Chapter 3:A gift
Jade woke up with a banging headache she hissed as the ray of sun shines brightly on her face from the window..she looked around and realized she was home but couldn't remember coming home the night before, she turned she saw Reyna who was getting ready to go for lectures.
"Good morning drunk one" Reyna greeted mockingly with a smile.
"Don't give me that face Rey" Jade stands up weakly.
"I'm guessing you're not going for lectures today"
"Obviously!"Jade hisses as she massages her head.
Reyna turns to leave but Jade stops her…
"Hey!!Rey who brought us home last night??"
"I did,"Reyna said .
Nana cuts in immediately"there's no need to lie to Jade".
Reyna looked at Nana lost and confused
Oh please Reyna why can't you just say you called your boyfriend to come pick us up???
Jade's eyes widened in shock"my baby has a boyfriend!!!" She exclaimed excitedly.
"No!! I don't!!!Nana to stop talking nonsense… I lost my phone at that lounge because of you two coconut heads and this is the thank you I got??"
Jade pouts adorably and hugs Reyna "so sorry baby ... .thanks for coming to pick us".
"Thanks,but why do I have the feeling that I just helped you get an excellent catch?" Nana said as a small smile played on her face.
"You lack sense," Reyna complained angrily.
"But you still love me !!"Nana said jokingly.
"I don't have your time …I need to go so I wouldn't be late"Reyna leaves.
"Why is she always so serious??" Nana asked and rolled her eyes.
"Why are you always trying to push her to the edge ??"Jade responded.
"Am I???"
"Nana you are a total pain in the ass!"
"I know baby"nana flips her hair and sits on the bed with a small smile.
"My head is banging, Do you have any drugs??"
"Ummmm…"Nana acts like she was thinking "actually Jade I don't have drugs but I know what can help"Nana smiles mischievously.
"Which is???"
"s*x!!!they say it cures headache faster than drugs".
Jade rolls her eyes "you're stupid!"
Nana laughs "just call Derrick cause he can help!"
Jade rolls her eyes and walks into the bathroom to take a shower.
Meanwhile
Reyna had just finished lectures and was at the school library when someone came and sat in front of her,it was Liam ... .She completely ignored his presence and continued reading.
"Hey!" Liam says as he sits on the chair opposite Reyna but she ignores him.
"Back to being sassy??" Liam asks but Reyna ignores him ... .Liam brings his face to a very close proximity with hers and she raises her head and glares at him angrily .
"I knew that would work,"Liam smirked.
"Now what??..you have my attention" Reyna signs frustratedly.
"I thought we're friends"
"That's not enough reason for you to be bugging me"Reyna rolls her eyes.
"Okay…fair enough..I just wanted to apologize for your phone. I feel guilty because I stopped you from following the guy and you lost your phone"
Reyna signs and drops the pen she was holding on the table before speaking "well you shouldn't apologize,it's not your fault I lost my phone besides I wasn't thinking when I decided to run after the thief into a dark alley,so yeah...thanks for stopping me Liam …so can I now continue reading?" she asked in sarcasm.
"One more thing!" Liam raised a finger and Reyna rolled her eyes at him.
"really…."she said in annoyance.
Liam smiled at how cute she looked and pulled out a brand new phone from his bag pack…"here"....he smiled and pushed it towards her.
"What's this??"Reyna asked.
"A phone silly,"Liam replied with a smile.
"What for??"Reyna looked confused.
"It's yours salty," Liam replied .
"Stop calling me that"Reyna warned ..and her face softened as her eyes landed on the phone. She smiles sadly and said "thanks but I can't accept this".
"Why?!!"
"Cause it's too much Liam!!!why would you buy me a phone!"
"Cause you need one silly".
"Stop calling me names" Reyna glared at him.
"Okay…okay…I just felt like gifting it to my friend and we're friends right??" Liam raised a brow.
"I can't take this !!it's too expensive"
"I didn't ask you to pay darling"
"Stop calling me names"Reyna glares .
"Fine just take it please"Liam pouts cutely like a little child that was about to cry.
Reyna chuckles at his cuteness,she knew for sure she couldn't Liam at this point.
Fine!!... Reyna signed as she collect the phone and Liam smiles excitedly .
"Thank you"Reyna finally said.
"You're welcome…Liam smiles…so what are you reading??"
"Some business management textbooks"
"I could be of help ,you know I'm also studying business management and I'm in my final year…but that's only if you don't mind".
"Having a reading partner is not a bad idea,so I guess it's fine by me" Reyna replied.
Liam stayed studying with her in the library for a while and it soon got late.
"I think we should go home now" Reyna said softly. "It's getting late"
"Yeah you're right "
Reyna packs her books and stand up.
"Let me help you with that" Liam collected the books from her."I'll drop you off at home"
"You shouldn't stress yourself I can just take a cab"
"It's no stress….I'm taking you home and that final princess"Liam said in finality
Reyna signed and walks out of the library with him as he leads her to his car, Liam opens the car door like a gentleman and Reyna thanks him before entering the car and he drives her home.
Nana and Jade had actually gone out to buy some steaks and met Reyna coming out of the car and Liam was holding the door as she stepped out.
"Hello" Jade weaved with a small smile.
"Hello ladies" Liam smiled back.
"I'm Nana and this is Jade" Nana offers her hand for a handshake smiling.
Liam gives her a small smile and a handshake "nice to meet you..I'm Liam.
"They're my friends and roommates"Reyna said.
"Ohhh…nice to meet you"Liam repeat and his phone buzzed and frowned when he looked at the screen and saw that it was one of his many fligs calling,he raises his head and smiled at Reyna,said goodbye and left and the ladies said farewell to him,and he drove off.
In their apartment,Reyna sits on her bed to take of her sandals when Nana comes and sits in front of her.
"Okay Reyna what's going on"Nana asked.
"Nothing!"Reyna replied boringly.
"Are you both dating?"Jade asked.
"No!!" Reyna answered with a boringly
look on her face "we're just friends".
Nana the phone beside Reyna's books and carries it "where did you get this ??"
"He gifted it to me because I lost my phone" she replied.
"Is there something you're not telling us?"Jade asked.
"No"Reyna rolls her eyes and goes to the bathroom as Jade and Nana admire the new iphone.
