The Abused Mate

Chapter 15

Elena’s POV:

After speaking with Ash and discovering we now had a new ally, I drifted off to sleep. I dreamt about Elijah and how perfect he was. When we met it was like we had known each other for our entire lives. I felt like I had a friend, a confidant. He was the answer to all the questions I had been longing to get.

I awoke to Jake yelling at Lily. Again.

“I told you to make breakfast! You expect me to fight on an empty stomach?” He screamed as he slapped her across the face. Ash came into the room as Lily cupped her cheek.

“I’ll deal with you when we get back,” Jake said with a promising tone. Lily simply dropped her head and cowered to the corner.

Ash came to my side and gave me a look. I knew he wanted to kill Jake now but I couldn’t jeopardize saving Cinder.

“Alright, we know my sister and her mate are at their pack lands, we will attack.” He beamed. I looked at Ash who pulled out the truth serum from his pocket.

“How about a toast Alpha?” Ash asked and he grabbed beer bottles from the fridge. He then grabbed red solo cups from the counter and placed the serum in one without notice. He filled up the cups and gave Jake the one with its truth juice sitting inside. Just a sip and in a few minutes I would find out where Cinder was.

Everyone clanked their cups, Jake chugged his drink and then we were out the door. Just a few more minutes.

Anna’s POV:

We all awoke feeling rested and I felt good about everything that was going to take place today. I didn’t want to end my brother or our pack, but he was crazy. He wanted me dead. And I didn’t even know why.

We didn’t have a set time so we prepared everything and all weapons before we went to sleep so we could be ready at the drop of a dime.

Damon was growing restless knowing my brother was out for my blood and wanted nothing more then to take all the bad away for me. I gripped his hand and gave him a soft smile.

“Thankyou.” I whispered.

“For what?” He asked.

“For simply being you and loving me and accepting me. Today is going to be emotional and scary and I wouldn’t want anyone different beside me. So Thankyou.”

“I will always protect you Anna. Til I take my last breath.” He kissed my forehead and squeezed my waist.

We noticed Elijah started pacing so that just mean Elena is close enough to mindlink. They are close. And that means people are about to die. Simply to protect me.

I know if we make it through today, I’m going to mark Damon and he will mark me. We will truly be one and then no one can stop us. I won’t have to be afraid anymore.

Damon’s POV:

Anna was scared, I could tell. But I was determined to keep her safe and end this wage of war upon her. With her new Alpha aura Jake may drop to her command, but no one knew what was truly going to happen. I just hope Elena can find out where her sister is.

Elijah looked over at me and motioned me over. I could tell he was nervous and scared too. But over Elena. He just found his mate and didn’t even get to stay with her. But I applaud her bravery and will take note of how she has handled things. Good and bad. She did fair considering.

“I really hope things go well today. Elena’s sister better be okay. Damn man, this is crazy. I can’t believe I finally found her. And she’s a part witch? Things are gonna get freak-ayyyy.” He joked.

“Dude, not the time. Read the room.” I said as I pushed him.

“I gotta break the tension somehow. I started freaking myself out a little.” Elijah replied.

We stopped and turned our attention to the tree line when we heard twigs and branches breaking. We all assumed our positions in and around the trees and waited for them to get within arms reach to attack. Anna would get her answer today.
