4. The Ball

Lindsy POV:

I woke up happy, we’ll be having guests today.

I checked the time. It was 5:50am.

I went to have a bath. I wanted to feel and be beautiful today.

I dressed, brushed my hair and made a bun, I’ll dress properly later.

My mom knocked on the door and opened it. I was already ready for today.

I did all the things I had to do. When it was about 10am, my father called all of us to his office.

We’ll be having guests so I’m sure he wants to give us some tips.

We made our way to his office.

Beta Hans was also there but he was expressionless.

We turned to look at my father, waiting for what he wanted to say.

“As you all may know, today the soon to be Alpha Henry Arcane will be coming today. He’ll be the Alpha of the strongest Pack of the Werewolves Realm, the Black Moon Pack, and he’s unmated” he said, and I frowned, what does it have to do with anything? Like, who cares if he was mated or not? “I’ll try a negotiation with him today and I’ll offer you, Lindsy” he pointed at me and my heart started to race, “to be his chosen mate and become his Luna”, he said and I felt myself falling on the chair, my legs went numb and weak.

I wanted to scream, I wanted to cry, but I knew better than to face my father’s rage.

“What?” my mom said “Mueller, you can’t do that to our daughter” she continued.

“Liliane, it’s for the best, she’ll be the Luna, she’ll be worth something, she’ll be important and she will follow my orders, which means that it will be like I was ruling the Black Moon Pack”, he said with determination, and my mom just gave me a pitiful look.

It hurts, he really thinks that I’m not worth it, that I’m useless.

I glanced at my brother and I could see his jaw stiffed but there was also nothing he could do.

I was so happy we would be having guests today, but now, everything just fell apart.

“Lindsy, you will do whatever it takes to seduce him, you hear? And you will accept it willingly, right?” he said with a threatening tone.

“Yes, Alpha” I said, looking down.

“Good girl” he said, “You can all leave, we’ll be having a ball tonight and all the ranked wolves are invited.”

They all left and my legs were too numb so I was the last to go out, but before, I turned to my father.

“Alpha, why do I need to do whatever it takes to seduce him?”

“Because he wouldn’t ever accept it if he sees that you don’t want to go” he replied without even looking at me, and I left.

All right, first, I was a mess in the art of seduction.

Second, I knew I had to accept it and do whatever it takes because I had no other option.

I’d have to try to make him accept me or else I’d probably be left to die here, my father would get me whipped again.

What should I do?

I always dreamed of meeting my fated mate, being happy, leaving this place willingly and not because of my father, who wanted to use me to have free access to the Black Moon Pack.

I felt dizzy.

“You, come here right now”, Leon said, and I just nodded.

I went into his room and sat on his bed, still feeling a little dizzy.

“Lindsy, I won’t ever let him do that to you, I’ll protect you, you hear me?” he said and I forced a smile at him.

“Leon, you can’t. You have to become the Alpha this pack needs, you’ll be the best Alpha this pack ever had”. I told him, I didn’t know why I was saying this. I really wished someone could intervene in my case after all.

I left and went to my room.

I laid down on my bed and started to cry.

Why does my father hate me that much?

He wanted to offer me to an Alpha because of his own personal reasons. I was nothing but an object he wanted to use as he pleased.

My mom came into the room.

“Please, honey, don’t cry” she said, caressing my hair.

“Mom, how can I not cry?” I asked her.

“Let me tell you something, I met Alpha Henry before at one of the Royal Pack Meetings. He’s nothing but a handsome and noble man, he would never accept it without asking you if you want to go”, she told me, and I stopped crying.

“You’re saying that Alphas aren’t always like dad?” I asked her as my face was frowned.

“He’s far beyond different, my dear, he’s sweet, caring and he’s a gentleman. Let’s say that if your father wants to offer you to him, he couldn’t have chosen a better man” she said, and I felt a little better.

“It’s not like I had any choice left, thanks mom, you made me feel better but still I can’t believe that dad hates me that much to simply do it without even asking for my permission”, I told her and she held me tight.

“I’m sorry, pup. I wish there was something I could do” she whispered to me.

“Mom, thank you, you’re the best mom in the world” I told her and she kissed my forehead.

I felt better and after talking to my mom, I felt brave and determined.

I would do it and I would make my father proud of me somehow.

I did my duties around the Pack and when I was outside, Hans approached me.

“Hi Lindsy” he said, and I just nodded at him.

“Look, I’m sorry for the other day” he said, and I looked intently at his face.

“Hans, you have nothing to apologize for, there’s nothing going on between you and me”, I told him coldly.

“Why were you there, then?” he asked me.

“Well, I decided I would share my first kiss with you but it was all a mistake, you’re not my mate”, I told him honestly, and his eyes opened wide.

“Really? You’d let me kiss those soft and pretty lips of yours?” he smirked.

“I WAS going to let you, I’m NOT going to let you anymore, Hans. I thought you were my fated mate because you were always around me, but I guess a fated mate wouldn’t feel any attraction towards any other woman and it’s fine, I’m cool”, I told him, and he frowned.

“Look, I can protect you. We can mate and I can mark you as mine, you. You won't ever have to leave with the Alpha” he said, and I laughed.

“Nice try, but I'd rather let the Alpha mate me and mark me tonight instead of you” I said, and I turned my back to him and left.

