The Beta's Second Chance Mate

2. The Meeting

Henry POV:

We made our way into the Meeting Room and the King was already there waiting for us with Alpha Stephen.

“Welcome, please, make yourself comfortable” King Conri said politely and we just chuckled.

“What the hell is wrong with him? Becoming all preppy now” Chaos said in my mind, it was true, Conri swear a lot and he was very playful but we were his friends, he wasn't like that to the other Alphas.

“What the f**k?” Conri swore and both Randall and I raised our eyebrow, now that’s more like him but of course we also just treated him this way because we were friends from a long, long time ago.

“All of you will never grow up” Alpha Stephen from Shadow Pack said chuckling, Stephen was also good friend of us, as Alpha Conan from the Black Forest Pack.

More Alphas were coming in and we were serious now waiting, Alpha Stephen was sitting on Conri’s left side as Randall was sitting on a chair behind the King as his Beta and I was sitting on the King’s right side.

Today was the day King Conri would share the news that Randall will become his Beta in a few days and I’ll be taking the Alpha position.

It took a few years for me to be as commanding as an Alpha because I didn’t want the position at first but Randall got me when he told me his reason, we were best friends ever since we were pups and it’s going to be hard to live in the Pack House without him around.

When all the 16 Alphas were in, King Conri stood up and everybody went quiet.

“Before we officially start with the Pack's bureaucracy, I’d like to inform you all that Randall will be taking the Beta position in the Royal Pack in a week and Henry will be taking the Alpha position on the Black Moon Pack” the Alphas greeted me after he stated.

“Your Highness, the Black Moon Pack should have someone from the Alpha bloodline to be their Alpha, don’t you think?” Alpha Mueller said and I got enraged, Chaos took it as a challenge and I let out a loud growl that made all the Royal Room tremble, everybody went quiet, even I did.

I was surprised by myself.

“I didn’t know it could be that powerful” I told Chaos.

“I’m as surprised as you, I just let my instinct overflow in my veins, that Alpha is the worst, I pity his son” Chaos said in my mind.

“Well, I guess there’s no more doubts that Henry is a perfect fit for the biggest Pack of the Werewolves Realm after that” King Conri said serious like it was not a big deal.

I noticed Alpha Mueller was looking intently at his son, they were mind-linking.

“One more question, Henry, are you mated?” he questioned me and I felt a cold shiver run down all over my spine, what kind of question was that? The mate bond has been a sensitive topic for me for decades, does he even know about what happened to me?

“Not yet” I simply said after I gulped hard, I didn’t want to say that I was scared of finding my second chance mate, I could see that Alpha Mueller placed his finger on his chin and a big grin formed on his face as he was staring intently at me.

“Don’t let him get to you, Henry” Randall mind-linked me and I slightly nodded without looking at him.

"What? Did they want to mate you now?" Chaos said and I almost chuckled.

The meeting kept on and then we had dinner, I didn’t feel like I wanted to stay after the King formally dismissed us, he always asked for his Omegas to prepare all the guests rooms in case any of us wanted to stay because the Meeting started at evening and could take hours to finish.

So, I approached Randall and asked him if he wanted to stay, stupid question, of course he didn’t.

His mate was waiting for him.

Before I leave, Alpha Mueller approached me along with two men, he had a wicked grin.

“Alpha Henry, please, do not take it personally. I’m truly happy for you” he said patting my back.

“This is my son Leon Redcliff, I have a 17 years old daughter called Lindsy Redcliff, you all know my Beta Hans. I want to try some negotiations with you, it doesn’t need to be today, I want to invite you to the Silver Moon Pack” he said with a pleading eye.

I frowned, that was very unexpected.

“No offense, Alpha Mueller, you’ve heard about the Black Moon Pack, what exactly do you have to offer to us?” I asked him trying to sound not so unkindly, his son came closer and stood in front of me, he was very well dressed and had a politely smile on his face.

“Please Alpha Henry, just come to visit us, it would be such an honor to have you as a guest, we can talk about business there, besides, you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain by getting to know other Packs” he said.

“I think it’s a good idea if you ask me” Randall said.

I thought for a moment.

“Fine, I’ll be there in about two days if that’s ok with you, I train the Pack’s warriors myself, I’ll ask my Beta to keep on my duties” I told them and they smiled at me.

“We will be waiting, Alpha Henry” Mueller’s son said.

I made my way to the car and got on the driver seat.

“Really?” Randall asked me with a frowned face because I'm the one who drove all the way to the Royal Pack and usually we trade places on our way back.

“I need to focus on something, this is so odd, he wouldn’t invite me just to visit his pack, it’s Alpha Mueller’s we’re talking about” I told Randall.

“True but he wouldn’t invite you on the Royal Pack if he had the plan to kill you, he knows better than that” Randall said and I got relaxed a little.

I wasn’t afraid of being attacked but on what he was planning to do, what kind of negotiations or agreement did he want?

I wonder how his family was like, they all should have been like him if not worse to stand a man like him, Luna Liliane seemed like a good person though.

I turned on some music on the car and try to shook those thoughts off me.

Alpha Mueller POV:

Many thoughts are running inside my mind.

“We won’t be staying tonight, we need to get everything settled for Henry’s visit to our Pack” I told Leon and Hans.

“Alpha, can you tell us what you’re planning to do?” Hans asked me.

“Just business, Hans…just business” I said smiling.

The Black Moon Pack was the strongest Pack and I want to take advantage of it and I know exactly how now.

