg and sending it right back at me. I stepped to the side, watching it get stuck into the door that lead to the room Alec was in. I grabbed hold of Jake’s collar and sent him flying in Dustin’s direction. The two collided as I made my way over to where Dustin was kneeling. Dustin shoved Jake aside and made to stand up, but he couldn’t, I’d severed the main artery in his leg and he was starting to bleed out despite the wound healing rather quickly. I didn’t want to kill him, I just wanted to blur his vision from the loss of blood which worked. As soon as the wound was fully healed, he was blinking rapidly, stumbling slightly as he gripped the wall beside him as an attempt to regain his balance, but it was no use, I had the upper hand. I reached him, and he lashed out to try and punch me, but his advances were weak, and he only managed to knock himself off balance. I grabbed hold of his neck before he could fall to the ground and pinned him back against the wall of the hallway, tightening my grip while he weakly tried to pry my hand away. I met his gaze and held it until his eyes rolled back in his head and he passed out from suffocation. I let go, allowing him to drop to the ground with a thud then started making my way back to the room Alec and his father were in. My muscles tensed when I heard movement coming from the room and started running. I shoved the door open to find that Graham was seated in the corner, an IV tube wrapped around Alec’s throat as he stared at me with wide eyes from underneath the hospital bed I’d pushed into place to shield them. Alec was barely awake, his pupils dilated and his eyes foggy as he gripped at the tube. It was easy to tell that he was still under the affects of the sedative, but he was running on adrenaline just to try and stay alive. I felt a hot surge of anger shoot through me as I stalked closer to the two of them. Him trying to strangle his own son to death was enough to push any sane person over the edge. I shoved the hospital bed aside, hearing it collide with the far wall as I leaned over the two of them. This was how he repaid me for sparing his life, not once but twice? I reached down as he tightened his grip on the tube and used a single claw to cut it. Alec gasped out, coughing and gripping his throat as I grabbed hold of Graham’s chin and shoved his head back into the corner of the room “You deserve to die” I snarled in his face, watching the fear dancing in his eyes as I let go of his chin for the sake of his son’s and bent down to help Alec stand up, wrapping one arm around my shoulder as I held onto his torso. I navigated him towards the door and down the hall. His head moved from side to side as he looked at the image of my brothers, but he was too weak and tired to even speak. He tripped over his own feet, and I had to catch him before he fell face first onto the floor. It took us around half an hour to reach the border line where Silas and Nick were waiting. The sun had set a few hours ago and everything was dark as we staggered through the woods, slowly until he eventually got his strength back and could walk on his own again. I was exhausted and by the time I crossed the border, I passed out, falling to the forest floor with Silas’ voice the last thing I heard before I was dragged down into the dark depths of my mind “Blake!” he’d very rarely call me by my name, but it felt good, to hear him call me that.
