Chapter 16

Anna’s POV:

We waited cautiously. We knew they would try to sneak around and get a blind attack. My brother thought he was smart. Damon was smarter.

Damon had fighters in the trees and around every tree was a wolf, blending in perfectly to their background.

Damon mindlinked me as I couldn’t see him anymore, he was hidden waiting to attack.

“Everything will be alright. Once we find out where Cinder is, Elena can be free, YOU will be free. Get ready!”

He shut the link as members of my old pack came running through the trees, some in wolf form, some in human. I didn’t see my brother anywhere. I knew he could smell me. We were related afterall.

“NOW!” Yelled Damon through the yells and yips.

“Find Jake and keep him alive!” I ordered as I scanned through the crowd and couldn’t see or smell him. I forgot my alpha aura could make them listen to me, but I wasn’t worried about that.

I closed my eyes and tried to sense Elena. I knew she would be with him. I could see heat signatures! Four of them! This must be a new power! I mindlinked Damon and told him there were still others waiting in the tree line.

“That must be your brother. We need to get in control.” Damon replied. I knew what he meant. I walked out in the middle of the fight. I was terrified but I knew what I had to do. I concentrated and imagined controlling one person to kneel. And then he did.

One by one. Down they went.

Damon walked over and gave me a kiss on the forehead and then turned his attention to the tree line.

“Come on out. You’re outnumbered now!” He uses his Alpha aura and they slowly crept out from behind the trees.

Lilly and Elena stood by each other with Elena making eyes at us. She knew everything was about to change. And of all people Ash was here! That backstabber. Jake just stood there wobbling back and forth. Atleast the serum was working X

Elijah stepped up first, hardly controlling his anger.

“Where is Elena’s sister Cinder? Tell us and we may let you go.” He was very calm and that scared me.

Jake started laughing, looking at Elena.

“You are so dumb, stupid witch. She’s been at the pack grounds the whole time. Right under your nose. There was a reason you weren’t allowed in the far side of the dungeon. We’ve kept her alive, you should be happy about that!” He laughed and spat at Elena’s feet.

Elijah couldn’t control himself anymore and released his anger on Jake. He punched him so hard across the jaw that a tooth fell out and he fell flat on the ground. He was about to stomp his head in but Damon stopped him.

“We all have business to tend to with him. Especially Anna. Take Elena and go get her sister. That’s an order.” Damon ordered and was using his authority against Elijah.

Elena was sobbing uncontrollably.

“How could I have let this happen? She was right there! I should have sensed her!” She wept into Elijah’s shirt. He lifted her up and smiled at me and winked at Damon.

“I’ll link you when we get Cinderella. Good luck Anna.” Elijah said as he shifted into his wolf. Elena hopped on his back and they were off.

I turned my attention to my brother and my so called childhood bestfriend. I knew the serum was still in effect so I wanted to diffuse the situation. I asked Damon to talk to Jake. I turned my attention to Ash.

“I’m gonna start with you.” I paused for about fifteen to twenty seconds to add tension.

“Why did you betray me?”