How dare he? He also wants to decide about my future. He's just like my father and I'm so done with all of this.

It was already almost 6pm and I decided to get ready.

Henry POV:

Chaos was pacing around in my mind and he was giving me a headache.

“It’s really far, I can’t believe I’m doing this” I told Randall while driving.

“I can drive instead if you’re tired” he said, and I shook my head.

“Really? I’m talking about going to the Silver Moon Pack”, I chuckled nervously.

“Oh, don’t be such a p***y, why are you so scared of?” He asked me and I gulped hard and his face was serious now.

“What are you not telling me, Henry?” he asked me, and Chaos laughed in my mind.

“Do you remember Stacy?” I asked him.

“Oh, your rejected slut, what about her?”

“The day I met her, Chaos let me know only a few seconds before and now he’s driving me nuts all morning and he’s giving me a f*****g headache”, I told him honestly and his eyes opened wide.

“Isn’t that a good thing?” he asked me.

“I’m scared, I don’t think I’m ready to face a bond right now, I have a Pack to focus on. And Randall, I can’t. I can’t go through that s**t again, I can’t get hurt because I don’t think I’d survive now”. I told him. I don’t know if I was overreacting, but that’s the way I feel.

“You’re being a p***y, I want my mate” Chaos said, making me even more nervous.

“Henry, you’re a great man, just take baby steps if you find her and if you see she’s a w***e, then reject her already and pick up a nice lady to be your chosen one” he said, and my heart was racing now.

I surely didn’t want to have a chosen mate, but I was also too scared to get hurt again by my fated mate.

Even though I’ve been through hell, I always treasured the mate bond. I wouldn’t change the way I think because of anyone, but it still creeps me out a big time.

“There’s something you’re forgetting, Randall” I told him.

“What?”

“We’re going to the Silver Moon Pack, what do you think about it?” I asked with my hands sweating.

“Oh s**t” he simply said.

When we arrived, his Beta Hans received us.

“Welcome to the Silver Moon Pack” he said, and he looked at me with an enraged face.

I pretended I didn’t notice.

We reached the Pack House and he opened the door and there was a huge living room and there was a lot of Wolves there chatting and dancing. They seemed happy.

Suddenly, the smell of jasmine and lavender entered my nostrils and intoxicated me.

“Mate, it’s our mate” Chaos said.

“Oh no, Randall, get me out of here, I can smell her” I pleaded to him and he patted my back.

“Not today, buddy, we’re in this together” he said, I didn’t know if I was relieved or not. I wanted to follow where this scent was coming from and suddenly I saw her.

She was small, about 5’3, she had long blonde hair with loose curls, natural tan skin, green eyes, soft skin and she was skinny but had a curvy body that made me almost drool on the floor. Chaos, otherwise, was drooling all over her, she was wearing a red dress that was doing nothing to hide her round breast and the curve of her ass.

“Mine” I claimed. I couldn’t hold back the claim.

“Wow, she’s fine, look at her ass. I can’t wait to have her pinned under me moaning over and over again” he said, and I quickly put him at the back of my mind. I don’t need this horny wolf telling me what he wants to do to her right now.

Randall looked at her and he smiled.

“Not bad, she seems young though” he said, and I frowned.

“But can’t she recognize me? I mean, she doesn’t even seem like she could smell me”. As soon as I said it, I noticed her expression went blank but soon Luna Liliane approached her and she started to talk to her.

Who is she?

Suddenly, Alpha Mueller greeted us by standing in front of me and blocking my view. I didn’t know if I was thankful or if I should kill him.

My heart was racing, my body was aching to hold her and Chaos was still giving me a heartache to approach her.

“Please, enjoy yourself before we talk about business, Alpha Henry, Randall, I’m glad you also came” he said politely, and we nodded.

“You have a nice Pack, Alpha Mueller” I replied to him, also politely.

He left and I saw she was alone.

“Go talk to her”, Randall said, and I glanced at her, but before I could move, Beta Hans seemed to have offered his hand to her, probably asking for a dance, and I got enraged, but she just ignored him, raising her hand for him to leave and he left.

I chuckled and I was relieved, she didn’t seem like Stacy at all.

Suddenly, her gaze found mine and I froze.

She looked intently at me, curiosity in her eyes.

I smiled at her and she smiled back and looked away blushing, she was so beautiful.

I took it as a signal to approach her, so I did it.

“Hi, may I?” I asked, offering my hand to her, hoping she wouldn’t reject me and somehow, she didn’t.

The music looks like Celtic Music, just a little bit up, which was perfect to have her close to me.

“Sure” she said, smiling, and hearing her voice for the first time felt like heaven.

She held my hand and stood up, my body almost convulsed by the perfect electric jolt and tingles she made me feel. She frowned a little but soon she relaxed again.

I didn’t know what was happening, all I knew was that I had the urge to hold her close to me.

I held her closer to my chest and she was almost laying on me. She looked up at me and gave me an apologetic look.

“Sorry, I’m not used to dancing so I’m a mess” she said, blushing and making me chuckle.

“Don’t worry about that”, I lifted her and her toes were hanging on my shoes as I was leading the steps.

She looked down, then at me again and she giggled.

She was so beautiful, the most beautiful girl I’ve ever laid my eyes on, it's going to be harder than I thought.

But why can’t she feel the bond?