I knew my daughter would serve me good someday, nobody could deny she was beautiful like the Goddess itself, even my Beta was flirting her all the time.

“You should treat her better” my wolf Scar said.

“You know what? You’re the reason we’re not ruling the greatest Pack today” I told him and put him in the back of my mind.

I did chose Liliane to be my Luna because she descended from an Alpha bloodline, she's beautiful and she was a she-wolf to make me look good on my pack but then, I met my fated mate, she was also descended from an Alpha bloodline, not as beautiful as Liliane though and we had our hidden relationship for years and she got pregnant twice, she didn’t want to be only my mistress, she wanted me to kill Liliane so I could make her my Luna, she also didn’t want to get pregnant and after she gave birth to Leon, she handed him over to me.

I had no choice but to tell Liliane everything, she barely went out the Pack House so it was easy to pretend a pregnancy, after 2 years, my fated mate came to me again, the pull was strong so I ended up f*****g her again and she got pregnant again, I was happy I would have two boys but she handed me a girl.

I wanted to get rid of her but Liliane didn’t let me.

I decided I’d reject my mate but I haven’t seen her ever since, they were my pups after all and Liliane did good raising them as her own pups.

She was also a great Luna and I was thankful for that, we created a bound that I believe it was greater than the mate bond, it was partnership, I love her and I truly cared for her even though I might not always show this side of me, I plan to reject my mate and finally, after decades, mark Liliane as my chosen mate, I would be loyal to her then.

I wanted Lindsy to be bold and strong, she was strong actually but she was shy, naïve and sweet, she treated the Omegas as an equal and that I couldn’t have.

My pups have to be great, strong and fearless.

But I had Leon instead, he was still soft but I’ll make him the man I am now.

Who could tell that Lindsy would end up being the key I needed to rule the Black Moon Pack?

I smirked.

Neither Leon and Hans said anything, good, I’d leave it for now, I’m going to share the news a few moments before Henry comes visit us.

Lindsy POV:

I woke up early with my mother entering my bedroom.

“Honey, please, wake up” she whispered and I yawned.

“What’s wrong, mom?” I asked her rubbing my sleepiness away.

“They didn’t stay on the Royal Pack yesterday” she said and I stood up in a jolt.

“What time is it now?” I asked her quickly undressing for a shower.

“It’s 6am, they’ll wake up about 7am, we have an hour” she said and I nodded already naked and took a quickly shower and got prepared, picked up a black legging and a white tank top, made my long blonde hair a ponytail and left my room and I went straight to the kitchen.

“Good morning” I said to my mom and the Omegas in a very low voice.

They just repeated good morning with their lips without any sound at all.

Of course, if my father listen to us saying good morning to each other, he’d kill all of us.

The Omegas were cooking and my mom and I was organizing the table, watering our plants and checking if everything was ok.

It was 7am when we finished to organize everything, we always had to have everything checked in the morning and tell the Omegas if we wanted them to do something different and specifical, the Pack House was huge, it was all in sync, me and my mom sat on the table to have breakfast at 7:10am and at 7:15am both my father and Leon were making their way down.

“Good morning” both me and mom greeted them in unison.

“Good morning, mom” he said as he kissed her forehead and he approached me “good morning, sis” he did the same to me.

My father just nodded at us.

We finished to eat.

“Leon, I’m going out for a run before we get back to business” our father said and he nodded leaving the dinner room.

The Omegas cleaned the table and I checked if it was all organized.

“Honey, I’m going to call my friend from my antique Pack, you’re free for now” my mom said to me and nodded.

We have almost the same technology than in the Human Realm, but it was greater, the Wizard King made sure to bring blue energy to our Realms a long time ago so we all had cellphones, TVs and so on but we didn’t use it much because we were always busy and mind-linking.

I went after my brother, I was curious and he was the only person, besides my mom, I could be myself around.

I knocked on the door.

“Who is it?” he asked.

“The Batman” I said rolling my eyes and opening the door.

“How the hell do you know who the Batman is? We’re not in the Human Realm, sis” he said and I chuckled.

“I saw your movies, comic books and video-games when I was cleaning your room” I let him know and he chuckled.

“You can keep it to yourself if you want, I don’t use them anymore, you know, I have about 2 hours of free time a day and I want to make sure I spend it on my bed relaxing” he told me.

“Can you tell me about the Royal Meeting? How did it go? What happened that you didn’t stay?” I asked him, I was so curious and I truly wanted to know how is the life outside our pack.

“Wow, calm down, sis. It was fine, always the same. The news was that the Alpha of the Black Moon Pack will become the King’s Beta and the Black Moon Pack’s Beta will become an Alpha” he said and I frowned.

“I didn’t know it was even possible” I told him.

“Me neither but you had to see his aura, it was magnificent, it was insane, Dad said that the Alpha should be someone who had an Alpha bloodline but the Beta let out a growl that Dad almost jumped on his chair and the whole place quivered” he said mimicking our father and I rose my eyebrows.

“Wow, that was so amazing” I said and then I ended up chuckling by imagining having Alpha Mueller scared of a growl.

Leon also chuckled.

“I truly wish you could be there, sis. I’m sorry” he said and I glanced at him, I knew he was meaning it.

I kissed his cheek and I stood up to leave his room.

“Wait, sis. There’s something else” he said and I happily made my way back again.

I couldn’t help but being curious about everything I didn’t see and couldn’t have.
