The Abused Mate

Chapter 1

Anna's POV:

“Get up, you filthy b***h!” screams my brother as he wakes me up. I am quickly jerked off of my so called “bed” which is nothing more then a bunch of blankets piled on one another. Jake never used to be this mean to me. We always had our moments, we were siblings after all, but something changed in him a while back. I really can’t remember how old I was, I know I was young. He pushed me up the basement stairs, making sure I kept moving. Once I got upstairs, the whole Jade Moon pack was standing in the kitchen waiting for us. We walked in slowly, and Hunter, our alpha immediately glared at me and starts growling.

“Why are all of us awake and not one single piece of food is ready for us to eat? You expect us to make food ourselves?” The others start laughing amongst themselves, but Hunter quickly turns around and scowls at them. Everyone falls silent. He turns back to me and starts yelling again. “ You should feel lucky that we took you and your brother in. We give you a home and this is how you repay us?”

I wouldn’t call it much of a home to begin with. They treat me like a slave and if I do something wrong, they hit me, or worse. “Now, I am going to give you thirty minutes to come up with something decent for everyone to eat, otherwise, you will have to learn another lesson,” Hunter grinned as he spoke. “I am pretty sure you remember what happened last time you didn’t listen?”

FLASHBACK

“I’m sorry!” I screamed as hard as I could, but Hunter didn’t care. He was mad that I messed up dinner, and I knew he wasn’t going to be nice about it. His eyes went black as he started to approach me, I just wanted to run away. I had never shapeshifted before so I knew I couldn’t get away from him. Nova, my wolf, was whimpering on the inside and I let out a whimper to show Hunter I was being submissive. He didn’t care. He grabbed me and threw me down on my stomach. In one swift motion, he ripped my shirt off revealing my small torso and black sports bra. He yelled for his Beta, Nolan, and he came and held me down. All of a sudden, I hear a loud whip and my back starts to feel like fire. He was whipping me. He did that for about thirty minutes or so before I finally blacked out.

FLASHBACK OVER

My mind whips back to Hunter, “Don’t worry, breakfast will be ready ASAP!” “It better be.” He chuckled as he walked away, as if to mock my fear of being beaten again. Jake watches me from the corner of the room, observing my every move. What is he up to? I don’t trust him after everything he has done to me. He always blamed me for our father leaving our mom and then her killing herself. I was only 7 at the time, but that’s a story for another day. I start to zone out while cooking, not noticing Jake lingering behind me. He quickly runs out of the room, as if to be unnoticed. After a few minutes, I’m all done with breakfast and I yell for Hunter.

Hunter and the rest of the pack quickly come to the kitchen and stare at the food I have prepared. Fresh eggs with sausage and a nice fruit platter. Hunter approaches the eggs first, since they have the most done to them. He takes one bite and his face turns red and his eyes black. He turns to everyone and tells them to get out. “Everyone, but Jake and Anna.” I feel fear started to dwell up inside my stomach. I can see Jake is pretty nervous too. Hunter walks over to Jake and whispers something in his ear. I don’t like the look on either of their faces. “The eggs were not done properly Anna. Im afraid you’ve earned yourself another lesson. But I made Jake a promise, since he begged, that he would do the punishing.”

You have got to be kidding right? My brother may want to kill me for all I know. I didn’t know how this was going to turn out, but I knew it wasn’t going to be good. Hunter walked out of the room and I turned to face Jake. He had a horrible grin, and he was giggling quietly. My stomach was starting to turn. He shifted quickly into his wolf, a dark grey wolf with dark green eyes. He immediately sunk his fangs into my shoulder blade and drug me towards the stairs. I was screaming in agony, Nova was howling on the inside for help, but no one would help us. Oh Moon Goodess, please make it stop. He stopped at the stairs leading down to the basement and tossed me down like ragdoll. I hit the last stair then the concrete floor with a thud, landing on my head. I let out another scream.

He shifted back to his human form and walked down towards me, almost stalking me, watching me try to get up. He knew I couldn’t get far so he took his time. I had barely moved a foot by the time he got to me. He grabbed me by the throat and threw me against the concrete wall. I could feel bones breaking, mostly my rib cage. I started crying in pain, cursing Jake as he walked towards me again. He had ropes in his hands. Oh no, what was he going to do to me now? He quickly tied separate ropes around both my feet then around both of my hands. He proceeded to hang me up with all four of my limbs being pulled outward. If this isnt torture, I don’t know what is. He decided to make me feel as much pain as possible.

He pulled out the whip the Hunter gave him and gave me lashes. He gave me one for every birthday I had. Seventeen birthdays and I still had not shifted into my wolf. I knew she could help me get out of here, if only she could come out. He whipped me over and over til he finally reached that number that I now dread so much. “I know you think you can’t handle much more, but oh little sister, you can,” Jake laughed as he grabbed burning candles. He poured them over my fresh wounds over my back and laughed everything I would flinch or ask him to stop.

“Please stop! I’m begging you! I promise I will do a better job at breakfast next time! I promise!” I was screaming and begging at the same time. He didn’t listen to anything I said and decided he wanted to whip me some more, but this time just once. And in the face. He knew this would be the only way to publicly scar me. And over eggs for that matter. “Jake, please, you can do whatever you want to me, just don’t hit me in the face with that. I will never look the same, my mate will reject me.” He stared at me for what seemed like an eternity, “Well that will be a start, and besides, who could love someone pathetic as you?” And with that, he struck me in the face as hard as he could. I felt the blood start to pour from my face. I tried to yell but he hit my mouth and my lip was gashed open, the more I tried to talk or scream for help, the more it bled.

Hunter opened the door and yelled down for Jake, “I think she has had enough. We have an alpha clan coming in tomorrow and Anna needs to be ready to make dinner.” With his new order from his alpha, Jake cut me down and I quickly fell to the floor, cradling my body, not able to move. It was dark down here, I crawled to the wall and cut the light on. I slowly stood up and stared at my body in the broken mirror. I was a petite 5’2 with a curvy frame. I had no boobs, but my butt made up for it. My hair is dark brown and used to have waves but now it looks dull and burnt out. I thought atleast average looking. I had multiple scars on my body from my past turmoil, but none like this, none that I could notice immediately. Now I just see a hideous scar riden girl. No one will ever get me out of this hell hole now.
